It is so much fun... 08-26-08 06:44am CST
...to watch the growth and development of a child. Addi is getting very imaginative in her play now. She makes crying sounds for her dolls and then picks them up and everyone has to give them some love and pat them. She also shares her pacifier with all of her babies. She pretends that Sammy (our dog) is a baby and chases her around trying to stick a pacifier in her mouth. I think she does this because Sammy cries, however Sammy is crying because she is an old tired dog that wants to take a nap and some little girl keeps following her around yelling "Ammy". I can't wait to find out what is going on in Andrew's head. I get to see him again September 11. He is currently in the Big Apple with his mom, dad and his other grandparents.
dshSuch a good little mother to her dolls (and Ammy). :)
ootdaSo sympathic to their cries...how sweet!
jessCute!!
linda_gWhat a little sweetie. That's funny about the dog.
carolynAww that is cute.

HowManyOfMe.comLogoThere is
1
person with my name in the U.S.A.

How many have your name?

I'm one of a kind. No one else has my name.
entheoshmm...there are two of me and 2 of phillip. i wonder if they're married?
entheosand i hope it isn't some couple that stole our identities ;)
cdillman23I did that once. I think that there were only 8 of me.
wifeletThere's only one of me, too. And only one of Macy. But 12 of Macy's government name. :)
wifeletMary Catherine. :) Mary Bassford is apparently pretty common ...
seainmeI would've thought my name was pretty rare, because I've never met anyone with it. But apparantly, there are 12, 198 people with my first name. The sad part is...75% of them are MALE! That one stung a bit...
littlelamb196 of me. Deborah was a pretty popular name...just not with my generation. :)
littlelambI'm laughing because they said that there are one or FEWER Liam Buchanans in the US. Poor guy doesn't necessarily exist!
carolynThank you for the gravy advice. I'm sure there are many of me.

Baby dolls 08-11-08 10:09pm CST
Addi has started trying to sing "Rock-a-bye Baby" while sitting in my little rocking chair, so I decided she needed a baby doll to play with at our house. We went to Walmart to let her pick out one. Her mom and I were looking over all the dolls and deciding they were either too large for Addi or too hard or too creepy. (There was one that kept wiggling and making noises that totally creeped us out. We think it must have had a motion sensor in it or something.) Anyway, we are having a great time picking out a doll and trying to decide which one she would like best. In the mean time my husband (who had been holding Addi the whole time) said "Do you suppose she might like this little one that she took off the shelf and has been saying baby, baby, baby to ever since we walked into the doll aisle?" I guess we kind of forgot who was supposed to be picking it out. :) She had picked a 97 cent 6 inch tall baby and she loved it. So she got her 97 cent baby and we also got one with a pacifier that her mommy liked and another really soft one with a bottle that I liked. :) She liked the one with the bottle once she could see you could feed the baby, although I think she fed all of the babies with the bottle.

That rocking chair in the picture was my first birthday present, so it is 56 years old Addi is the 5th child to use it.

dshHow cute! What a lucky little girl getting three dolls in one shopping trip. What fun you will all have.

I have my rocking chair that is about 52 years old. It looks like yours except it has a natural wood finish. Our grandchildren use it too.
bestillHow sweet!!
superstar12That's so sweet!
split_rockShe's getting so big!
acurtisWhat a precious story! She is such a darling little girl.
wifeletWhat a cool chair! :)
littlelambHow sweet!!!
Those talking dolls alway creep me out when I go past them- at our Target someone turned them all on and it is really weird.
sarahphimHow precious! I love how children are so easy to please.
seainme"or too creepy"...that was funny. :) I can picture some of the dolls you must be talking about. She looks adorable and VERY happy with her new baby. What a good little mommy she is! :)
cdillman23So precious!! My oldest has an old rocking chair that used to be my sister's. It is only about 37 years old but I love the old rockers!
wifeletTrue. Those are the official posted rules, but I bet they'd make an exception ... I'll have to ask and see! :)

Diet Time 08-03-08 02:39pm CST
I saw a dietitian last Wednesday. I am trying to tackle my weight issues because I have two grandchildren that I need to be able to keep up with, and because my blood sugar has been creeping up for the last few years. Our health insurance just recently started paying for consultations with a dietitian so I thought I would take advantage of it. All of my attempts at loosing weight in the last several years have been a bust so I thought maybe I have been doing it wrong. The dietitian put me on the American Diabetes Association Exchange diet at 1200 calories. Today is my fourth day on the diet. I will surely starve to death before I lose any weight. My fat cells are screaming for food! Their voices are like the "wimpy, wimpy, wimpy" voice on the hefty trash bag commercial only they are saying "feed me, feed me, feed me" and there are millions of them so it is getting quite loud!

p.s. On a happier note, the dietitian told me I'm not fat enough for lap band surgery (which I wasn't considering anyway). I took that as good news. :)
superstar12I feel for ya! I'm down 44 pounds and it was calorie counting and exercise that worked for me. I was MISERABLE the first few weeks. I felt so sorry for my children and hubby. ; ) Good luck!
linda_gGood luck! Don and I started back to Weight Watchers. His blood sugar always improves when we're on WW - I don't know why we always quit.
ootdaGood for you!! One day your fat cells will be thanking you b/c your heart won't have to work as hard!!! You'll "hear"...thank-you, thank-you, thank-you in chorus!!!!!
wifeletI'm impressed you've made it this far!! I've usually given up by Day 4 ... :)
entheos(andrew) gwandma, luv you! fat cells say feed me, but i say luv you luv you luv you!
acurtisLOL about the lapband surgery! We have been doing some serious calorie counting around here lately too. No fun at all...well, until you see the results =) Good luck! ps...the best part about babies is that they don't care if you are a size 24 or a size 4. They love you just the same
seainmeThat's funny about the lap band surgery comment! But hey, that's GREAT NEWS that you don't qualify. :) Good for you for hanging in there. It's so hard to do, but you can do it. Once your body gets used to things, it will stop screaming at you! :) And once you start shedding pounds, you will be such a happy camper. :)
littlelambThanks for the good laugh...and the encouragement. I've really been watching what I eat this pregnancy so I can avoid gaining extra weight (above what baby needs)- It's not easy! As it is I'll have 30lbs extra to lose when baby's born. :(
dshHope your dieting is going well. :)

seainmeHow sweet! She just about danced herself till she tipped over! :) That was such a cute video. She has come so far.
bestillHow cute! Does her ear hurt???
mtnestYes, her is ear is bothering her. She has another ear infection in her right ear. She needs ear tubes, but can only get it done at Vanderbilt and we couldn't get an appointment with the ENT there until mid September. Her pediatrician thinks she may need to have her tonsils out too.
linda_gWhat a cutie!
wifeletThat's a pretty cool dance ... I might have to start dancing like that ... :)
