...to watch the growth and development of a child. Addi is getting very imaginative in her play now. She makes crying sounds for her dolls and then picks them up and everyone has to give them some love and pat them. She also shares her pacifier with all of her babies. She pretends that Sammy (our dog) is a baby and chases her around trying to stick a pacifier in her mouth. I think she does this because Sammy cries, however Sammy is crying because she is an old tired dog that wants to take a nap and some little girl keeps following her around yelling "Ammy". I can't wait to find out what is going on in Andrew's head. I get to see him again September 11. He is currently in the Big Apple with his mom, dad and his other grandparents. |

Addi has started trying to sing "Rock-a-bye Baby" while sitting in my little rocking chair, so I decided she needed a baby doll to play with at our house. We went to Walmart to let her pick out one. Her mom and I were looking over all the dolls and deciding they were either too large for Addi or too hard or too creepy. (There was one that kept wiggling and making noises that totally creeped us out. We think it must have had a motion sensor in it or something.) Anyway, we are having a great time picking out a doll and trying to decide which one she would like best. In the mean time my husband (who had been holding Addi the whole time) said "Do you suppose she might like this little one that she took off the shelf and has been saying baby, baby, baby to ever since we walked into the doll aisle?" I guess we kind of forgot who was supposed to be picking it out. :) She had picked a 97 cent 6 inch tall baby and she loved it. So she got her 97 cent baby and we also got one with a pacifier that her mommy liked and another really soft one with a bottle that I liked. :) She liked the one with the bottle once she could see you could feed the baby, although I think she fed all of the babies with the bottle.
That rocking chair in the picture was my first birthday present, so it is 56 years old Addi is the 5th child to use it.

I saw a dietitian last Wednesday. I am trying to tackle my weight issues because I have two grandchildren that I need to be able to keep up with, and because my blood sugar has been creeping up for the last few years. Our health insurance just recently started paying for consultations with a dietitian so I thought I would take advantage of it. All of my attempts at loosing weight in the last several years have been a bust so I thought maybe I have been doing it wrong. The dietitian put me on the American Diabetes Association Exchange diet at 1200 calories. Today is my fourth day on the diet. I will surely starve to death before I lose any weight. My fat cells are screaming for food! Their voices are like the "wimpy, wimpy, wimpy" voice on the hefty trash bag commercial only they are saying "feed me, feed me, feed me" and there are millions of them so it is getting quite loud!
p.s. On a happier note, the dietitian told me I'm not fat enough for lap band surgery (which I wasn't considering anyway). I took that as good news. :) |
