Chloe has a friend in her class who came home today to find her dad had died. The young lady was left to tell her own mother that her dad had died, once the paramedics had already tried to revive him. God was watching over the two toddlers he was babysitting (his grandsons) as they were unharmed, without a care or concern other than grandpa was asleep... This young lady is near and dear to me, and her heart is broken. Chloe is horribly upset for her friend. Thank you if you have a minute to pray for the sweet friend of Chloe's.
I hope you have a wonderful thanksgiving today with your family! And you were right about the sleep apnea thing, they sent me for a sleep study Tuesday night. We'll see what it reveals...
Edna Cowboy Band ranked 13th out of 25. Mr. Mowles did say that the band right before them from Rio Hondo (who ended up with first place overall and one of five bands going to state on Monday) told him some really complimentary things about Edna's performance as they sat just outside the stadium confines and watched. Overall, it was an amazing marching year and hopefully it will carry into all their other performances this year. Lots of nice comments were emailed to the band.
Our meeting was SO GOOD. I feel uplifted, revitalized, chastised, etc. Wow, what a GOOD meeting. God was most definitely praised and adored and feared. Dan King from Tennessee.
Horns won their game, albeit closely. And I am really excited that the Horns - Aggies game will be on THANKSGIVING DAY for the first time since 1993! Woohoo! What a lovely thing to watch on Thanksgiving... I do miss my b-i-l in Georgia and his willingness to watch the game in the same room with me in years past. Of course, most of that time it was on the day after Thanksgiving. Thanks, jqp...
Whew.. I got invited to join the Zeta Gamma chapter of Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society. {{Blushes}} I was duly amazed. College president even signed it for real...
We are considering Christmasing in April with Laura and her crew. If she and hers are willing. Probably..
Love to all! Professor let me submit that essay... Thank you!!!
Friday night, no brainer, lost to Yoakum. But the paper had our name and Yoakum's switched so we appeared to have one it, at least according to the Victoria Advocate. Lol.
Saturday dawned early and nervous. UIL Regional Marching Band competition in El Campo. Dropped kids off, got myself and Charlotte together. Mom picked us up and we went on to El Campo. Got some lunch, got back to the stadium, tried hard not to hate the GPS on Mom's front windshield... Sat and watched two bands before Edna. First one we saw got a II, the second one (Wharton) got a three. {{I'm sorry, Perri!!! I wish I could have found you and hugged on you! I know you did everything you could except march for them.}} Then we watched Edna and when they were announcing the results I thought I was going to be very ill. But Edna got straight I's and I jumped up and down and screamed.... Then the kids told me that they were the only band to get three I's in AAA. The kids advance to Area this weekend in Calallan. Wish us all luck and peace of mind.
Saturday night we had gospel meeting services at five and six. And brothers and sisters, I have to say this here. If you left services before the six pm service, shame on you. "Not forsaking the assembling of the saints" means what to you? I was gone all day, out in the sun, studying for midterms, dealing with my 6 year old, dealing with nervous kids then ecstatic kids then kids that didn't initially want to go on to worship. But guess what? They did. The three kids (Eli, Chloe and Tyler) who marched earlier that day were there and stayed for both services. Six pm was not a repeat of five pm, it was a different lesson. I guess whatever those folks HAD to go do was more important than worshipping God. NOT. And of course, I am not talking about the aged and infirm. Anyway... The lessons were lovely and very exhorting.
Okay, part three of Saturday. You know it. Horns on tv... Although I will say I thought about NOT watching because they were doing better when I had not been watching. But they still won with an okay margin. Hook 'em Horns!
Sunday
Services were interesting -- truly! Then I submitted one midterm, took another midterm, and typed up an essay. Pray for me and this essay, please... I clicked submit when the Blackboard clock said 11:29 and then the screen told me I missed the assignment as the clock THEN read 11:30. I have emailed the prof, but I don't know what he can do.
Busy, busy lady! Do you ever sleep? :) The marching competition sounds very exciting and fun. It brings back so many memories. :) I remember my senior year when we won the championship trophy at our biggest competition and how awesome that felt!! Good luck to you guys at the Area competition!! We are having our meeting this week too. Ron Halbrook is here. He is an amazing speaker. We were just mesmerized yesterday while he preached. We are counting the minutes until we can go back tonight to hear him again!! Have a great day, I sure hope your professor will accept your essay.
Had a very busy weekend, arriving back home and settling back in. Trying to catch up around the house and with the laundry today. Back to "work" tomorrow!
Is your sister Ok? She hasn't been on her blog lately. . . Oh, how frustrating about your missed time for submission. And I love you for your strong encouragment about priorities and love for God's things.
Unable to watch the game due to loyalties to watch my kiddos compete in the Katy Invitational Marching Contest, I listened to the Red River Rivalry game on the radio as we headed home. The last two scores, to be exact. Oh, wow..... 45-35... Then, Sunday evening after services, I am online and notice a tag line on a news site. I about fell over... Leapfrogging over Alabama, Texas now sits atop all three polls, most importantly the AP Top 25 and the Coaches Poll. Happy, happy, joy, joy, happy, happy, joy...
Am I busy? Yes, y'all. 13 hours is a bit rough. I get something done and boom, something else is due... Yes, I know, it is supposed to be like that. Just musing.
More later. You can catch me during the day at bthompson@ednaisd.org
I think you managed to restrain yourself almost 100% .... I know how excited you can get when watching the 'Horns games and I'm glad you weren't screaming while I was driving.
Yes, I am busy. Even with a juxtaposition of many assignments due to IKE, still uber busy. Love to all, especially the only woman I would want to take on a trail ride following the path of the Old 300 OR a trail ride along the paths our family took during the Runaway Scrape. I miss you... Who else (well, Brian probably would too) would want a lovely 3 x 3 slice or two of Texas Sheet Cake with a steaming cup of coffee while discussing our indiginous species of geckos? You know...
Just wanted to say hello. I haven't been on here in awhile. I have lots of catching up to do with everyone. :) I'm so glad you guys didn't get hit by the hurricane! I was worried about my friends in Edna!!! :)
