Thanksgiving was pretty good. Daniel was in Wed. night through Sunday afternoon. :) My babies were out of town ( :( ), but we had another baby in the extended family who came and I got to rock her instead.

Mom and I got up early (4:10 a.m.) on Black Friday to get some good deals. We did. :) We got to Wal-Mart a little bit after 5 a.m. It wasn't as bad as it could have been. We finally ate breakfast around 9:something. I think I'm still sleep-deprived from that morning. :)

Saturday was Mom's birthday. We ate lunch out at a Mexican restaurant. I told our waiter (secretly) that it was Mom's birthday. He and a few other guys came and sang to her. She was somewhat embarrassed until they sang, "Happy Birthday, Mamacita!" We cracked up. :)

Yesterday, we had family and friends over for lunch. I was about to fall asleep. I've got some kind of sinus drainage plus the sleep-deprivation (which you'd think I'd have gotten used to by now) and didn't feel too perky. We watched Amazing Grace after everyone left.

Today, school's back in session. Ugh. Good news - this is the last week of classes and finals are next week! We've got 2 Christmas parties to go to next week. Yay! :)

The kung fu belt test is this Saturday, but I don't think I'm going to test. I kind of tried to tell my instructor that last Saturday and I think it may have surprised him. Oh well.

I should go. My next class starts in just a little bit.

God bless,
Kerry
laura_ashleyI didn't know it was your moms birthday!!! Tell her I said happy birtday!!
csusoftballgirlDid you like Amazing Grace? Dan and I rented it and enjoyed it. More than that, though, we liked the John Adams series. We rented them from Blockbuster. There are a couple of immodest scenes, but overall, a touching story
misslynnI hope you feel better soon so that you can take your tests okay!
lizzbethAt a mexican place in Conway they put a big hat on your head and they beat the hat while they sing to you! Doesn't that sound like fun!! :)

What kind of deals did you get? I might would have gone but we had company coming later in the day so I needed to help clean the house. I did end up going on Saturday and got a pair of jeans and a sweater that were on sale.

I've watched "Amazing Grace". It was really sad!!

After today, I only have two more days of classes before Thanksgiving break and only 8 days of classes before finals week! Yay!

The new photo to the left has something to do with a non-school related project I'm working on. Making the photo look like that was easy. The rest of the project is not so easy.

The holiday season is so much fun! No school (mostly). Surrounded by family. Christmas parties, shopping, cold weather, and lights. :) *Sigh*

Also, I'm supposed to be testing for my kung fu brown belt on Dec. 6. Hmmm. Don't know if that's going to happen or not. I can already imagine walking on crutches to take my finals. Not fun.

Well, school's not out yet and I've got some stuff to do. Better go.

God bless,
Kerry
lizzbethBrown belt! Cool! Crutches would not be too cool!
barwhackYeah, I've read Mere Christianity. He makes a good defense. He also hits on a number of ... not-so-central-to-his-book doctrinal issues where he is dead wrong. But overall, a good effort. I'm actually using it with a friend of mine, to encourage him to study THE [good] BOOK more. ;)
lizzbeth:)
lizzbethI hope you are having a wonderful time with all your family! :)

Hmmm. . . 11-16-08 11:29pm CST
You know the feeling that you get when you want to post something and you've got some ideas about what you want to post about, but they aren't exactly falling together like you want them to so you'd rather save them until they are coherent, but you really don't like having to scroll down so far to read comments and the last time you posted was over a week ago?

*Sigh*

Maybe my next post can have photos.

God bless,
Kerry
laura_ashleyI defintly know that feeling
marmeeI only got on the cow so Emma would get on the cow! :)
kalawiI'm in the same situation with posting right now! :)
lizzbethI am glad to know that someone else does that too!:)
lizzbethIt is my fault that you had to scroll done so far! Sorry!
marmeeDid her skin move when you rode her? :)
memento_moriYep, that sounds like my organizational progress. :-D
lizzbethWe got a sweet note from a nice family yesterday! :)
lizzbethDid you take that neat picture of the hawk?
didowNo, not this time. Things got pretty hectic around here. Maybe next quarter.
laura_ashleyGorman wasn't the dishonest one. Fleming is the one that put out the negative ads, Gorman didn't want to fight back because he didn't want to be deceptive.
laura_ashleyFleming is an AMAZING politician but he doesn't have the values Gorman has!
lizzbethThat is a very interesting picture! :)
laura_ashleyFleming was deceptive in making everyone believe Gorman was telling lies, Fleming also denied that he proposed the idea of busing migrant workers across ourborder, he propsed the idea himself. When Gorman brought it up he denied it.
laura_ashleyHave you ever met Fleming?
nthnswmnOk, that is just cool. Very cool.

I only have two classes today and then it's the weekend! :)

Will probably be going fabric shopping today. :)

I don't still have the headache and sick feeling that I had last night! My calves used to cramp up when I got really tired. Well, last night, I felt nauseated instead and had an irksome headache, too. :( Just a slight headache off and on now. Yay! :)

I did get a haircut lately. 5 inches of damaged hair now gone. I miss my longer hair, but shorter is fun, too. Almost no one has noticed it's shorter. :) But I really did get it cut! Actually, with it "shorter," it doesn't get in my way as much.

Well, anyways, keep praying for our country! We need it!

God bless,
Kerry
lizzbethFabric shopping sounds like fun!:) Sorry you weren't feeling good!
lizzbethCould you e-mail the picture of you and I? I tried to save it from the one below and it was really blurry. :)
lizzbethHere is the bread recipe! :)
Sarah's Wedding Bread
(No-Knead Parmesan-Garlic Bread)

4 3/4 cups flour
1/4 cup sugar
1 1/2 t. salt
1 pkg. yeast (=1 T)
1 cup milk
1/4 cup water
1/4 cup butter, softened
2 eggs
Parmesan-Garlic filling
1 egg
1 T water
Sesame seed

Mix 2 cups of flour, sugar, salt, and yeast in large bowl. Heat milk and water until very warm (120 to 130); stir into flour mixture. Stir in butter and eggs. Stir in remaining flour; continue stirring, scraping dough from side of bowl, until soft, sticky dough forms. Cover and let rise in warm place about 1 hour or until double. (If using rapid rise yeast, omit 1 hour rising. Cover and let rest on floured surface 10 minutes.)

Lightly grease cookie sheet. Prepare Parmesan-Garlic filling. Stir down dough by beating about 25 strokes. Turn dough onto well-floured surface. Divide dough into halves. Roll each half into rectangle 12x9 inches. Spread filling evenly over dough. Cut dough into 3 strips, 12x3 inches. Roll up each strip lengthwise around filling into rope; pinch edges and ends to seal. Place ropes side by side on cookie sheet. Braid ropes gently and loosely. Do not stretch. Pinch ends to fasten; tuck under securely. Cover and let rise in warm place about 30 min. or until 1 1/2 times original size.

Move oven rack to below center of oven. Heat oven to 350. Mix egg and 1 T water; brush over braid. Sprinkle with sesame seed. Bake 18 to 20 min. or until braid is golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped. (If braid is browning too quickly, cover loosely with foil.) Remove from cookie sheet to wire rack; serve warm or cool.

2 loaves (about 18 slices each)

Parmesan-Garlic filling

1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1/2 cup butter, softened
3 T chopped fresh parsley
1/2 t garlic powder

Mix all ingredients.

Tips:

It is easy to make the two loaves into one heart, but we found that we could only bake one heart at a time, and had to turn it several times as it baked, so it would brown evenly. The foil helped, too.

With our yeast, we found that if we let the dough rise 30 minutes after braiding, it kept rising in the oven and became huge. We preferred to stick it in the oven right away, or after just a few minutes.

The bread freezes great, either right after braiding (thaw at room temp. 4-5 hours) or already baked. If you freeze before baking, let it set out until it fully thaws and starts raising just a bit. It will finish raising in the oven.We actually found it easier to bake after it had been frozen.
lizzbethSorry it is so long! I should have just e-mailed it to you!
lizzbethThank you for the pictures!:)
