We are leaving this coming weekend for Nashville where my quartet, Rounders, will be competing again this year. We haven't had nearly as much rehearsal time as last year leading up to contest, but we have had shows, which I suppose are the best type of rehearsal anyway, because it's stage time that really helps us out at this point. So, we were performing this past Saturday at a show (our last before Nashville). We had a great time and even though we haven't had lots of rehearsal time, we are still improving, and have improved even tremendously since this point in the year last year. So, we'll see. It'll be a blast! Somebody who attended the show took video and already posted it to youtube, so I'll provide the link below to our opener if you're interested. Enjoy!
Wow, this sounds so awesome! Looking forward to next week with you all! Can't beleive that we are this close in time to hearing you all live once again! And looking foward to seeing Emily and Nora and getting to spend time together! Thanks for the preview!
Sounds good, Myron!! I wish we could be there. I really hate that we can be there to hear it live. I have no idea how we are going to hear it this year. We will be in Indy in a hotel and have no laptop for the webcast:( I guess I will just have to rely on text messages to hear what's going on.
Thanks for sharing! I really hope you do even better this year... I know you can!:)
Ah, the barbershop post! You guys sound great, and I'm sure you will do well. Wish we could go. It's been so long since we've been part of that world. I'd love to catch up with some of the Times guys. Have fun!!!
Hi we get to see your grandpa the last Sunday of Aug. Joe will be preaching for them. We are excited as our son & family may be with us! Please Pray for me as I go through breast cancer screening.
Hi Myron Please check my page about Alice McDaniel. you were young and may not remember Lindy & Alice. But your parents will. Your Grandmother loved him!
Here is a fun clip of the Voices of Liberty singing White Christmas. (This was taken last Tuesday, 11/20/07. We don't officially start singing full Xmas sets until the day after Thanksgiving, but since the rotunda in the American Adventure is decorated already, we threw this song into the mix of our Americana set for fun!) Enjoy!
p.s. Some new, fun things are happening every day at my house. Check out her blog for more details.
Only partly because you went to bed late and I am up early, do I see this and remark maybe first?! Hey, this is super neat! Thanks for sharing this with everyone! And thank you for sharing Jingle Bells over the phone with your Dad and I, and your sister and husband and family on Thanksgiving day. That was a special treat coming live over the phone waves! It was a very cute version of Jingle Bells. And, was that you sounding like the horse at the end? Quite realistic and a nice additive! Very nice clear sound full of great harmony!
Very good!!! Once again, we all gathered round and loved it:) I love that you are getting to do this! What a fun experience it must be! Thank you for sharing it with us and also the Jingle Bells...very cool:) We all love you lots ♥
The V of L have always been my very favorite thing at Epcot! I may have to link this to the Disneyworld Fanatics group for fun :) Don't be surprised if some of them comment ;)
We're heading to WDW next weekend (Dec 7 - 9) and I told the kids we are going to Epcot to see the holiday decorations / events. We'll have to be sure to stop in to hear VOL. Do you know what time the performances are generally on Saturdays?
Hey Myron. This is Jake, Nathans room mate at FC. Glad to hear things are going well. We go to Disney about once a year (twice next year). Our next trip will be right after lectures (Feb. 7th and 8th). Let me know if you will be working one of those days and we will try to come see you.
I don't know you but I saw the link to your blog on the WDWfanatics page...I was there at the park and watch your performance last Tuesday...just thought it was too funny not to leave a comment. It was a great show!
Our prelims are in two weeks. We just had Cindy Hansen Ellis and Brandon Guyton in to coach us this past weekend. I can barely walk. The uptune we kept from last year (Shakin' The Blues Away) and we revamped the choreo. We are doing a new ballad, If Ever I Would Leave You. Hope to meet you in Nashville. I'll find you and introduce myself since you have no idea what I look like. We've also scheduled our Disney trip for later in the Summer (July). Hopefully we can make it to Epcot to see you.
Thanks for the b'day wishes. Yes, with prelims in 2 weeks we're under the gun. My quartet, Three Men and a Minor, decided not to compete. We've got some heavy hitters in our prelims including Wheelhouse and Storm Front. Plus, the chourus, Atlanta Vocal Project, just got off the paper with our ballad. It's going to be a hectic 2 weeks.
Happy Birthday Nora! It is an interesting feeling. The one year old mark always seemed so far off. It's been a wonderful life change, and I thank God for blessing me with such a beautiful family. I leave you with pictures of my girls...
So glad that we were able to share the week-end with you three. Lot's of fun! It was so cute to see her reactions as the workers sang 'Happy Birthday' to Nora. Then to see her eyes light up with the cake put in front of her! She was certainly full of smiles, as usual. I enjoyed so much her vocabulary! She says so many words and tries whatever she hears! So much fun hearing her make her billy goat sound! Keep working with her on the pitches, she is amazing on trying to match tone pitches!
Thanks, Myron:) I can't tell you how cool it is to see her up there! Yes, I think I am getting a touch of Mom:)
We would love to see one or more of your gigs...it is just so cool that you get to do that and make money!!!
This is so funny. I'm planning our trip to Disney next year and there's this message board all about disney. Someone posted about there trip and had pictures. One of the pictures was of a barbershop quartet. And you're in the picture! You're officially famous. :P Here's a link: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1595727, your picture if the 4th one down.
Hi I'm Deb Griffin & my husband preached where your grandpa Ken was an elder for 5 yrs. We treasured Ken & Billye, while we sat with Joe's mother as she passed away, Ken & Billye had our boys & we didn't worry about them at all because we knew how much love they were receiving. & Oh my, This baby girl has to be Billye Whittlesey's great grand baby! I looked at this picture as Billye's face just flashed before me! The eyes & the mouth especially. She would be so excited to see her! She was such a strong Christian woman. I pray that baby Nora is as joyful, strong & spiritual as her Great Grandmother. Ken called me Mon. Said he wanted to come down to visit. I think we need to go get him and bring him down for a few days! That will save him Gas & time driving. He told me he is 84 now. It is so strange that I find you grandkids just days after your grandpa called me. & one other thing he is so proud of his grandkids and great grandkids!!
