This isn't really just for the holidays but it seems to be more of an issue this time of year when more people are out and about. My pet peeve is when someone waits (with cars lined up behind them) to get a parking space. Now, if I happen to see someone getting ready to back out and waiting on them will not tie up traffice, I will patiently wait for their spot but it annoys me to no end to have someone wait for the person to unload their cart, buckle in their kids, etc. when they have a row of cars behind them. And to top it off, ususally they are right in the middle of the aisle so that no one could pass them on either side if they tried to!
Please be considerate in the parking lots of America!
This is more of a pet peeve that I have that happens at pretty much every intersection I'm ever in -- People who pull in the middle of the intersection when the light is yellow which blocks the intersection for the other people who have the GREEN light. Highly annoying. I can't help it -- the majority of the time they get a BIG honk from me.
I hate that too! And Ryan hates it too UNLESS he's the one doing it and then he doesn't think its rude at all. I on the other hand slouch in the seat! :)
There have been times that I've gone around people like that and have been in the store before they ever get into the parking spot. It's silly what people will do to avoid a little extra exercise!
This will be a busy, but very enjoyable week! Today started our meeting with Ferrell Jenkins and will continue through Wednesday.
Tuesday the boys don't have school and I will need to find time to vote, probably before work since we will need to be at church at 7:00.
Thursday I am only working a 1/2 day then will go have lunch with the boys at school before heading to the lake to meet up with the ladies from Vivion Road for the Ladies Retreat. The boys will stay all night with my folks on Thursday night and then they will spend the weekend with their dad.
I will get back from the lake Saturday afternoon so will have Saturday evening to recover and then will pick the boys up in Concordia at 9:00 on Sunday morning and be back in Columbia for church at 10:00.
Me too! ^^ I wanted to go this year but Ryan and I are going to a marriage seminar by Gary Smally on Friday night and Saturday morning and then I am throwing a shower Saturday afternoon.
I having a pretty good time at dads. What have you been doing while we've been gone? We're going to decorate the tree to night. Are we going to decorate the tree this weekend?
Today is an absolutely gorgeous day! The boys school had their "Stallion Stampede" today and most stuff was outside so we could not have asked for better weather. Last year it rained so some activities had to be cancelled and what stuff could be salvaged was brought inside so today was much better.
Last night we each picked out a pumpkin so I think we will clean them out and begin carving tonight. There are usually a few frustrations throughout the carving process but all in all it should be fun!
What fun things are in store for you this fine fall weekend?
hey! They had the pumpkin carving contest last night at the Born's. We went to visit Ryan's parents last night and I reffed a tournament today. We are all over the place
We nissed you this weekend. Friday night as you read was the Bron's bon fire/pumpkin party & last night was the Teen/pre-teen study. I was hoping you guys were coming up. Alicia *+& I talked about it - she said she felt bad that she didn't discuss it with you. Sounds like you had a fun weekend. The ladies are getting all their plans in place for the retreat in a few weeks.
Hey Nancy! It's Lisa - What did you find out about the Retreat? Think you might be able to swing it? We'll have lessons on both nights and you know you're more than welcome for both or just one if that works best for you all! Hope everything is good with you and the boys!
Hey girl! We missed you at the pumpkin event, but so glad you had your own. If you can't join 'em, beat 'em! What did the boys end up carving? I was going to carve one, but I donated my own to one of Michaela's friends that did not bring one. We had lots of cool entries...camo pumpkin (leaves glued onto the face), plumber pumpkin...pipes, fittings, etc. for nose, eyes, ears, etc., Bobba Fett, Draculas, Ghouls, Witches, Werewolf, Gangsta, Racoon, Martha Stewart Pumpkin...Pat's , Vampire, Goofy Faces, Skeletons, etc. We had 59 people...a lot weren't there. It was a perfect fall night. Hope to see you soon at the getaway! I haven't heard the official word if you're coming or not. I'll pray it is so! xoxo
Because of #1, I have a horrible case of Middle Child Syndrome (MCS).
I cry very easily.....animated movies, commercials, game shows, Extreme Homemakeover (the phrase "MOVE THAT BUS!" makes me reach for the tissue box).
I love to bake. (The people at work like this about me.)
I had to take my driving test twice to get my license.
I was Valedictorian of my high school class (of 16).
Somehow I made it through high school and two years of college and never took a foreign language. (although I did have one semester of shorthand which was very foreign to me.)
My first "real job" (other than babysitting) was as an Orthodontic Technician....yes, I got to inflict pain on people.
Since a lot of Columbia people have already been tagged, I will tag some KC people so watch out Jennifer, Becky, Cameron, Clayton, Bethany, and Hayley.
Thanks Nanc!!!! No, I'm not going to the retreat this year. I have used up too much paid time off and have very little left. Jeri is going, which is good. I think she needs to. I wish I was going, too. Jeanne told us we needed to have our oldest sister come down and stay with the kids and dad, so we could both go. However Jeri & I are not for sure she could handle it all. I hope you get to go and your sister, too. Have fun!!!!! Maybe next year.
5th grade math is really hard! And no, I am not just talking about my kids. I am talking about me trying to help my kids with homework. Somehow math is REALLY different than when I was in 5th grade. I sit down with the workbook and see multiplication problems and think, "no problem, piece of cake". I am thinking, we will just multiply this number, carry this number, multiply again and add what was leftover.....but no! It isn't that easy. Now you have to have "clusters". You have to break down the number in tiny pieces and multiply all of the tiny pieces and skip count instead of just knowing that 10 x 8 = 80......
If I am having trouble helping my 5th graders with their math homework does that make me really dumb or just really old?
He does have a bumper pad but thats because he gets stuck in the bars during the night. So removing that can be hazardous too. We finally got it to the point that he doesn't fall out but he still stands and can't figure out how to get down.
Oh my goodness, Nancy... When I worked at the elementary school back in Lawson I had the hardest time helping kids with their math. Why they've gone and made math so much more confusing is beyond me!
Hey Nancy! It's Lisa (not Bethany). Are you up for the Ladies Retreat this year? I started handing out the invitations last night and realized that I don't have your new address to send one to you. It's Nov. 6-8 at Osage Beach. Let me know if you are interested and I'll get you the details! We would love to have you.
