Well, it had been raining this past week now off and on, thankfully just rain, unlike what parts of Texas experienced. We finally saw the sun on Thursday with warmer temps, Alleluia! I was so excited, I dug out the portable radio headset & hopped on my trusty 12 speed. Tuned into KLOVE (positive, encouraging music) soon I was on my merry way pedaling through the neighborhood. Does it not get any better? Well, there were a few minor bumps along the way. One young Marine, driving his truck, came around a bend looking in the direction of his passenger window. He didn't realize he was coming at me, on my side of the road, so I had to veer my bike into the yard off to my right. I stopped turned around with only enough time to yell out "YO! I am here". He kept on driving, not realizing what had happened. Well, "the sun was in his eyes". What did I do?...I continued riding along with KLOVE. Few minutes later a young man while driving was conversing on his cell phone. Imagine this, NOT paying attention, drove through his stop sign. He turned wide into my direction & persuaded me to, again, end up in someone's yard. At least this guy realized what he had done & waved at me...how nice of him. What did I do?...continnnnued riding along with KLOVE. Thankfully, I was able to put in a good 10 or 15 more minutes before the sun was to set.
Taking my final turn, heading down my street, I am relieved to see my home in the distance! Out of nowhere there it was, a black cat. He scurried across the path in front of me. What did I do?...continnnnued riding along with KLOVE...into my driveway...laughing.
Oh Yeah...I have to add, as a precautionary, I keep my cell phone clipped onto my handlebar in case of emergency. Throughout my bike ride I was able to text him, pay attention & ride defensively! I am WOMAN, see me multi task!
As I park the bike,Riley, my yellow lab barks out to me from the front window, "Open the door & let me out, it's my turn to play!". Yes, Riley, I will, for after that ride,"YO! I am here", my pleasure, my fine four legged friend. :)
Throughout my workweek I am lucky enough to have special friends, fellow employees that pass along uplifting, encouraging and sometimes "we all need them" fun & humorous emails.
My favorite of the month:
The road to success is not straight. There is a curve called Failure, a loop called Confusion, speed bumps called Friends, red lights called Enemies, caution lights called Family. You will have flats called Jobs. But, if you have a spare called Determination, an engine called Perseverance, insurance called Faith, a driver called Jesus, you will make it to a place called Success.
"I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me."
AMEN
