One way they are alike in North Texas is the changes in temperature from one day to the next. The wind howls from the North and the temperatures drop 15 degrees or so. The next day the wind might be howling from the South and heating back up. We also get ragweed, oak, mountain cedar, etc., when it blows from either direction. Great for the sinus. If it does snow or ice, it doesn't hang around long. Some years it seems Winter takes a vacation. Although we had about a two week spell it didn't get above freezing and had a hard time getting above 20. A perfect time for snow, but it was totally dry during that time.
I have some pictures around somewhere of the snow of 1964. About 12 inches. It was glorious.
