Since I moved to Georgia, in November 2008, I have been living in the basement apartment of my cousin's home in Fayetteville. Amanda, my cousin, and her husband, marc, have been very gracious landlords and have been very good to me. But, Fayetteville is about 25 miles East of Newnan and the plan was never to be in Fayetteville permenantly, just for a while until I found a place in newnan. Well, I have found a house to rent in Newnan and have been moving in bit-by-bit this week. I should be completely moved in by this coming weekend. The move will save me in time, gas and money, the my trip is not 18 miles one way to the church building. I will only be about 4 miles from the church building and within 10 miles of about half of the members. I'll also be a lot closer to the other members than I was in Fayetteville. I am really looking forward to living over there.
If you are ever in the Newnan area, let me know! I'll have plenty of room and you are always welcome!
We're so happy for you to have found a place. Just remember you are still welcome to any of our get-togethers even though you are no longer at Marc and Amanda's. :)
Hey cool! Sounds like things are going well and you enjoy living in GA. Call me some time and fill me in on all your dirt! ;)
I know I'm way premature in asking this, but do you know of any Smith Family holiday plans this year for Thanksgiving or Xmas? (Sorry to be talking about that in July!!) I'm just curious! I'd love to see y'all again and for everyone to meet Denny. I'll have to ask your mom. We're only a 12 hour drive from them! Piece of cake! Happy moving! Love and miss ya! :)
That's great! We'll have to look up Newnan. Got to see your parents and your sister and her family a couple of weeks ago! It was really good to see them all and meet Laura Kate! She's adorable!
How are ya liking your new home? I'm sure the drive to worship is awesome! Isn't that cool, you're going to have another little cousin! I hope we get to see y'all some time soon!
Hi, Adam. It's Jessica McKinney Diaz - from Helton Dr many years ago. Remember? Anyway, congrats on the new place. Frank and I are moving back to Florence in about 3 weeks. We'll be close to Maryandra and her family. :)
Adam! I was talking to a customer yesterday and I was pretty sure that he was from Africa from the sound of his accent...(similar to yours). When we were done talking, I said 'Baie Dankie', and he was quite shocked. We got a good chuckle out of it.
Hey Adam, this is Ryan Hasty. The church I attend in Chelsea converted an exchange student from the Netherlands and she is back home now desperately seeking a faithful church to attend. I remembered you did some work there a few years back and was wondering if you had any information you could send me about churches there. My email address is biblethumper77@hotmail.com....she's on fire for the Lord right now and I'm concerned for her....any help you can provide would be much appreciated!
Adam, sorry that I'm getting back to you this late. Yes, absolutely you can leave your car at our house, if you don't mind leaving a key in case we were to need to move it. Call tonight to get directions from Tim 334-651-0520. We should be home from bible study by 8:45 at the latest.
Last week I won, on the radio, four front row tickets to the broadway musical, The Lion King! I have seen it before but my sister and brother-in-law and four year old nephew, Phillip, had not. So they came over from AL on Sat. and we went to the Atlanta Civic Center to see the show.
It was GREAT! For me it was even better than the first time I saw it. I think Phillip really enjoyed it. His favorite character was Zazu! He was only frightened by a couple of the longer hyena scenes but Maryandra did a great job of distracting him durinig those times by pointing out the drummers, situated in the corner of the balconies to our immediate left and right, as they shook a rain stick or beat the bongo drums etc. James and Maryandra and I really enjoyed the puppets. The way they were made and operated was really interesting and we could figure that out because we were so close. Thia time, being so close up, I was able to get a better look at how things worked and were done. Really fun! In the beginning when the "animals" were coming on stage, four 15' stylized giraffes came to the front of the stage and bowed down over the orchestra pit behind which we were seated. If we'd stood up and reached out, we could have touched them. James and Maryandra really liked that up close experience. The costumes were fantastic, the music was wonderful, the acting was great!
I'm so glad we got to share that together! I hope Phillip will be able to remember it for a while.
This is the only broadway musical I have ever seen. Have you seen The Lion King? What is your favorite musical?
i have seen the lion king and it was so unique and special. but my most favorite broadway show of all time is "les miserables." i have seen it at least 5 times. :)
That is great that you guys of all people would get to see a musical based on animals from Africa! I'm sure it was great to describe the animals to Philip. 2 years ago Jeb and I were fortunate to see The Lion King while in NYC. I Loved it!!!
I've seen Phantom of the Opera, Spam-a-lot, and part of The Wizard of OZ I've also seen lot of other not quite so popular musicals as I had a friend who was a musical theatre major. I want to see Wicked.
I've seen The Lion King, Phantom of the Opera, Les Miserables, 42nd Street, Crazy for You, Showboat, Miss Saigon, Annie, Sweet Charity...Les Miserables is my favorite.
Hey, Adam! I found you! :) Question for you...we recently came in contact with info and addresses for Christians in Zimbabwe who are in need of non-perishable food items. I just wanted to see if I could run the addresses and info by you before sending a package. You can email me at jessicamarie2005 at yahoo dot com, and I'll respond with the info I have. Thanks so much! Hope you're doing well!
Did you get to the meeting finally? Hope so! Do you have any info on the singing this weekend. Just a reminder, no study friday, I know you were planning on going to that anyway.
Dear Adam - I confess I have tracked you down through your cousin Melia. It has been years and years since we have been in touch. How ARE you? What have you been up to for the last, oh, 10 years? I think the last I heard was that you had come back to the US, had come to visit the Givens clan and I couldn't meet you then for some reason. I pray that you and your family are well! Hope to hear from you soon and may God bless you with a fabulous day!
Hey, all of you who see Adam on a regular basis - would you mind telling him that his cousin Melia would like to know that he's still alive!! Please and thank you!! :)
Hiya Mister!! It's about time!! :) It was so great to hear from you!! We're doing just fine, haven't floated away yet. Guess we don't need those pairs of animals!
I have a couple different phone numbers for you and I'm not sure which one is current. I'd love to catch up with you some time. I miss ya! Hope everything's going great for you! Love and miss you! :) Hugs to Amanda and Marc!
Hey, y'all! We're kinda new to this blogging stuff, but kinda fun if don't get too involved and take up too much time. I don't write long dissertations like your Aunt Maybeth does!! LOL
Please pray for the Christians in Zimbabwe. They are having presedential elections this weekend. Please pray for peace and safety during the elections and for an outcome that will be beneficial to the people of this beautiful country. Some of you are aware of the terrible economic situation in Zim and the danger that sometimes accompanies presidential elections. There are many Christians in Zim and my family knows may of them personally. We also still have family living there. We appreciate your prayers! Thanks!
I hope things get better for them. It concerns me when my parents go over there, for their safety. (they will go again in Nov./Dec. this year) Maybe things will get better! Take care!
We watch the news with Eunice, our Zim caregiver who helps with Mom in the mornings. The present dictator continues to rig elections. He's in his 80's--guess he thinks he'll live forever and continue to run the economy into the ground. So sad!
I didn't know they were having bad problems like that, this just goes to show how out of touch I am with the rest of the world :( I will definitely be praying.
God's word is truly marvelous! I love discovering, in the Bible, interesting information that I didn't know was there. I especially enjoy the obscure information that really surprises me when I find it.
For example:
I'm sure you are famiiliar with Noah and his ark. But, did you know that there is another person named Noah in the Bible? And, did you know that the other Noah is a woman? It's true! In Numbers 27:1-11 a man named Zelophehad had five daughters who had a question about their inheritance. God told Moses that if any man had no sons his inheritance should go to his daughter, or daughters in Zelophehad's case.
Now to the point - one of Zelophehad's five daughters was named Noah!
And we thought it was a guy's name! :)
By the way, if you you are expecting a baby and are looking for interesting girls' names, Numbers 27:1 has five suggestions! ;)
"Mr. Noah built an ark, like God told him to"
Ms. Noah inherited land, like God told her to!
What interesting and obscure Bible fact have you discovered?
I think it's interesting that there is a male Gomer and a female Gomer in the bible (Japheth had a son named Gomer in Genesis 10:2 and then Hosea's wife name was Gomer). So I would say that Gomer is definitely a name idea for anyone having a baby...especially if it's a girl. :) Which you probably knew that info already but it's also interesting that the male Gomer was Noah's grandson.
^^ Please forgive my error....I should have said Hosea's wife's name instead of Hosea's wife name. I was tempted to re-write the whole thing but I didn't. :)
I was recently reading 2 Chronicles and was blown away by the sheer size of the altar of burnt offerings. It was not only big enough for an entire cow, but for the rest of the herd as well! Thanks for the great lesson Sunday and for the good fellowship at the Snyder's.
I'm sure that "Blake" and "Reed" will find that interesting. Last year I was talking with my 80 year old aunt and she told me that she had recently come to focus on something she had not in the past. It is one of those things that you have probably read before and believed atleast generally when you were saved but for me it was not in the forefront of my mind.
Romans 10:9, 'that if you confess with your mouth Jesus... (that part we focus on) and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead... (where did that come from!) you shall be saved.'
At the time I thought - wow.
Then for a Ladies Bible Class, I was flushing out the argument as to whether or not we should pray directly to Christ. I did a lengthy reading from Gal to Jude and slated every prayer, who said it and who it was said to. What an argument! I finally came to the conclusion based on 1 Cor 15:20-28. focusing on 28... 'Now when all things are made subject to God, then the Son Himself will also be made subject to God who put all things under Christ, that God may be all in all.'
Stay with me. This is funny. I was amazed when I found that because I didn't even know 1 Cor had a chapter 15 much less 16. I had focused hard on 12, the beginning of the spiritual gifts subject. Then in 13, Paul throws in the love passage concluding 'you'd better get your love together because when these things go away that is what you will have left.' Then in 14 he gets back to the Sp Gifts and how to use them and then at the end of 14 he hits us with that powerful statement, you know the one, 'If anyone thinks himself to be a prophet or spiritual, then let him acknowledge that the things which I write to you are the commandments of the Lord.' Whew! Come the end of that, I didn't now the rest existed!
15 has become my very favorite passage. I don't want to see another person get baptized that doesn't have that at the forefront of their mind. The total punchline is... what my aunt showed me, blossomed when I found chapter 15.
We are at least 2 generations from naming a baby Gomer. All parents and grandparents who have ever watched Gomer on the Andy Griffeth show or the spin off Gomer Pile, must die. No parent or grandparent wants to think of Gomer Pile when calling a child. heehee couldn't resist.
Adam, interesting fact! Funny the things we miss in the Bible sometimes. Adam, hope you had a great time in the Cabin. We are sure glad you came, and enjoyed the sunshine as well as the tempest with us! ARe you coming up for North Gwinnett's meeting this Friday at 7:30? Look on pleonast.com/simonsays for info
Hey! We had a great first night at the new building last night! The singing was really uplifting. A little girl was covering her ears while we were singing and I saw her telling her mom it was loud, so I guess that's a good problem. :) Wish I was close enough to go hear Sewell Hall this week...I've heard him a couple of times in the past. Hope you have a good rest of the week.
I hope the weather is as beautiful and "springy" where you are as it is here in north Georgia. The temps are wonderful 60s and 70s this week. I just hope they stay there for a while. The Bradford Pear trees are in full bloom and look like white gumdrops everywhere. There are a couple of trees, the names of which I do not know, with lovely pink blooms that liven up the palet. A few flowers (daffodils etc.) are blooming too, promising a kalidescope fo Spring colour to come. I can't wait! I love bright colours and so Spring is my second favorite season. Summer is my favorite because I just can't get away from the fact that I was born in the tropics and I love warmth!
Spring, come on down! You are the next contestant on The Cycle of Seasons! BRING IT ON, SPRING!!!!
P.S. However, I do sypathize with those of you who are plagued with springtime allergies! Achoo! God Bless you!
LOL, I didn't know what allergies were til I moved to where we are now! I love Spring and Fall, not too cold and not too hot.
What is it with you guys?!? My mom loves summer too (dry heat though, not the humidity)
They are planning on a trip to Zim. in Dec. and she is excited about being there in the summer! Not me, no thanks, I hide in the A.C. during the summer! ;-)
Enjoy your seasons, ;-) You have a neat way of describing it!
Hugs
It was great seeing you too! It's wonderful to spend time with Christians who seem to truly enjoy studying God's word! Hope you had a great time with your friends from Texas when you got home. By the way, summer is definitely my favorite season too! I could tell from talking to you this past weekend that you really appreciate God's creation!
Hey! This weekend isn't good (Kelli's parents are in town) but Macon has a big festival starting March 28 and running through April 6. Maybe you could come down and hang out with us on one of those weekends.
So glad you made it home! It's fun to look at a map and figure out another way to go...I love doing things like that! It was great to talk to you and I hope you have a wonderful Lord's day tomorrow!
