We've finally settled into our new house in Searcy. We moved here just a little over two weeks ago, and we're somewhat near some sense of normality.

I started a new job at Aristotle Web Design just a few days after we moved in. It's going pretty well; I think I'm gonna really like it there.

Adjusting to life in a small town is tricky after living in a major metro area for 6 years. But I think it's gonna be worth it; Searcy is a great little community, and it's been nice re-connecting with old friends.

We just can't count the ways God is blessing us!
bryanharwellI hope you're enjoying your new home.
fantabularSeems like everyone I know is moving. I guess the housing market isn't as bad as they keep saying it is. Good luck in your new "small town"! (makes me think of that John Cougar Mellencamp song =)
bryanharwellYeah, she was pretty happy about it, actually. But nothing could outdo Steven's comment.

Inheritance 02-10-08 02:51pm CST
Well lookee here, I finally posted to this blog again!

Sorry I pretty much abandoned it. I just wasn't into blogging like I thought that I would be. However, lately I've been doing some blogging with my new musical project, so I'm feeling more up to it now.

A week ago, we were visiting my family in Alabama, and I picked up a very special gift. It's my inheritance from my Granny who passed away in 2005. It's a car full of memories; more specifically, it's Granny's 1981 Mercury Zephyr. My brother and I spent numerous hours in that car, with Granny at the wheel. Twice a week she picked us up from school. Also, we were always over at her house (she lived less than a block from us), so we frequently went places with her.

My aunt Nancy now lives in Granny's house, and has been the curator of Granny's things. So, it was her that signed the car over to me. It's an honor that she asked me if I wanted it.

Despite its age, the Zephyr is in surprisingly good condition. Granted, it sat unused in a garage for over 3 years, but on the whole, it was very well taken care of. Sure it has its issues, but it still runs pretty well (it successfully made the 200-mile trip to Memphis), especially with the new set of tires I bought for it.

I have plans to restore the car to prime condition, and that won't be too difficult considering how well it was maintained (I have a very good starting point).

I'm still setting up a blog to document the restoration process. I will post a link when it's ready. In the meantime, here is a picture of the car I took this afternoon:
