The bandage is off - has been for about a week now - and Gary's thumb is looking pretty good. You wouldn't call the tip of his thumb 'nicely rounded' anymore, but it's not totally flat either. As my mother would have said, "His thumb has character" now!
We were blessed to be able to celebrate Dylan's 6th birthday with him on Monday and I had the pleasure of being able to play with Caleb and Hannah that day as well! Grandchildren...what a joy! :)
Saturday, the 25th, there will be a Men's Day at Fayette with lessons on The Christian Man and His Finances and then the following Saturday, Nov. 1, we'll have a Ladies' Day with lessons on being Victims or Victors in Christ. We're looking forward to it. [Kinda wish I could be there to hear the lessons on finances too. Guess Gary will fill me in.]
Happy Autumn to One and All!
I updated your picture. Hope you don't mind. BTW, we had a great time with you all. And, for those that don't know, Dad's thumb still has nerve damage - it could take a while for that to heal.
Okay, I'm going to hop on the soapbox for a minute - one thing I've told a few people is that the reason our country is in a credit crisis is because people aren't taught how to manage their money. Schools spend so much time worrying about subjects that shouldn't be taught in school anyway, but little attention seems to be given to managing money! I've thought a lesson on finances would be very appropriate at this time - I wish I could be there to hear it. Okay, hopping off the soapbox now. :) Glad to hear the thumb is looking better.
No one is crying in the picture. They are all zoned out watching tv. The one you are thinking about has Drew sitting in a chair beside the couch at Neal and Suzy's around Christmas.
Hi Maureen! I am glad Gary's thumb is doing better. So you think it has a little character to it. When are you coming back down this way? I always look forward to seeing you. And we have some precious grandchildren here, too.
The doctor was glad to see that there was no infection. He gave him the tetanus shot, washed the wound with hydrogen peroxide, covered it with vaseline, and bandaged it back up. The dead skin will turn black while new skin forms beneath it. SO...all is well so far, although the doctor DID tell him that he (the doctor) would have liked to have seen it the day it happened.
I am thankful it's okay.
Black!! eeewwww!! Gross!!! Guess you don't need any "Nursey stuff" when you already went to the doctor. My only advice is...Keep that ucky thing under cover so you don't scare away small children! (Unless they're bugging you!!)
Oh...bye the bye...if you get the chance I think Samantha would really benefit from some written corespondence. Apparently she has no contact with ANY of her siblings. She seemed genuinely(sp?) happy to hear from me & asked that I write her. Just a thought.
HELLO...HELLO...I'm actually here and not just a figment of Wayne's imaginings. : )
There are only two things I can think of that you dear folks don't know already. [You are a very well-informed, smart bunch, you know.] #1 is that Gary is to go to the doctor this morning in regard to his thumb that he cut on the table saw Monday evening. He realized last night that he should have at least gone to get a tetanus shot, so he hopes to get one today as well as let the doc look at his wound - which still looks pretty bad.
Secondly, I am scheduled to start doing a little reading tutoring with Dylan's class next week. I plan to go in on Tuesdays and Suzy will be doing it on Thursdays. We will work one-on-one with each child for 2 or 3 minutes in a program called "Great Leaps." I'm looking forward to getting to know his classmates in the process of helping them along with their reading.
Thanks to all for your patience with me about blogging.
Praying regarding the finger. Scared me to know he was just doctoring it himself. The tutoring sounds like it will be a fun job. The kids will love you.
Wow! You did decide to make the leap. That is great!!! I hope Gary is ok. Let us know what the doctor says about his thumb. You'll enjoy working in Dylan's class. I haven't gotten involved with my grandson's classes but I have gone on field trips with Cheryl's girls. I really enjoyed those trips.
When the peer pressure is from people you love(& your pestery "little sister" tee hee!!)...you can only hold out for just so long!! Glad you made the leap! Well...now I must confess I lied. I don't really know anything you don't know...except some "nursey" stuff maybe. I guess the "nanny nanny -boo boo" should have been my taunt ending!!!
