Yippy Skippy! IT'S FRIDAY!!!... 10-30-08 10:14pm CST
in 49 minutes!

I just needed to move on from my last entry.

I wish each and every one of you a super weekend! I intend to do the same.

NightNight.
trevaesaIt's really strange being 2 hours behind everyone...

Have a great weekend!
cruisingmomThanks. I will plan on a super weekend and hope yours is too!
this_old_manWow! You were up late.I stay up late when I am busy with a project but I pay for it the next day.
nickkrumreiOurs is called Guadalahara, but I think it is in the same chain as El Loro, They are very good! Just Duluth only has bad Mexican food. So it had been years or visits to Hilary. You have a choice of many great places, we have maybe 4 or 5 and that is it. And yes we will make it a point to come see you. Do you like whacky coffee cups? Do you use one at work?
the_momWe actually have some pretty good mexican places right here in Athens, Alabama!
bossmayfieldthanks for the comment. No I don't have a liscense to fly but I love all things avaiation. The plane in the pic is a 1941 sterman , a buddy of mine has it in Fairbault, Mn. If you ever get a change to go in a bi-palne do it!
alp1926Good weekend to you, too.
preacherdavetxHey Patty, my post was probably more confusing then it was helpful. I was really just saying that even by not voting (if done for the right reasons) you can actually still be voting for something. But I am going to the polls. I think I've made up my mind. God Bless.
iammountainfolkPatty, the El Loro in Eagan has expanced and the wait time is almost zero now
preacherdavetxHey Patty, don't forget to vote if you get a chance today. It's one of the most meaningful and encouraging you can make.
nickkrumreiBeen a while, how are you, Vince, Helen and the kids doing?
tryphenaCatapult in the backyard: The result of last winter's Physics project. Five girls wielding power tools in my basement. Two daddies "supervising" the work and laughing hysterically at the squeals every time a drill broke through a board. Me, fixing lots of food for all, because power tools stimulate hunger. The plan was/is to have a bonfire and destroy The Assassin, as the catapult was named. They got an A on the project, BTW!
this_old_manGlad your Mom got a chuckle. I just discovered the Squirrel Nut Zippers. I think they are great.
preacherdavetxHAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!

AAAAAArrrrrrgggggggghhhhhhhhhhh!!!!! 10-08-08 09:10am CST
I have been trying and trying to get a new picture on this site, and want to put pic's in Gallery, and can't manage to figure it out. I know I'm no genius with technology, but have usually been able to play around and get it figured out. I was sent a tutorial to reference, but it might as well be in Chinese!

So, am I this ignorant or is this system not user friendly? Don't answer that! If ignorance is bliss, I'm in paradise. I will try and be patient and get a tutor here to help me (so, how ya doin' Aaron?)figure it out. Not sure how I got the 1st picture on here, didn't take long at all.

Enough of my fuss-fest. Thanks for enduring. Enjoying all your pic's and videos. Maybe one day I can share some too. (heavy sigh)
mill2093I just played around with adding to a gallery for myself. I see, you did get the one picture. I noticed that there were issues for myself that after I selected a file (from browse), the file name didn't show up very well. However, it was there, so when I clicked "upload pictures" it worked.
If you are having problems getting to a screen to add photos, go to the gallery, click "edit", then "add pictures" at the next screen. Clicking in the white boxes will allow you to pick a photo from your computer, then click the "upload pictures."
You might also be having issues with the photograph size (limited to 500 kb). If that is the case, I don't recall how to fix that. You should be able to check the picture sizes from your computer.
mill2093Also, if they aren't loading, make sure the file extension is ".jpeg".
mill2093By the way, did you and Vince move to IGH and I not realize that?
dshSorry you're having trouble with pictures. I know it's very frustrating until you learn. I've never done a gallery. Make sure your pictures aren't too big. I usually do mine 400 x 300 pixels or something close to that. Good luck!
split_rockI size mine down to 800 x 600 before trying to upload to the gallery. It's frustrating, that's for sure. Also the galleries aren't private, even if your entries are. For most of the pictures I post on my blog, I upload to photobucket first (link is on my links listing), then copy and paste the HTML code from photobucket and paste to my blog entry.
alp1926I found I had to re-size them to get them into my galleries. I've stopped putting them there for the reason she stated, and I make my entries private when there are pics. My flickr and photobucket accounts are private, too. Then my kids put our pics out there for the world to see. Oh well . . . what can I say. Good luck. Hope you figure it out so we can enjoy your pics.
anitajI'm no expert and don't post pictures very often, but I'm with Eva. I use Photobucket, too.
mill2093Wow, I guess I am just (a lot) behind the times.
trevaesaThanks! Have you had any luck with figuring out the photo gallery thing? I hope so!
this_old_manA true punster lives for groans! :) I am John BTW. Nice to meet you.
alp1926Thanks for your concern for our daughter's friend. She has worried so much about her the last couple of weeks. I just hope she continues to do well.
this_old_manThe maker does not want it, the buyer does not use it, and the user does not see it - what is it?
ruthkrumreiey Patti--I emailed the chicken tortilla soup recipe to Vince's address :) I hope I got it to you in time.
this_old_manA coffin!
rachelwI don't think it was podcasted. I will find out for sure though.
this_old_manYes come one come all to Loachapoka, Alabama! It's the Lee County Historical Society Historical Fair. It is how we raise money to keep the Museum open. I use to be the blacksmith but arthritis slowed that down. So I cook camp stew in the outdoor cooking display. I fix 3 12 gallon washpots of stew and I am usually sold out by noon. We had about 15,000 in attendence last year.
this_old_manAs Shakespeare put in "Twelfth Night" "There is no slander in an allowed fool." I do have a serious side but I keep it in check in this "serious enviroment";-) I hope we meet someday. I am soon to retire and my wife and I hope to do some traveling. Minnesota would be fun to see.
this_old_manI need to dicover what you Minnesotains call "hotdish". Garrison Kellior raves about it.
this_old_manWow, you have lived all over the place! What made you come to roost in Minnesota?
this_old_manHe can't sing worth a flip, but his sound reminds me when I was young, That is the reason I put the Weird Al parody on there as well. He is poking fun at Dylan. :)
this_old_manDid you notice in the video that all of Weird AL's lyrics are Palindrones? I think Weird Al has more talent.

lazy about posting...GOSPEL MEETING...new sister in Christ 09-15-08 09:52pm CST
Hi. I guess I get so into reading everyone else's post, by the time I'm done with that I'm late for bed and have only replied on others' blogs. It's all so interesting that I could become neglectful of my other "duties" around the home and for my family.

This week we are having a gospel meeting (Ephesians) with Arthur Anderson from Texas. Very good speaker. Kinda boastful about the Dallas Cowboys, tho. ;) (our regular preacher Rennie Frazier is a Cowboys fan too so he's enjoying the double-digging against the Vikes) All in fun. At this moment the Dallas game is on TV and they're 41-37 ahead of the Eagles with 4 1/2 minutes left. Is it wrong to pray for a certain team to lose? (kidding)..(or not)

Please pray for my new friend Susan who I will be studying with starting next week after this gospel meeting. She comes from a pentecostal-type background but was "re" baptized 2 weeks ago at our building. She has been coming to the meeting. Shame on me that it's been a long time since I've been on a one-on-one study..I have usually been with another Christian. A little nervous. Realize I should not be! It's not for lack of confidence in God's Word, just my own short-comings in remembering where certain passages are found (yea for the concordance) and not letting her intimidate me cuz she is very strong spoken on what she believes. Fortunately we have just started a study on the Holy Spirit in Bible Class, which seems to be her (only) topic of choice. Gonna suggest we study and agree 1st on fundamentals then move on to the deeper topics? Do you agree? Suggestions very welcome.

Thanks for listening. Love you.
pattylou(heavy sigh)..Cowboys are gonna win..they have the ball and only a minute to go..just have to kneel and they've won 41-37) guess I still should show up for tomorrow nights meeting, huh?
rachelwYou are so sweet in the way you post. I feel like I know you! I don't have any suggestions on your Bible study, but I will offer my prayers for you to be knowledgable and for you to have the right words and right answers for your friend.
trevaesaI agree that first studying the fundamentals is a good move. This will help emphasize the basis that all of the deeper topics have been built on. Will be praying. :)
nickkrumreiI got scrapple in our March visit to Jersey. It was very good. I was disappointed that I failed to plan refrigeration. How do you make it?

I always like to start studies with authority. Sets a good foundation.

Yea for concordance's! And for opening prayers.
rdockensYes, start with the basics. As others have mentioned, authority is a good start. I'll pray that your study goes well.
the_momI think if you pray for the other team to win, it's okay and that way you get the outcome you want :)
lilahThank you for the welcome to pleonast, I too believe that you should start with the fundamentals and she will understand more of what she is questioning you about on the Holy Spirit, and hopefully grow from that
cruisingmomI will pray for you and the study with Susan.
split_rockWe so thoroughly enjoyed our visit in your home on Sunday! You have a beautiful home, and the dinner was delicious. We so appreciate your hospitality!
split_rockHope your study with Susan was beneficial to both of you!
anitajI didn't get to watch the Cowboys game -- I was grocery shopping. :)
trevaesaNo... haven't played Kick the Can. Is it as simple as it sounds?
magSo good to find you Pattilou
jadycGreat to see you on here. I hope you're doing well. That's great to hear about the recent baptism!
nickkrumreiAre you broken? First rule of repair, is it working, don't mess with it. How is my friend Yogi? I miss the big lug. Ruth made a big pot of chili. UUUMMMMM UH! it is mighty fine eatin. How is Mom? Tell her I asked about her.
the_momTo me, one of the very first things you need to study with someone is about Biblical authority. If you're not both on the same page about how to decide what is right and wrong, then you'll have difficulties later.
the_momAnd I see another connection! My daughter, Sommer, works with Jady at FC. :)
mill2093Twas good to see you as well.
rdockensI don't think she heard Katrina, we were not close to the stage.

The Great Minnesota Get Together 08-28-08 06:54am CST
Vince and I grazed our way through the State Fair on Tuesday, and after me losing quite a bit of weight in the last year, I kidded myself that if we only buy 1 of each thing we're interested in eating, then split it, we'd be doing OK. Ever heard of Pig Lickers? The most wonderful bacon dipped in the best chocolate in MN. I know that sounds awful, but I'm always game to try something out of the ordinary, and I liked it. Vince wasn't as thrilled with his 1/2 portion, but thought it was interesting.

Anyway, we did the park and ride thing, and on the bus on the way to the fair there was a guy with a long ponytail which kept me from being able to read his t-shirt, but, as coincidence will have it, we happened to take the bus back to our cars at the same time, and he had to stand, his ponytail was tucked into his shirt, so I grabbed my handy little notebook and jotted down this State Fair Prayer. It was so fitting with how I physically felt on that ride home. Shame on me for overdoing it. (can be sung to the tune of The Doxology). Here goes:

"Oh, Lord protect this festival.
The riders as they rise and fall,
the jams and pickles and the pies.
Competing for the first Grand Prize.

O, Lord we thank thee for this food
when we are in a cheese curd mood.
For Pronto Pups and onion rings.
Donuts and all deep fried things.

Praise God from whom all blessings flow.
Praise Him for fair and rodeo.
Praise Him for sugar and for grease
and may He grant our stomachs peace."

Giggle. Gotta go now...heading for the Y to prove my repentance for falling off the weight-loss wagon. I don't have to work today! Yea!
trevaesahaha Cute! Sounds like you had fun :)
tryphenaLOL!! That's GREAT!

And, no, I've never heard of Pig Lickers before now. The picture it creates in my mind is...warped.
rachelwBacon and chocolate?! Yuck! :-) I do like the song, though. I know the feeling!
mill2093I am just going to comment abou Adam and Ellen. The rest you will see at a later time on my blog. I haven't talked to Adam, but I think he is as well as possible given the situation. I don't think that is something that ever leaves you. Ellen is still interested in coming some Sunday evening. So, that is encouraging.
nickkrumreiI am so jealous, I want a pig licker! I got a pleo-post from Fredric Gray he preached in Duluth in 1992, I seem to vaguely recall him from camp way back when. Heather came to camp in 1991 at Grindstone Lake. Were you at camp then? Ruth the girls and I came down for the Friday night talent show. I have video's I should have brought them to you.
nickkrumreicreate_a_way is Fredric Gray's blob. You can get a link from my blob site. I hope you are doing great. I miss you bad!!! Hug Yogi really tight for me, and kiss Lila on the muzzle for me.
rachelwJust dropping in to say hello!
cruisingmomHowdy. Nice to meet you. Nick is a hoot. Isn't PleoLand great? It takes no time at all to have a bunch of new friends/family. I am addicted! My honey buns and I love going to county fairs here in Ohio. Did not make it to the state fair this year. Ummm, fair food.
cruisingmomI have Fox News on in the back round. They just did a piece on the Minn State Fair.
I saw a Pig licker. And learned some lingo - don't ya know?

nickkrumreiFredric is here, just click his name and it will take you to his blob. You can ride my 4-wheeler. We have great trails for riding. If I get the other going we can tandem and take them up to Carol trail. Probably 20 miles of trails.
rdockensThank you! The boys sure are a bundle of energy :-)
tryphenaThe cardinal vine was not noticeably fragrant. I think the brilliant color will attract hummingbirds, though, don't you?
alp1926I must work on those pics. And don't worry about your English with me. Mine ain't always that great either. :)
nickkrumreiLove you Goomer!!!! Darlene is getting geo-thermal next week. I told her to talk to you, last minute changes you wished you had done, kind of thing. Take care of my sweet Babba Choo, aka Hilary. Talk to you in a couple of weeks.
split_rockBob says, "Not sushi" . . . . other than that . . . . We really don't know who's there anymore; thanks for asking, though. Can't wait to meet you on the 21st!
mill2093The gold status is new, yes?
nickkrumreiYou get Bob and Eva? Nice! We are hoping to snag them for Sunday lunch. Hugs to all. We have clothing for "Pat-the-baby" Did you know the family knick named Aaron and Hilary's son? Seems to work for a launch name.
nickkrumreiOoo tell me all about the visit with Bob and Eva, did you serve them sushi? I love sushi, but in lieu I get to eat pickled herring. We just walked in the door, not to worry about the card, you can give it to me for camp in the spring. And we will be down soon for a baby shower. Did I tell you the family has the interim name of Pat-the-baby for Heewee? Perfect name huh?
magPattylou, I can't believe I found you on Pleo. Mag

08-23-08 07:42am CST
Good morning everyone! Want to thank everyone who has welcomed me to pleo. I was kindly prodded a little about signing up, and for whatever really odd reason, felt a little "shy" about it. For those of you that know me well, I'm NOT shy. Anyway, just to say I am 100% enjoying this and the daily reminder of brothers and sisters around the country. I love to laugh and had quite a few LOL moments on pleo, alongside with heartfelt empathy for things some brethren are dealing with. I'm looking forward to finding more old friends and new friends here.

Hope you all have a great weekend. Ours is very busy. Leafletting this morning, (great weather, yea!) then helping a dear sister move, mowing, harvesting our garden, then cleaning the building. I've got $20 for anyone out there that wants to do the latter for us. OK, how 'bout $25?
pattylou..ok, do I hear $25.99???
pattylou..how 'bout a French Silk Pie?
tryphenaOOooh! I'll clean the building for you!! Except, I'm in Indiana, so I can't. But if good intentions were good enough, consider it clean. :-P
split_rockThese good intentions come from even further away in Ohio! Hope you get some local takers!
iammountainfolkHere are some tutorials on how to use pleonast a little more
http://www.pleonast.com/room.php?%%SID%%&roomI D=2366
http://pleonast.com/room.php?%%SID%%&roomID=4 65
alp1926There is a young family that worships with us that lives in Amherst. It's nice to meet another Ohioian. I was born and raised in Cleveland. It will be nice to get to know you. Please visit my blog anytime.
alp1926And I was very "shy" about this whole pleo thing, too. I'm not shy either, but there's something about putting my writing out there for the world to see that intimidates me. I've been on here two years now, so I think I'm overcoming it. We can help each other. :)
alp1926Oh, and thank you. I am doing much better. I was a sick puppy for awhile there. It makes you really appreciate your health when it's compromised for awhile.
holly_annI would love to take you up on your offer! I had the opposite kind of weekend... very boring (and I'm not easily bored!)
dshThank you!
trevaesaGood intentions from Oklahoma, as well!
rdockensI would like to add to your welcomes. I do hope you enjoy yourself here. My name is Rachel, and I live in North Las Vegas, NV.
ruthkrumreiHey Pat-Glad you are on pleo. I need to post more often. i just seem to get busy with other things:)
rdockensIf I lived during Reagan's campaign, I would have wanted to be as involved as you were. Bryan, my husband, actually worked at his library for many years.
rachelwJust popping in to say hi. How are you enjoying pleo? Awesome isn't it?
nickkrumreiIt's a dirty job but somebody has to do it. I have the harbor cam for Grand Marais in my favorites, and there is one for Duluth too, you can see what my weather is like.
nickkrumreiThere is another verse to the serenity prayer. "The creativity to hide the bodies so they will never be found", you may want to leave that verse out. ;)
