I love the month of December... 12-01-08 11:08pm CST

I do not like being cold!
sirtarinCome on! You're not going to thank me for pointing out a typo that you made?! ;D

I prefer not to be cold. But I love snow. =)

sirtarinSince when did you start taking orders from your daughter? ;)
laughing_eyesme either ... we play 42 ... come on down for a game
kasa_momI don't like to be cold either. This is one reason I live in the south.
twiggyburrrrr!
homeschoolmomma23I like the cold, so much more than heat and humidity.
spicegirl255I hate being cold, but I love Christmas.
bandmomI love pretty Christmas lights!! :)
carolattheriverWinter is the WORST!
cyber_space_cadetI'm not a big fan of the cold myself.

That's a really pretty graphic.

How was your holiday?
sirtarinOh, and I tried watching it, but it's not doing much... Hup! It just stirred to life. =D
sirtarinIt's pretty silly. =)
mockinbirdI am a southern girl no matter how long I live above the Mason Dixon. I do not like the cold, the snow, the ice , the sub zero temps,....i.e. winter
mockinbirdI have a ballcap with GRITS on it. It stands for "girls raised in the south" ( I guess now it can stand for Gramma.) 20 years combined northern living will never wash the south out of me

Thinking... 11-28-08 10:47pm CST

I was reading entries between two different people, about how this Thanksgiving Holiday isn't just about eating, it's about being thankful!
This got me to thinking.

Being thankful for our blessings is a good thing which I am quite aware of...and I feel I have taught this to my children...but I've also decided we are not very "demonstrative" in this behavior, and am wondering why. I feel personally that I show thankfulness, tho perhaps not as much as I should, but I find it interesting that as a family we don't seem to make others aware of this. (except in avenues such as pleonast!)

I see thankfulness among other family members,
and read their blogs about how grateful/thankful they are for each other or certain/many things, but I don't see that in my own family. This got me to thinking "Why don't I?"

Is this a taught behavior? An inbred behavior? A learned behavior?
Or am I just being sentimental and worrisome?
prov3110Is it really necessary to make others aware of our thanksfulness toward God? Or is that approaching the bounds of self-righteousness (as in the praying Pharisee)?

For me - I have a hard time making public my thankfulness. For one - there are SOOOO many things, if I were to start naming any of them I'd never finish, and I would invariably leave something out that is (to me, at least) on a higher scale than something I did mention. So many things for which I'm thankful are more a matter between God and me, as well as the reasons why.

FWIW - I do see a lot of thankfulness in your blog; definitely more than I see in my own.
joy2uHi mom! I miss you! Tell Jewel hi!
didowThey may even have to clear a place on the floor to sit. :)

Thankfulness is a taught behavior. God was continually teaching the Israelites to be thankful. Jesus taught the disciples to be thankful in their prayers. I do think people can show it in ways other than just saying the words, "Thank you".
spicegirl255Yep, that was the show I was referring to. I always hoped as a child that the man would knock on our door some day. We had so little!!! We managed though...and were THANKFUL!
spicegirl255^^^Agree with Didow...I taught my kids to be grateful but I do not always see it now.
whipsmileI am very thankful that I have reconnected with you!
sirtarinI think I agree with her. =)

By the way. You have two "i"'s in the middle "behavior" in your second to last line. =)

If you need a place to go for Thanksgiving.... 11-17-08 11:48am CST

We'd like to share Thanksgiving with you! It will be "just us" and we'll have plenty to share. I-40, exit 82...just let us know!

Bob makes a great pie, we love my homemade bread, Joycelyn is the queen of green bean casserole, and Tia is jolly good at making jello! Y'all come!
sirtorinWe actually might be in the (rather rough) vicinity, as we're going down to Abalama to see the relatives on Mother's side. However, that means we already have somewhere to be. =)
sirtarinDoes your pictures and caption mean that your puppy died? =(
sirtorinNo, we'll be going down to Cullman, since Grandma moved from Moulton a while back. She's in Cullman now, and we have an Aunt and Uncle there too. =)
blessings_of_a_momI would love to come, but we are have the privildge of seeing family. I hope someone does come and share it with you though. We had Thanksgiving alone once, and it was depressing.
sallyanneSure wish it was closer ;)
curlieSounds wonderful. My parents will be here. Have a great time!
sirtarinI'm sorry. =(
sirtorin^ =(
laughing_eyesthat sounds so great! wish i could be there!
memento_moriyeah... y'know, maybe I should move back in with Nicole...

or not. :-D
mockinbirdThanks for the invite, wish we could take you up on it. How far is Jackson from Murfreesboro? That's where my folks are. Sorry about your loss. Was she another Italian Greyhound? We lost our greyhound several years ago, and I still miss him. He was a rescue dog and a real sweetheart.
dragon_bladeI'm so sorry about Sugar!! :( I know that she was well-loved though, and probably had a better life then most dogs could EVER expect. :) I wish that we could come, but we'll be in Florida for Thanksgiving.
spicegirl255Ooooohhh...sorry about your dog. We will be with a crowd for the holiday, but thanks for the invite!
