Hannah is doing a report on capital punishment for school and her library book about this with a picture of an electric chair on the cover was lying on our island. A friend noticed the author's name - Jim Gottfried. Get it?!!! Got fried!!. We had a huge laugh.
Thank you for the b-day wishes for both of my children! They both do remember you. wish we could see you, but with gas prices so high, traveling is a big luxury right now! KWIM?
Thanks! We went to Powers Ferry for their meeting with Jason Moore and had dinner with friends there afterwards. It was an enjoyable evening but I am tired this morning.
haha! Great post! I just realized I didn't have you on my friend's list! I don't know how that happened! :) See you tomorrow...oh, and I'm going to try to call you too! If not, we can always talk at the building! :)
The bookstore is on hold because of the economy. Someone said that when the US has a cold, Mexico has pneumonia. That's pretty much true here right now. Thanks for volunteering on the package. I'll assign families soon.
Those are really cool pictures! I too, wish we could have seen you on our trip up to RI... the Dallas trip, I flew, so that would have been impossible. The RI trip, we brought our dog... didn't want to burden anyone with "can we bring our dog?" I mean, i did do that to our relatives up in RI, but I know you have a dog, as does the other family in your area that we go see. Didn't want to complicate things, you know? Besides, we came up and down on 95, so we weren't really near you. Maybe next time... I wish we could see you all more often...
Thanks Pam. I had a really good day, spending it with my boys and my parents. Jay and Aby came over too (you met them at my house a couple of weeks ago). Aby made a very deliciuos sour cream pound cake... I didn't need it but it was so yummy!!
Well, believe it or not, I'm finally updating! Just want to share our wonderful vacation. We flew into Denver, CO, and immediately began walking (yes, walking through downtown Denver) to a Colorado Rockies baseball game. Not my favorite thing to do but the boys really enjoyed it. The next day we drove to the top of Mt. Evans, which claims the title of the "world's highest paved roads." Yes, we drove 14,000 feet with no rails! It was rather exhilirating, breathtaking, exciting and very fun! There was even snow on the top which the kids could actually play in.
On Sunday we worshiped with a church in Golden, CO. We both missed Steve! That afternoon we drove through Rocky Mountain National Park. It was beautiful. We saw real wild mountain goats. Lots of snow up there, too.
Sunday night we drove to Steamboat Springs, CO, a ski resort. Very fun seeing the ski slopes. The kids are dying to go back in the winter. We may actually do that! We hiked around Steamboat Springs Monday and that evening we went on a horse drawn wagon ride that ended with a weiner roast. Also made somores. Yum.
On Tuesday we drove into Wyoming to go to a rock quarry to dig for real fossils. At the end of a very long dirt road we finally arrived at the "Fossil Safari". It was SO cool! We paid for the kids but I think Ken had the most fun there. Within the first 30 minutes, Grant had found some uncommon fossil fish. The guy said it would sell for around $150. We found several other fossils, but non as rare as the first. Ken carried them home to Atlanta very carefuly in a backpack. They arrived in one piece - yeah!
We spent Wednesday traveling to Park City, Utah, via Idaho. Yes, I have been to Idaho!! It was way pretty than I had imagined. We had dinner at Dan's Delicious Drive-In, the only restaurant open in Montpelier, ID. It wasn't delicious and it took forever.
Thursday morning we toured the Olympic Park where the 2006 Winter Olympics were held. It was fun seeing the athletes training in the summer, skiing down a dry slope and landing in a big pool. Very neat. That evening, we went on a sunset horseback ride. I'm not sure why my daughter loves horseback riding so much.
Friday we drove about an hour and a half to go ATV riding in Christmas Meadows, Utah. That was more work than fun to me. There were way to many rocks and hills to manuever. But, I can say I've done that. Of course, the kids want an ATV now. That evening after dinner, Hannah and I rode one of the world's longest zip lines. We sailed over the tree tops! I was very proud of myself for doing that.
Sadly, it was time to fly home on Saturday. The week flew by but we have some wonderful memories. If you ever get the chance to go out there, do! It was a great place to vacation.
BTW, I think the zip line is so cool! That's something that I want to do, just don't know if I will have the opportunity or gain the courage for it. You inspired me! :-)
