I wasn't tagged, so here goes:
1.
2.
3.
4.
5.
6.
7.
8.
That was easy.
And so, I tag you. Please tell us about these topics. It will be interesting to see what you think they are, by what I read when I go to your blog.
Okay, it won't be interesting to see that, but it was interesting to think about it/say it. |

From Dr. Johnson:
-------------
"Covalent bonds are all about sharing. Ionic bonds are more like, 'Gimme that.'"
Which inspired this thought (which I didn't share to the class): "Covalent bonds are communist."
-------------
"Copolymers contain two mers."
Which then leads to a nerdy joke that I worked out in my head (and you have to do the voices, although I haven't seen the movie):
(In the voice of Arnold Schwarzenegger:) "I have some ABS here. Can anyone tell me something about it?"
(little girl voice:)"Maybe it's a two mer."
(Ahnold) "It's not a two mer."
and it continues...
(girl) "Maybe it's a three mer."
(Ahnold, defeatedly) "Okay."
-----------
Regarding the lab tests that managed to kill mice or whatever:
"Pure saccharin is actually disgusting. It's sweet, and then it takes it way too far."
-----------
Regarding some plastic, summarizing a section of the MSDS safety info:
"If you eat it, you will probably need to seek medical help, as well as mental help."
-----------
"So, [you] can't even do this right on the diagram."
-----------
"This... is just shameless self promotion."
-----------
"Think back to spaghetti."
-----------
"You've kind of crossed the rubicon of your material. The point of no return."
-----------
"You could say that colorants brought down the Soviet Union."
Regarding the fact that The West had the patents on good plastic coloring, which explains why colors in the pictures of Soviet Russia look kind of weird. It's because they were. And the dull colors made the people sad and want to be free and stuff.
-----------
"So everyone switched to hydrocl... hydro-chloro-fluoro-carbons, which are not only harder to say, they don't work as well."
-----------
Speaking as both sides of a conversation, regarding a video touting smoke removal as a benefit of a particular laser cutting machining:
"'Our machine removes smoke.' 'Well, why does it generate smoke?' 'Don't worry about that.'" |

Displays like this aren't why I love Texas A&M. I love A&M because of the spirit within so many of my fellow Aggies that causes things like this to be done, that causes students walking by to stop, to take a picture, to honor the fallen or reflect on that day.
===
I was 20 when the attacks on the World Trade Center Towers and The Pentagon and the victory in Pennsylvania occurred. Do you realize that students in this year's college freshman class were 11 on that day? Joel was 11, and has done something that I would recommend others his age do, now that you are older and more mature and can comprehend the magnitude of the events more than when you were still in middle school.
September 11, 2001 was a day of great tragedy and evil, but it was also a day of even greater love and heroism.
Emergency personnel, civilian volunteers, and passengers on flight 93. I don't think we can truly appreciate the good things that happened without seeing the evil and danger that was faced.
Many innocent people died without choice that day.
Many others died because of a choice they made: To do what needed to be done - though death was possible and even probable - to save the lives of those whom they had never met. And when you consider that, you can come to realize that they did not risk their lives for those particular people there, but for each stranger who could have been there.
"Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one's life for his friends."
That day, those heroes called each of us their friend. |

I just found out that I'm a senior.
A Whoop!
Unfortunately, I'll be 4 hours at A&M short of qualifying for my ring after this semester.
Maybe gold prices will come down by the time I order mine.
And graduation could be December of '010 if I get everything scheduled (and passed) right. Otherwise, hopefully in May (?) of '011
(For clarification, I am not announcing that Missy is expecting a child to be named after me. Or with any other name. To our knowledge.) |
