(I finally got the laptop.)
Jack (Thomas Jackson, we think) got here at 12:37 PM yesterday. He's our heaviest and shortest so far. He was 11 pounds, 3.5 ounces; 21.5 inches long.
He's having the typical big baby low blood sugar issues, but he's stabilizing now and starting to show a little more interest in feeding.
Big brother and sister are doing great.
I'm unhooked from everything and allowed to eat now. No pain - the meds are still in effect. :) The c-section was actually a hoot because all the staff was getting such a kick out of such a big baby (and a big head, etc). The assisting doctor actually thanked me for making his day by delivering a 5000+ gram baby.
Anyway, the party is about to leave for lunch, so I need to get this back to Scott. Hopefully we'll get pictures up in a couple days.
Thank you for the prayers! |

Scott got his special delivery today. So far, so good. He just happened to put in enough extra hours this week that he could be home when I needed to leave for my dr appt so we didn't have to worry about UPS not leaving it today. Would you believe they didn't even require a signature? Scott happened to look on the front porch this afternoon and see that they left the box sitting there without even ringing the bell! At least it got here safely; that's what matters.
No progress on my special delivery. You never know, but there's no indication of things being likely before Tuesday. I'll go in again Monday to sign all the paperwork, etc.
Friday 7/11 is Cow Appreciation Day. That means free Chick-fil-A food. A free meal if you're dressed completely as a cow, a free entree if you're dressed partially as a cow. See their website for more info.

No, not that baby. :)
Scott's getting a MacBook.
We've been saving up for several large electronic purchases we know will be necessities soon - our TV is 9 years old, our desktop 6, and our laptop 3.3. We thought we'd get to the TV early next year, but the laptop has begun to tank recently. It's developed vertical lines on its screen. While still usable, the frequency with which they appear is disturbing. Ends up many Dells had this problem, and Dell finally agreed to replace any that were under 3 years old. Unfortunately, 3.3>3, so we're stuck. We decided to go ahead and get a replacement computer now, and hope the desktop or the laptop hooked up to our monitor will continue strong for a couple more years as our second computer. Scott's been wanting a Mac forever, so he finally gets one now. He's quite excited.
It's due about the same time as the baby. He did say that he'd come to the hospital with me even if the Mac was supposed to be delivered that day, so that's good to know. :)
It could be the sleep deprivation-induced forgetfulness, but I really don't remember being this huge with the other kids. Aside from the constant physical reminder of hauling this gargantuan belly around, I get many other reminders, too. Samantha likes to sit on my lap at church, but has decided her perch on the diminished lap is precarious enough that she now insists I keep my arms wrapped around her while she sits there. Last night at the store, Scott, both kids, and the cart were exiting through the automatic doors and for some reason only one of the double doors opened. I was just a yard or two behind them and suddenly the sensor decided it better open both doors after all! And through it all, the baby keeps insisting that there's not enough room and tries to expand his quarters on his own. The joys of pregnancy. :)
8 more days at the most... |

With our recent Magic Shell purchase, I've discovered some disturbing things about myself. First, I realized that I don't really like chocolate ice cream that much. Scott got Blue Bell's Great Divide bucket, but then realized Magic Shell is much better on vanilla, so the rest of us had to help get rid of the chocolate part. I was shocked to discover that I would skip the ice cream altogether if only chocolate was left.
A couple of weeks ago, someone was talking to me about pink sherbet, which has been on my mind ever since. With my excuse to eat anything rapidly approaching an end, I picked up a tub of raspberry sherbet yesterday. When we had it last night, I couldn't get over how good it was. I realized, sherbet is MUCH better than ice cream!!! I've always like sherbet, but wouldn't buy any just for me. I told Scott I hadn't realized how deprived I've been living with Texas Blue Bell fanatics all these years.
Anyway, it's been a little disconcerting discovering that not only do I not like chocolate ice cream, but I don't even like vanilla that much. Maybe it's just the pregnancy hormones messing with me...
In baby news, I'm officially full-term today! I packed a minimal bag today, just in case. By next week I'll probably be half-packed. I'm actually dilated about a fingertip's worth. It figures the one kid I'm not allowed to attempt labor with would show signs of getting ready. :) (This is the first time I've started doing that - about 3 hours after my water broke with Samantha I was almost a 1. Almost a 3 20 hours and a bunch of pitocin later.) I've known a lot of people to spend weeks a lot more dilated than that, so I'm still planning on 7/15.
Time to attempt to get the kids to nap at Grandma Todie's house...always an adventure!
P.S. Scott would like it known that Patrick was the one who "ripped one" during the devo Sunday night, not him. He's afraid you in particular were close enough to be overcome by the smell. Our apologies for the distraction and odor! :) |
