My Little Big Boy 09-03-08 10:01pm EST
I didn't mention in my last post, Nathan turned 6 Sunday. It is so hard to believe my little man is growing so fast. We'll have his birthday party on the 13th since he had his campout this weekend and this week Neal doesn't get paid so we will have a little bit of money to buy him a present if we wait until then instead of this coming weekend. I have someone who scheduled a photo session this weekend so that worked out great since it is maternity and her husband will be out of town next weekend (military) and she is 32 weeks along lol!
This will be my first maternity session since I've been out on my own so I am nervous about getting it right even though I know I can, I just get so frustrated sometimes when I have a vision of what I want to do but can't get it right. I think I will be fine though. Wish me luck!
trumanSo you are going to shoot a woman who is 32 weeks pregnant? You SAVAGE!
christinaLOL
poppins_momSmart alec.
trumanNot only will she shoot pregnant women, if you read her last post she's gonna shoot a bunch of little boys! ;-P
queenbeetleGood luck on the shoot, I'm sure you will be great!
poppins_momI put some photos from the maternity shoot on my Remembered Images pleo!!

Very cool 09-02-08 12:41am EST
As you probably know, Nathan is in Cub Scouts and just absolutely loves it. Well at various events, I take pictures (of course) and have not only gotten pictures of Nathan but other kids as well at the Day Camp and then again this past Friday when they had their Camp Out/Moving Up ceremony.
Each time I did this, I posted them in an online gallery and gave the other leaders and some parents the website so they can pictures or something but everyone volunteers their time and skills to the Boy Scouts so I figure this is something I can do)
Neal joked around Friday that I was kind of the self appointed photographer. Well today I got an email from one of the other leaders who is also in charge of committee stuff and a lot of the even planning and he wanted to make it official if it was ok with me. He said they would pay any expense within reason like batteries etc if I would photograph their events.
The only expensive I have in photographing the events is double A batteries for my flash every now and then and CDs if anyone wanted photographs burned to CD.
Well he is going to give me a flash drive to save the photographs to so he can use them in slideshows at the end of the month pack meetings and for recruiting!!
I don't mind doing this for free at all considering I am hoping people will ask who did the pictures and that is an easy way to get my name out there and get business from people seeing my work and hopefully want me to do family pictures for them!!
I will have to have some business cards made to give people when they ask. I am really excited about this since I have a blast doing it anyway.
I didn't really set out to be an event photographer but I know this will give me a start and give people someone to go to when they want portraits done. I already have two people wanting me to do their family pictures for Christmas and another wanting me to do maternity pictures here in a few weeks from other sources and now this. I have been skeptical as to whether or not this photography thing would work out but things are starting to look up!
sar_bearThat's so awesome! Even if nothing comes of it, you'll have fun taking the pictures and Nathan can be proud of his mom. :)
poppins_momYeah. The only thing is I will miss out on some moments with Nathan while I am moving around taking photographs of the others. This is really only at the big events like Day Camp and Scoutorama where everyone is spread out and I will have to walk around a lot to get everyone but that's ok, I will definitely make sure to get shots of him in the mix too and it will be lots of fun.
jestersncourtGo with rechargeable batteries! More expensive (but you won't be paying!), but less expensive in the long run.
jestersncourtI don't know about your camera, but my SB800 takes 4-AA's, my grip takes 8-AA's. REALLY expensive but it beats having to replace them every wedding or event.
queenbeetleThat's totally cool. Great news!

Ok I guess I'll update 08-25-08 02:36pm EST
Been a while so I thought I would update. It is so hard to believe my little man has started first grade. He is doing really well and already has a little girlfriend. He is one of those rare kids that love school. Hopefully he will stay that way. He is too smart for his own good too and he said one of the little girls in his class told him he was a genius lol.
The first day, Madison kept saying all day, "lets go see what Nay-nee (what she calls Nathan) doin" I kept having to tell her he wasn't home that he was at school. She kept yelling for him, "Nay-nee, where are you?" The second day, she put her little backpack on and wanted to go with him. She misses him during the day and waits for him to get off the bus and gets so excited. They grow too fast.

Madison informed me the other day she wants to be called "Maddy Grace" If you ask her her name, she will tell you "Madison Grace" and we call her Maddy, Madison, or Gracie. The other day when I called her Maddy, she said "I Maddy Grace" I said can I call you Maddy?" "No" "How about Gracie?" "No" "Well what do you want us to call you, what do you want your name to be?" "Maddy Grace".....Ok
The other day she came downstairs and was twirling around and said "I Princess Maddy Grace" The day before that she was a mermaid, go figure! She has become so girly. She loves dressing up in her princess dress up clothes and she is always dancing and singing and oh man drumming! She is into being a drummer. She will use anything for sticks and a drum. The other day, I finally bought her a little drum at a consignment sale for $1 and she loves it. She will drum and close her eyes and start singing moving her head around. She is so goofy. She is reallllly into Hannah Montana right now and sings it all the time.
Neal went back to work last night. He has been off work for 2 months because he hurt his back pretty bad. It still isn't 100% better but he had to go back because short term disability ended and we have bills lol. I know he is tired after not being use to working 3rd shift for 2 months. Madison wouldn't sleep last night, she kept thinking he was downstairs and would say "I gonna go see Daddy-O (that's what she likes to call him) I told her he wasn't here and was at work. She started crying and said "Uh see Daddy-O" "I need Daddy-O" She was up all night and fell asleep when he got home at 7 this morning.

In other great news, I went to my parents house last night to get some clothes they got Madison and when I was buckling Maddy into the car and laid my phone on the roof of the car for some stupid reason since I have never done that before. Well needless to say I drove off with it up there, got all the way down the road before it fell off when I turned a corner. I got further down the road before I realized what I did but by the time I came back, it had already been ran over. Sooooo now I have no phone. I have insurance but don't want to (and can't afford) the $50 to file the insurance claim so I am looking on ebay for cheap phones since our contract is up in November anyway and I can get a new phone then and since we are thinking of switching carriers, there's really no reason to pay that much for a phone to use for just a couple of months.

So anyway, that's my update. Oh and I have 3 people wanting me to do their pictures, one maternity, one family, and one family Christmas pictures, the maternity one will be scheduling anytime and the others when family come in so I am excited about all that. My cousin does this big consignment sale twice a year in spring and fall and I helped out at it setting up Thursday and working it on Saturday. Well she let me put some of my business cards out and half of them were grabbed up so maybe I will get some business out of that too. (My calls are being forwarded to Neal's phone so at least I won't miss any potential business lol)

So anyway I finally updated. I will try not to make it almost another month until I do it again!
queenbeetleHey, Good to hear from you! I hope Jimmy likes school as much as Nathan does when he starts. I think Madison calling Neal Daddy-O is too cute. I hope Neal doesn't hurt his back again at work. Good Luck with the photo shoots. Love you!
