Our latest news 11-13-08 04:02pm CET
Now that we have arrived to the States and have told (in person) the "appropriate" people, I can share our news with the blog world. We are expecting our second child in April. Yeah! T hasn't quite figured out the idea of being a big brother, but I think he'll get another taste of it when his cousin (8 months old) arrives next week. It will be interesting to see if/how he shares "his" toys.

So far, things are going fairly well with my pregnancy. Morning sickness is pretty much gone (YEAH!), and R is around to lift heavy things when needed. T is slowly getting used to the idea that Mommy can't/won't carry him everywhere.

Unfortunately, we made the "mistake" of getting some genetic testing done. We now know that there is a potential problem with our baby. (As if we theoretically didn't know that before.)When we arrive back in Prague, we will have more testing done (non-invasive to the baby) and hopefully be able to put this behind us. The baby is probably fine, but now that we've started down the testing road, we'll try to see it through.

On a frivilous side, I already look 6 months pregnant, and I'm only 4 months along. (Not a good sign!) While in the States, I make it a point to eat whatever I want, so we'll see what the scale says next month! I think it's mostly a sign of shot muscles, but no doubt my ice cream diet will catch up with me at some point. :)
julied93I'm absolutely THRILLED for you Tami!!! I hope everything continues to go well with the pregnancy.
amyjane72many prayers that your pregnancy will go well! congratulations!
sdbaxleyGREAT NEWS, TAMI! Congratulations to both you and Robert.
laurar209Cognratulations!!! I'm so happy for the three of you!
ginnyannWonderful news...Hugh and I send our congratulations!! We will pray that all goes well with your pregnancy...How exciting...I guess your Mom and Dad were extremely happy! BTW, how is your Dad doing?
mjcbGreat news! Congratulations! Keep us posting on all the testing, but we all know Who is in control and is creating that baby perfectly!
ceoltoirThe second pregnancy always seems to take more out of you...or..uh..leaves more with you. =)
sarahsmileI KNEW IT!!! I told Lee when we were there that I thought you were pregnant! It was the afternoon naps..and the glow. ;-) Congratulations!!!!!!!! I wanted to ask you but I thought I'd better not. No one likes to be accused of being pregnant when they're not.
dbalentineWhat she said. Congrats.
staciCongrats!!! I really wish I could get up there to see you guys, especially since I haven't met Max yet! I'm still working on it...
mr_and_mrs_berryMany many smiles for all of you! don't sweat those tests - many false positives and God is much better at watching your baby grow. :)
kymomto3yeah!! how far apart will the two be? i hope that all is indeed well with #2. keep us posted!!
mmmcoffeeYay!! so excited for you and please try not to worry, all will be fine. We are so excited for you and for Thomas! no person should go through life without saying 'he's touching me!'
mreid72Congratulations!
rodnlara420Yeah for you and your family!!! I am so happy for you !! It's so much more friendly with two !!!

Safely in FL 11-03-08 04:11pm CET
We have arrived to the Sunshine State in-tact, so we are very thankful. Sorry I haven't responded to some of you, but I've been without a computer. As for that, I'll be checking my blog and email only occasionally for the next month or so. If you need me urgently, call my parents. They'll know where I am.

We are doing well and are greatly enjoying the sunshine. We left Prague with gloomy cold weather, and we are now soaking up the rays! T is enjoying all the attention from his grandparents. He is also having a ball with all the animals on the "mini-farm." I'll try to post some pictures eventually, but with dial-up internet, it may have to wait until we're back home.

Hope your November is going well. Have a great Turkey Day!
sarahsmileI totally had a dream about you last week! I forget the details now, but it was a cool dream!
julied93Are you in th US for the whole month?
ginnyannSo glad yo'all had a safe trip and are having fun already at the grandparents house...Thomas will really be spoiled by the time you leave. I was happy to hear from your Mom that your Dad is doing well. I am sure that the visits from his children and grandchildren will help tremendously. Will look forward to seeing pics....hugs!!!
rodnlara420hey girl! Glad y'all are safe and sound call me when you get the chance!!! Love ya!!
coriThey were written--essay questions, ugh. My orals are next semester, sometime in April. I keep trying to save for a trip over there, but I keep having to pay bills and such. :) Maybe there will be a conference in Prague soon! Tell your parents I said hello!
sarahsmileIf I get married, I don't think I'll have more than one bridesmaid (if any) and she can choose her own dress. Although I think it'd be cool to just have like 30 children walking down throwing petals singing a hymn instead of bridesmaids and groomsmen.

Sunshine 10-08-08 02:23pm CET
I love sunshine and warm weather. We've been having cold, overcast days lately, but today it is probably in the high 70's and bright and sunny. I love it! T and I just returned from the sandbox, where we got covered in sand. It was great. Sunshine, sand, no jacked required - what more could you ask for?! To top it off, I just had some nuked cheese "toast" with cheddar brought by our last American visitor. Yes, today is a good day.

In other good news, I started packing today for our USA trip. Nothing we'll actually *need*, mind you, but stuff I want to carry, nonetheless. The other suitcases still need a little airing, so they're out on the balcony.

And speaking of the balcony, the tomato plants are officially gone. We still had a few tomatoes on the vines, but our weather has become tomato unfriendly. It's strange to put the gardening "trash" in a bag, versus the compost pile. Such is life in the city. At least we have a nice balcony! :)

We're having fun company this weekend. It's their first trip to Prague, I believe, though they currently reside in Budapest. It will be interesting to see T interacting with a baby all weekend.

Hope your day is going well, too!
queenofcleanWere you not going to tell me you are going to be right down the road from me? I'm only two hours away from there. I'm taking this personally.
rodnlaraLet me know when you hit state side! I would love to see you and little Thomas!!! I will email you my phone number!!!
ekhollHmm...I think she might be talking about 2 hrs from your sis...maybe?
ginnyannIs this company from Budapest someone I might know? THey will love Prague....I did!
ginnyannDon't know them, is he the current preacher in Budapest?
dbalentineThat was a good quote on her blog. The Scarlet Pimpernel?
sarahsmileHave fun with the Tosti clan!
sarahsmileWhen do you arrive in the US?
sarahsmileWell, on this diet it's common to loose this amount per day. You eat just lean meat and green veggies and nuts for 2 weeks..most people loose 1lb per day the first week then it tapers off. Believe me...I'm not starving myself. I'm still trying to get my 1800 calories per day that I need.
sarahsmileIt's the south beach diet- lower fat the adkins, but lower bad carbs than weight watchers
queenofcleanI am two give or take from Auntie C. We're going to our best to get there.
ceoltoirThe Travel Channel had a show about Prague this morning. It made me think of you and wish we could come visit you. It looks like a lovely place.
tstoryCheck out MA's site.
ashleeSister Tam! When will you be in the states and which state will you be in??

Hello 10-07-08 01:54pm CET
I'm tired of the previous post, but I have nothing to say today. Well, not exactly true, but nothing you would probably care to hear.

Hope all are having a good day! :)
sarahsmileHey I was thinking about you last night and if you needed me to take you. When do you get into Atlanta?
ceoltoirNothing we would care to hear? That doesn't stop anyone else! ;-)
mr_and_mrs_berryIt is crisp and cool and fall-like here - enjoy an outside day over there if it is nice. Thomas needs some crunch leaves!
coriI'm looking forward to seeing you two when you get here! When exactly will you be in town?
queenofcleanYou can always discuss me. I won't mind.
julied93I hope to see you when MA has the babies.
ginnyannIt's always good to hear what you are doing, especially in a foreign country with a baby! I am sure he keeps you hopping and busy.

I've been tagged 09-18-08 03:55pm CET
I've never heard of this before, but I'll play along . . .

What is "tagging" about? Post eight random facts/habits about yourself. Choose eight others to "tag", and include the guidelines in your post. Let your "taggees" know that they've been tagged! Enjoy learning more about your cyber-sisters/brothers. :-)

1. I collect elephants. I have no idea why I chose this animal, but I was quite young when I did so. I have no idea how many elephants I have - in jewelry, dust collectors, etc. Most of them are stored somewhere in the States.

2. I hate things being even close to my neck. No choker necklaces (The name says enough!), no scarves, no hair-dresser-cape, etc. All my round-neck T-shirts have stretched neckbands because I can't stand for them to touch my neck. If I believed in reincarnation, I'd say I was hung in a former life.

3. Toilet paper should roll over the top. We have solved this question in our home by having free-standing toilet paper holders. Over the top or under the bottom - your choice - just turn the holder around to your favorite position! :)

4. My favorite color is pink. I used to favor a soft baby pink, but now I prefer a dusty rose or bold fuschia. I like pink on most everything except cars and houses.

5. I love chocolate - dark especially. I don't like fruit in it, though. A yearly chocolate covered cherry is acceptable, but otherwise, keep the two separate!

6. I have become quite the tomato farmer. Our four potted plants have produced WAY more tomatoes than we could ever eat!

7. I love office/school supplies. I could look at and organize paper, pens, and stickers all day. Maybe that is why scrapbooking appeals to me. :)

8. My favorite season is Summer. When living in the South, it was Spring. Since Spring here in Prague is more like Winter to me (still requiring a coat, for crying out loud!), I have changed to Summer. And now it is over for the year . . . so sad!

Well, now that you all know I have serious issues, I shall go and tag some of you. Any volunteers?

sweetpeasInteresting random facts....
coriI remember learning the elephant thing when I was little, and that's how I'd describe you to people--my cousin Tami who played with me and liked elephants. :) I'll accept the tag, too! Also, I hear you will be in N. Alabama the same weekend as I will--would you like a ride down south?
sarahsmileI know, I laugh about it everytime I talk about Prague
sarahsmileI'll be in NYC all next week...is there anyone there that I'd know?
julied93I knew about the first fact- it MUST be because you have a secret love for the Crimson Tide.;-)
julied93NOT!!
mmmcoffeeok, I'll do it. sigh.
ashleei have fulfilled my tagging duties=] Thomas is getting so big!!! How cute is he? is he talking yet? in how many langs??
mamaladySounds fun: ) I may do a post about our NYC trip the 4H club went on this week before I fulfill it, but will do. I think it will be fun: )
queenofcleanWhat about the bread crumbs in the butter dish? And what about not letting anyone try on your shoes? And what about the detailed adgenda you always have? And??????
julied93^ Sheesh! ;-)
I am constantly looking on the internet for homemade recipes. Bakind soda is GREAT for just about everything as well as white vinegar. Right now I make my own laundry/dishwaher detergent. It's WAY cheaper, plus I'm trying to cut out as much extra chemicals that I don't about or what their purpose is. Join the green & homemade groups- they have been helpful, too!
julied93Mine is washing soda, Borax, & any bar soap (grated fine). I don't htink I've heard of soap nuts. Interesting....
julied93*think*
firestahI just sent the picture.
sweetpeasno wonder you and Mary Ann get a long so well. ;) I think the earliest we have had a name is about a week before delivery. We now have 10 days to go.
sarahsmileHey, I emailed you and Lee and hopefully he can send it to you...I left my laptop at home for the week.
ginnyannI now have some blood on the bottom of my upholstered sofa from our dogey woggey! He had surgery on the 15th and had a tumor removed off his side. Well, the staples have all come out and now the wound is open and yucky! He laid down by the sofa and some of the "stuff" came off on it. I am going to try some vinegar and water to see if that takes it off before I try any of that store bought stuff. I thought you were a War EAgle!!!
ginnyannWhew! that's good news...I was worried.
ginnyannHow is your Dad doing? Please tell Robert hello from Me and Hugh. How is his work going? When is it that yo'all are coming to the states? I forgot!
laurar209HA! to #2 -- you should ask april about the same problem!
aprilstarrMmm, no, I have a different problem... I wear chokers and scarves all the time. My problem is that I HAVE to have something covering my neck when I am scared or feel vulnerable. For instance in a scary movie. I have to cover my neck with my hands. The only hting I don't like touching my neck is people attacking my neck! Which, yes, people do/did just because it scared me! Pretending to slice my throat with their fingers,e tc. Aaaah! I call it my "open neck feeling" - have to cover my neck because I'm afraid its going to get slashed. Yep, I'm weird
aprilstarrMy husband is just like you on chocolate .. dark and no fruit! I'm the opposite- milk chocolate for me, and I love it with fruit! :)
queenofcleanThere's not a thing wrong with 40. You'll love it. As for the 40 changes...change is good.
ekhollI'm actually going to a tech school for sonography (i.e. Ultrasounds)
mamaladyI did my list: ) Cute pic of Thomas above: )
