Well, we had a great Thanksgiving and I spent some of my time in the Liberty area with my sister. She works full time for a Home Health agency but about a year ago she bought a candle business and does school fund-raisers, has booths set up at different festivals/fairs, ect. She had some orders from one of the fund raisers and asked if I wanted to learn how to make candles and car scents and help her fill the orders? I'm thinking, Sure! This will be FUN!! She killed ME!! We had what she said was a small order--378 candles and 176 car scents! And 37 different aromas - such as 23 vanillas, 42 blueberries, 39 spiced pumpkins, ect. Well, I learned that this is not an easy job! You have to weigh, count, measure, bake, melt, and the list goes on and on!
Before I left, we had over 300 of the candles made, labeled, and boxed, along with all the scents made and packaged to look professional. This took alot of back-breaking work!!!
We had a few mess-ups that she let me bring home with me, but with all that went into this job, I'll never take for granted all the work she does and ask for a free candle anymore.
The bad side of all this is I can't believe she still has good lungs to breath with!!! Doing the candles was fine but when she started all the ovens for the car scents, my chest and lungs started burning from the strong aromas!!! I am now home suffering with chest congestions!!! I still can't get the different scents out of my nose!!!! My kids could still smell the aroma on me even after I showered!! Crazy, huh?
Hope everyone had a good weekend!!
What an unusual way to spend Thanksgiving! I can hardly walk by the candle section without getting a bad headache; I can't imagine what you're dealing with tonight!
Well, our heating problem was due to a little mouse in the attic that chewed on the wires! OK, we live in a subdivision in the middle of College Station, not in or near a field where there are usually field mice, so where did the little critter come from? Maybe I'm a little slow but I really didn't know you could have mice in town!!! Don't laugh!!! I'm serious!!!!
We're going to set some traps in the attic today!!!
Glad you got it fixed. We bought a thing called Riddex that plugs in the outlets (we have two). It sends electrical something-or-others throughout the house to keep critters away. We did this after one gnawled through insulation allowing an air conditioner pipe to leak and ruin a spot in the sealing. Gene found it on the internet. I guess it's working!
haha niiiice! that doesnt beat 2 racoons chewing on the wires at work and knocking out power to half of the campus which shut down activities for nearly a week. ahahaha
Keith and had just pulled into the parking lot of the outlet stores here in SS and saw a full grown skunk trying to peek inside the glass entry door. Needless to say, I insisted we enter through another set of doors a few yards down! Yes, there are all kinds of critters in town.
Well, for some reason our central heating is not working. It is 41 degrees outside and pretty chilly in here. I was surprised to wake up to a cold house this morning! Thankfully we have a fireplace to at least keep the livingroom warm. We've had to move poor little Nathan in here. Better go call someone to come out to look at it!!!
We haven't turned our heater on yet!!! I can't believe myself. First cold snap and my heater is ON! This year, we are going to try to use space heaters more. I have two heavy blankets on my bed to keep me warm. So far, so good. We will see how long it last...
Well, the surgery went great! Nathan is sleeping and will be most of the day. He was such a big boy about all this. We arrived at the surgery center at 6:15 and they didn't take him back until 8:30! The surgery only took about 35 minutes!!! We were shocked when it was over so soon. We were led to believe that it would take 3 or 4 hours. I guess that meant from the time we arrived until the time we left. He has only thrown up once and is sipping on clear liquids. Tomorrow he can have ice cream! Thanks for all your prayers!!!!!!!
Glad to hear your good news! Hope he feels like a new little boy when it is all done. If I remember right, about the 3rd day is pretty rough. So get all the liquid in that you can before the pain begins!
