Really. I am mostly posting because I am getting tired of reading about how my "mouth got colors like a fruit loop box" and such whenever I go to my page. So yes, this is actually ME posting, not one of my daughters hacking my page.
While I'm here I'll do a little update. We are pretty much finished shutting down our business, although I use the term "we" very loosely. My amazing husband has done most of the work - and I do mean work. He took down I-don't-know-how-many cubicles and stacked them and their built-in desk/storage components pretty much single-handedly. Everything's gone now, which is really sad, but it feels kind of good to be able to move on. So for the last few days he has been job hunting! Great time to be doing that, but it is what it is. If anyone knows of any people-management jobs, in or out of the tech sector, let us know! And please, always, always, always, prayers are needed and appreciated!
If you are wondering why I was not there to help with the cubicle dismantling and other tasks, it's because I was at home - working! I have re-entered the world of medical transcription, which I love. Don't ask me why, but I do. I applied for many, many other jobs, mostly in the medical field like medical records, floor secretary, etc., with no success. Then I talked to a recruiter for an MT company, she convinced me that with the keyboard shortcuts and word expanders built into their software, my carpal tunnel syndrome would probably not be a factor, as I would probably only be actually typing 30% of the words. Sign me up! I'm giving it a try, anyway. And so far, so good. I really believe it is the best home-based job in the world - for me anyway! Especially now that it is all internet based. No more picking up tapes and delivering printed reports! Mythreegirls would've appreciated that when they were growing up and making deliveries with Mommy! But we were all blessed that I could work at home when they were little...
And I would be completely remiss if I did not mention our newly-empty nest. It's very quiet around here, but I think we are adjusting. He has a harder time most of the time. I keep telling him that we did not have children for them to stay children forever. We had them so they could grow up and become responsible Christian women, serving the Lord and contributing positively to society. That's what I SAY. Inside I add "but do they all have to go so far away to do that?" :) But what overshadows any sadness is the fact that we are very proud of them and the young women they have become. We have been very blessed...
So there you have it. My quarterly post. I will close with a verse we saw posted on the side of a church building that we drove past recently. It just said 1 Samuel 7:12, and of course I had to immediately look it up. Oddly, or not so oddly, the timing was perfect for us, as we were contemplating our future.
"Then Samuel took a stone and set it up between Mizpah and Shen and called its name Ebenezer, saying, 'THUS FAR, THE LORD HAS HELPED US." Doesn't that just say it all?
***UPDATE***
As has already been posted on her blog, my amazing husband has a job! This job will likely involve a lot of travel, but we are okay with that, especially since my job is portable so I will be able to travel with him sometimes. And it would be okay with us anyway, because once again, the Lord has provided...
Wow, I can't believe it's actually you! And how funny is it that I was actually telling amy about the time you were making a delivery and I stuck my finger on the cigarette lighter. Oh boy. Anyways, I love YOU and I'm more proud of you than you are of me! :) Love you mama! Please make a road trip up with Daddy soon!
^Amen! You're in my prayers. Your daughter in Dallas seems to be doing fine. Although you miss her, she's been trained well and is a wonderful example to everyone she meets. Thanks for the wonderful verse-I agree with Gary-chills and all.
Hi, I know Amy from church, and you really have a lot to be proud of/thankful for. I hope both of you enjoy your jobs and can settle down happily after the long crisis period. I also found that my husband had more difficulty with empty nest than I did...sad, really, for Daddies to see the little ones go out on their own. Moms are just more grateful for less laundry:>)
Hi Debbie. So good to hear from you and yours. We are "fat and sassy" in Federal Way where Paul in preaching and one of the elders. Hope you will be in our area in your travels. We would LOVE to see you - our phone is 661-2530. I promise I will not bring my grandma's brag book unless you ask me to!
You know, I'm not surprised to hear that about hummingbirds. We have two that live in our tree and one is viscious and attacks the other one when he comes near the feeder. I can actually hear the collision they make.
That is awesome!! I am happy for y'all! It was so nice to actually meet you tonight. I'm glad you noticed me!! LOL I've been meaning to write, but frankly I am horrible about that unless it's on here or something. Plus I haven't posted in awhile. I let the internet take over too much, so I am working on that now. But feel free to email me and let's keep in touch! Talk to you soon LORD willing.
well... the shoes belong to my roommate (and he does like to drag our shoes around) and your puppy isn't really size-compatable with our tiny little apartment. ;)
Now before you get too excited, you should know this is Chelsea, my mom's favorite daughter. I was getting a little fed up with my mother's lack-of-posting... so I decided to hack into her pleo and do it for her.
And yes. I will get the brutal punishment for this later. ;).
My mommy has been doing pretty good. :) Work has been pretty stressful and we could all use your prayers on that one. She just turned (confidential number) and I keep assuring her that she's old. She loves it. :) Her and my daddy's anniversary was about a month ago. It was adorable. They've now been married longer than they've been single- how cute is that... Mrs. Aldridge.
Bears. Beets. Battlestar Galactica.
My Grandma is here for the weekend. That's exciting. Her mean boss even managed to give her this Friday off- crazy. I wonder how she pulled that off.
Church is fabulous. We're looking at a new space to meet in, so that's always exciting.
Megan is an idiot.
Chelsea is victorious.
Spicy Amy Roll.
Hmm. She recently got a haircut. She didn't like it at first. But I suppose she does now? Dad liked it. So. What else REALLY matters. Exactly.
Although, on a bad note, my Mother is becoming a SCHOLARSHIP NAZI. Everyday it's, "How are your scholarships coming along, Chelsea?" It's great. But I know I should be working on them and that I should be thankful to have such a great Marmee. :)
Megan smells bad.
My mom got a GF grill for her birthday from Amy & David. Which was awesome. Because I got my mom a card... with a grill ON it. But not a George grill. A MOUTH grill. It even said "Happy Birthday". It was pretty much the best card ever. Then it was filled with lyrics from the Nelly song, "Grillz". She giggled a lot. She liked it me thinks.
Hmm. What else, what else. I think that may be it for now? Plus I can hear her talking... which is not a good sign. Her catching me in the act of breaking into her pleonast would probably not be a good thing. So I guess I shall sign off now. *Sigh*.
But do you know what the best part is?
She'll never know how I broke in.
Um, yes. Cotton balls were EVERYWHERE. I think each person that brought me something bought their own package of 250 cotton balls and used every single one. It was Jamie's idea. I'll have to get him back later...
thanks for your encouragement to Gary. Thanks for letting him stay! We have made it a rule in our house to not let girls stay here because we raised 3 boys, it was a rule to keep temptation at bay. I totally trust Gary and Gary picks good friends now, which hasnt always been the case. Anyway, thanks again.
Well, I'm glad someone knows what "farm radio" is! I was afraid we were the only people who ever listened to it! But that's about all you get when you're out there!
Well, I'm glad that its Sunday night. At least that's a little better! My cousins graduate Friday morning at 9:00 am. Crazy! Just a couple of years ago the two schools were together it seems like. I know you're proud of your girls. Tell Megan to hang in there. I've heard nursing school is tough!
That is too funny! How sweet is that...yeah I pretty much felt sick. I could tell Josh was mad but what are ya gonna do. LOL Janis always comments like that to me. Isn't the bond of sisterhood priceless!! Ha Ha
Haha, it's very true, you have no room to talk and I do need to update. :) I just still haven't figured out how to put the amazingness of Peru into words, or how to upload pictures to pleonast... so there is my problem. Hopefully soon since I start nursing school on Tuesday........... AHHHHHHHH!
Why oh WHY do I put this off? I actually LOVE writing! But I hate coming up with something to write about! I even hated creative writing in school. It is just so hard for me to get started! So I keep putting it off, instead commenting on other people's blogs. And reading the comments people leave on mine. But I gotta tell ya, I'm kind of proud of only having four posts, but 117 comments! That is not an easy thing to accomplish! It requires leaving comments on many, many blogs...
The weird part is that I get ideas all the time - I'll go "Oh! I should write about that on Pleo!" and then whenever I get a chance to do it, my mind is a complete blank. Blech! Sigh... but now that he is posting and making me look bad, I've got to step it up! So, if all of you naggers want to give me some suggestions for blogworthy topics, I'll try to do better about complying.
I'm much better at editing. Taking a phrase, a sentence, a paragraph and making it better. Simplifying a complicated, confusing passage and making it more readable and easier to understand. Maybe that's another reason I put off this blogging thing. It takes me forever! Because I sit here and analyze the thing, taking out this sentence and moving it over here. Changing that word. Changing to all caps for emphasis. Deleting the whole thing and starting over. Ack! And then realizing that once I get started, I don't know how to stop! Much like my talking, some would say. ;)
Anyway, this will have to do for now. I do hope it counts as "a post" so as to quiet those who have been clamoring for me to do just that. And you know who you are.
Hey, I don't know who you are or anyone that has you as a friend, but I saw your name on the online list and I just had to come and say that I *love* your screen name!
i tried really hard to put a big cool happy birthday up here at 6 this morning...but for some reason it didn't work. so here i am now, just saying happy birthday...while it is still your birthday.

and no, she likes "mama" better (megan)
marmee is the greatest because she edited my boring paper on the us gov budget 4 times. thats a real mom right there. :] (i probably would have shot myself in the foot...) YAY! I love you mom!! :]
MAMA is the greatest mama in the world because she always makes me hot tea in the hersheys kisses mug when i'm sick. :)
this is all for the first entry of the piratebloggers. hope everyone enjoyed...
Hi Debbie, so good to here from you! No, I still don't have this blogging thing down and I'm not really sure I can or want to get into it. I really enjoy it and could sit here for hours reading!! It's kinda of like a soap opera…addictive!! Hey I really would like to see you and visit in person!! Lets do lunch sometime after the girls are in school! I've got to see your girls a few times lately. Hard to believe they are all grown up and so beautiful!
Well I have had a wonderful weekend! It started off with my oldest daughter graduating from college. I'm not sure how many know that Amy is a first-generation college graduate for our family. Randy did not graduate college and although I've logged enough vocational school hours (court reporting, medical assisting, and medical transcription schools) that I could've probably had a degree (lol) alas, I don't have one. Neither do our parents. So our kids going to college was a big deal to us! We are so proud of Amy and it was a great early Mother's Day gift to see her graduate!
We also are thrilled to have Megan home from Lubbock, the garden spot of Texas! Make that the FLAT garden spot of Texas... Oh--make that the rainy, wet, flat, and FLOODED garden spot of Texas! We loaded her stuff in the van during a torrential downpour that did not let up much all day. Then we drove home in what was probably the worst weather we've ever driven in. Well, maybe except for the rain we drove through once in Virginia that we found out later was the outer edge of a tornado... Anyway, we made it home safely, (thank you again, Lord) and we're getting into a nice little routine, listening to the two girls pick on one another constantly. And then when they get around Amy, it's even better! Ah... the sounds of family! We've missed it! It's so QUIET with only one kid around...
Only a few more days and Chelsea will be a senior! She has a busy summer planned, what with her job, working a little at our business, AND taking classes at ACC! As some of you know, her Junior year has been a bit stressful for her, but she's worked through things nicely, with a little help from her friends, her Daddy, and especially the Lord! Thank you so much for the outpouring of support she got from people here on Pleonast. It meant so much to her and to us!
Oh yeah... my wonderful weekend continued today, of course, with Mother's Day. My girls are so good to me! :)
I'm such a mom. The only thing I can think to "blog" about is my kids. I'll work on that. Oh- here's something that's not about MY kids. I got to see/hold baby Gus at Amy's graduation party! He is so sweet and so tiny! Gus is the baby of Amy and David's friends, Christie and Griffin. He's been through a lot in his short two months of life, but he is one tough little guy! And so cute in his little boy clothes! I love little-boy clothes. But I'm not gonna say the "G" word. Ha!
Whoever is still reading this... have a blessed week!
awe. well that's cute. you better believe i got that HUGE smile when i read, "Only a few more days and Chelsea (chelstee) will be a senior" 7 days, to be exact. i'm glad you had a good mommy's day. I LOVE YOU!. :]
weird, in our family heather (as the last one) gets to do everything sooner than the other 3...am I backwards??? Anyway, I had a very great time at the party and at the graduation. I especially enjoyed meeting Rachel. She is very sweet. I realized I need to make a special "niece/Aunt Carol" day trip. You know who constantly impresses me? Megan. Really. They are all incredible, but for some reason she just says stuff that makes me smile and I always go, "well huh."
I love your screen name! I saw it on the Scrapbooking group and had to come tell you. I am addicted to scrapbooking and infact just bought a ton of stuff at Hobby Lobby and my local scrapbook store this morning. Good to "meet" you...my name is Traci and I'm from SE Texas. We worship at a small congregation here.
Hello! You're Carol's sister?? And I see you know some San Marcos people. My son and his wife worship there (Jacob and Ellen Walker); and I see you held Gus! We've not met him yet; we worship with his Grandparents. Small world!
Where do you live? Are you far from Columbus? I'll be there this Saturday and we begin at 9 am. My lessons are based on the 7 Laws of Teaching and I give principles of why we should be doing certain things when teaching our children in Bible Class. I have 3 hours of lessons and then we work together in the last hour.
Debbie, I have been to the class Aleta teaches and it is wonderful! She says she has even made it better since I went. If you get the chance you should go.
Hey! I saw you from the scrapbooking group. I heard you were a CTMH consultant, and I'm curious as to how much it costs to be one.. I love scrapbooking and know alot of ppl who love it to, so I think I could sell alot of supplies. :) My name is brandy btw ;)
Awesome!! I'll do that :D And I saw POC3 lastnight as well..I didnt get home till late becaue the time of two theaters got mixed up ..hehe..this is my first one seeing in theaters as well. The second one had just recently went out of theaters when I saw Steven, or he'd have taken me to see it... what did you think of the movie? can you see how they could make two more movies? :) Well enough questions for now, i guess. You take care and I would love to get to know you better, I think we both have alot of things in common ;)
Hey girl! I'm going to add you to my group for sure! :D And by the way, I can't figure out how to email through the sight so i emailed you through my yahoo emailer. I dont think my browser is compatable to email thru sites :\ *sigh*
Im VERY interested tho' and if you need my email:
naturalblue84@yahoo.com :)
You seem like an awesome person, I cant wait to get to know you better!
Hi. I saw your name on the recipe exchange group and clicked it just because it sounded like an interesting name (LOL). Anyway, are you from the Round Rock area? We corresponded about a year or so back after something you posted on BOL
