Camp was wonderful. I have brought back a sore throat, but I'm certain it will not damper my excitement over such a great week. I'll blog more about it later when I have more energy. I just could not resist saying, "Hi." I've got pictures to share, too. And, lots of white names to catch up with :)
I taught the teen girls Bible class on Modesty. It was a great group of girls and I really enjoyed the class. Teenagers are wonderful people :)...I had over forty girls in the class! Imagine forty lovely modest girls. What a blessing!
It was wonderful to renew acquaintences from years past, visit with dear friends who we've know for many years now, and meet new friends. I've tried in the past to meet each new family (at least the wife), but with 400 happy homeschooling heads this just will not work. So, I've tried to at least meet a few new folks and build on that year after year.
Josh LOVED camp. He cut a tooth the last night...but other than that he slept from nearly 11-5 or 6 A.M. which he never does at home :)...He loved to dig in the gravel with a little blue shovel (funny story about the coveted shovel later). He loved his big brother's buddies, he LOVED the desserts his Mama was in charge of and he loved the freedom of wandering outside *with me watching, of course*...he napped in his mei-tai every day and met lots of new friends.
We've unpacked and will be picking up the pets tomorrow. This is the first of the month, too. So tomorrow will be dog bathing day and Tuesday will be shopping day. We may need to do some tomorrow, too so we can eat. The dogs are usually exhausted after a week at the kennel and simply climb up on a couch and sleep for hours! First order is baths, though, before they even enter our home :) No, I'm not going to call this OCD...I just like it clean. My kids joke that OCD means obsessive cleaning disorder...I'm okay with that definition :)
It was great to see all my pleo friends at camp! I'm so glad you're on here!! |

One of my sweet pleo friends asked for a photo of me. This is me au natural--not a stitch of make-up--holding Josh this past week. Just had to warn you so you did not ask if I was sick :) And, he is NOT into any hair coloring so I'm glad that I only have a strand or two of gray since I'm not feeling that old yet :)
Below is a picture of the girls and I from four years ago--specifically from my 35th birthday...now I am 39! Yikes, almost 40! They have grown up so much in those four years. Amazing how things change...I'm not sure they've even seen this picture. I found it in the digital albums in my documents :) and just had to share...

This is a more recent photo of Josh and Arwen watching out the window. It was quite rainy that day and they loved to watch it. Notice, if you will, the cute puppies on his hoodie and his little stuffed puppy (who bears the name Jasper). Oh, that chair is handmade and was mine when I was a little girl. I may have mentioned that one before.
Here are two of my three favorite boys. My tall-dark-and-handsome much loved husband and my golden boy. I'd say my oldest boy is a mix, huh?
Here is the daredevil himself. I'm not sure I mentioned in my last blog about him that he is fearless. Makes my heart drop to the floor on and off all day long :) The more we gasp, the more he laughs.
His hair looks like a mop in this one. He had just woken up and was ready to drive away after a potty stop :)...we love his little curls. Believe it or not, I trimmed off about 1/2 inch a few weeks ago. He has quite a lovely little head of golden curls.
Guess what we did this week? We introduced Aragorn to the puppies. If you have been with me and my blog for the past six months you will remember Thor and Freya. Arrival, Rescue, Introduction (quick and easy) to Arwen, and our attempts to find the perfect, failproof way to introduce them to Aragorn. Aragorn is a wonderful dog, but he is unpredictable around strangers (he's never bitten anyone, but he did snap twice at strangers who were afraid of dogs). Hannah and I began by holding each of the male dogs on leashes and walking across the garage. It worked so well, before we knew it, they were play-bowing and chasing each other around. I think we could have done it months ago! But, it worked out fine. Now we have four happy puppies in the house. Lots of fun. Believe it or not, they are rather calm all day...having only a few raucous moments. I'm guessing one of the kids will write about this...so I won't get into too much detail!
They LOVE to play. They hit it off right away! She captured this on camera. Aragorn looks pretty spiffy, if I do say so myself. This is play, by the way...They LOVE to play. We had the big dogs drag leashes 'just in case' for the first day. No aggression at all...just typical doggie 'getting to know you' stuff. Wonderful relief to all of us!
Thor and Freya resting. We love them and they've done GREAT in the house. We are on day three tomorrow. I'll put up some photos soon of the puppies new inside-the-house life. I'm so thankful that they've done well with one another. The puppies are eight months old today! We've had them six months! I'm thankful that our double life is ended. We've taken turns watching movies, playing, and reading in the garage (where we made a nice area for the dogs). The kids and I spent HOURS out there making sure the puppies were well socialized! Whew!
Be sure to see the other pictures of Josh that I put up less than an hour ago (just below this blog). They are from a few months ago, but are precious (if I do say so myself)...I was not sure if I'd have time for my longer one so I did that quick one...then Jonathan uploaded my new pictures and I tried hard to stay awake long enough to get them up here! Now, I can go to bed! Have a great week! |

The first two pictures are from June. I was looking for the newest ones that Jonathan got off of the camera and I found these on my desktop. I must have been busy or distracted--I really should have posted some of these. They were so cute.
The first is a picture of Josh (about three months ago--so just about a year old) sitting in my Great-Grandmother's Rocking chair...made in 1882 and reseated in 1936. It is beautiful--red my favorite color. He loves to rock in it!
The next picture is Josh with Arwen (one of his many dogs :)). He is giving her a kiss. He loves to give the puppies kisses, but when he does not want them to kiss or lick him, he feels perfectly comfortable saying, "No" and pushing them away...rather funny since even the smallest is nearly twice his size. The largest is four times his size!
We lovingly call her, "Winnie"--if you say 'Arwen' out loud, you'll hear the 'win' that caused us to begin to call her "Winnie"...she is a sweet puppy (she turned three in June). 65 pounds of fun and excitement!
