"Never be afraid to trust an unknown future to a known God." Corrie ten Boom

Corrie ten Boom was a Jew that went into hiding during the Holocaust and lived to write a book about it. A very moving book, which I highly recommend.

This quote is rather frightening to think about...

“A government big enough to give you everything you want, is strong enough to take everything you have.”
Thomas Jefferson
kamilleThose are good. I like them.
kamilleGovernments shouldn't GIVE people everything they want; they don't deserve it anyway. People aren't ENTITLED to things; they need to WORK for it.
mommie_dearestWe have more "poor" people today than when we started government programs to "help" them. By doing this, we have enabled them to stay at home, sit on their front porch with their shotguns and sell drugs. All the while having yet more children to get more money. Instead of standing up and learning to take care of themselves and become responsible for what happens in their lives instead of always looking for a handout. URRRRR.. I'm just a little frustrated if you couldn't tell it by the rambling. Sorry.
squeakyI love the T.J. quote.
queenbeetleIt's one of my favorites. I liked your quotes, the bottom one is a little scary. Have a good weekend!
purkyCorrie ten Boom's book is very good. Give me goosebumps to think about what she went thru.
squeakySorry you and Mom were sick tonight and I didn't get to see you. Ross is really sick too. Frani said he looks like he has white hamburger in his throat. Yuk and thats how he feels she said. I have passed on your redistribution story and it's a big hit. Not with Obama people though.
mill2093That seems to be a female thing. It is amazing how often I am uncomfortably warm and there are ladies around that are uncomfortably cold.
I like the idea of not paying for heat until November though. However, when it comes to cooling time of the year, I pay for liking a cool place. I have to compromise and allow it to be warmer than I would prefer. When I was co-oping, I didn't have to pay for AC, so my place was set to 68 in the summer in both Texas and California.
mill2093Somewhat related to government, as I said on my post: "The free market punishes irresponsibility. Government rewards it." -Harry Browne
mill2093I don't know that "interesting" is the word I would use to describe it. Maybe scary. I think that Bush is endorsing it makes it all the more frightening.
The quote of "Any society that would give up a little liberty to gain a little security will deserve neither and lose both." by Ben Franklin seems particularly appropriate.
kamille^I like the one by H. Browne, posted by mill2093.
kamilleAre you having trouble with your cell phone? I think they said there is a lot of trouble with T-mobile right now. You didn't call last night so I didn't know. I didn't get to talk to you Tues. but dad did...3 times. I guess that's ok since it was his b-day.

Nathan Ing Fundraiser 08-14-08 07:39pm CST
Her blog reminded me that Nathan was in her wedding. I dug up this picture. Precious and innocent.

Photobucket

The following was copied from his blog:

Many of you have heard of Nathan Ing and his illness over the past 1 1/2 years. You may also know that the latest report is his brain cancer is back and is terminal.

It is devastating to his parents, sister, and all of us. Please go to the following web page on my site to read more of the situation and how you can truly help.

Go to www.PlainFaith.com/NathanIng.html

Thanks.

msshampooWhat a handsome little guy. We have a pic of him and Jessica at the wedding.
kamilleI will never forget when N. was a baby, after every service you would go get him, carry him around & hold him; or how we babysat him. N. is going to Heaven, he will have his sight back, etc. Loved the pics below of Aunt Alma & Wyatt. A. looks like Mamaw Tarrance.
