So, earlier today while cleaning I wanted to turn on some music to clean to. Went to Windows Media Player and decided that ALL of the songs I've EVER listened to (since a teenager to now) is old and tiring. All Tim has is Dream Theater and that's tiring ...
SO! Seems like I need to get into more music. I just never listen to the radio because I'll be driving, the station goes out and it makes me mad. So, I just never listen to it. I listen to cds... and I need new ones. I DID recently discover Apocalyptica. They play with Cello and no guitars. They're *really* neat. I've only heard 1-3 of their songs, so if you happen to look 'em up and find a really horrible song... don't hurt me! I'm just saying that the songs I've heard them do is really awesome. Esp. "I don't care"... though the video for that is kind of... I don't know. Not the best thing in the world. Reminded me of a couple of the scenes in Moulin Rouge.... anyway!
What do YOU listen to?
My family is coming in this week, so I doubt VERY seriously I'll get to post again until probably sometime next week. So, I hope ya'll have a VERY VERY happy thanksgiving day.

I'm going to attemt at reviewing this... not exactly my strongest point, but... oh well.
Yes, we went to see Twilight at midnight this morning.
No, I'm not *that* big on the book. We thought that it came out the previous night on midnight. Guess it didn't. We were bored... so we went. It also reminded me of why it's fun going to midnight showings. seriously ALL of the nerds come out of their caves and snicker at all of the jokes and little subtle things that a person would 'get' only if they had read the book. (Don't take offense if you're one of these people. I am a huge nerd when it comes to HP, LOTR, and even SW) Not to mention you can eaves drop on people (because they're sitting so close to you -- theater is packed) and they're trying desperately to explain things to their friends who are like "ugh, I'll never get this twilight thing."
.... and yes, the movie was better than the book.
*gasp* sue me! I said it.
Never have I seen a movie better than the book. ...seriously, NEVER. But it happened. Lo and behold, it DID happen. Sorry, grandma.
The book was ok. The girl Bella did nothing but talk about "how how beautiful" this guy was. Ok, I get it. he's hott... next? But no. We're stuck on "he touched my hand! Oh how beautiful his eyes were when...." ugh, spare me.
The book WAS good in its own way though. It was a page turner... simply because you know before reading the book that this "Edward" is a vampire. Will he eat her? And his love for her is ... kind of nice looking at it from a girl's perspective.
But the movie was still better. It had better humor, better action, and stuck PERFECTLY with the book as far as the story goes. Which, a movie RARELY does that. My problem with the HP movies is that it takes SOOO much out of the books. This one didn't. There was like one scene that they left out. ONE. Everything else was there.
Overall... if you enjoyed the book, you'll love the movie. If you didn't read the book and you're still into the vampire scene ... you'll enjoy the movie. :)
Highly recommended. :)

I guess maybe a lack of words?
Grandma's been gone a year now. It's still hard to believe, but it's also easier -- because now memories have taken over, and I can actually laugh about things and no longer get weepy.
Tim got excellent news!
The school had a contest to see who could make a good book cover for a story of a local man who is making a book that's getting printed....Tim's won!!!!! He gets a free copy of the book and his name printed on it for recognition. So, if you know anyone who needs book illustrations......... :) He's your guy.
I got excellent news!
Went on the 2nd interview for that phlebotomy job and the guy practically said that I was hired. He can't officially say that because of background checks hadn't been done...etc. but he said that "they only send me the ones they like, and you came highly recommended." and "I just wanted to meet you before you started."
... basically, I got the job. It will take a while to get in the system though. I've talked to plenty of the people who were hired there and they said that it took a month to two months. Some of them had even gotten another job thinking that apparently they weren't hired there.... and then a week or so into the new job they got a call saying "Can you come to orientation?" :) So, at least I'll get to contribute a month or two to the assisted living job.
Hope everyone is doing well!

I passed my phlebotomy certification exam!!! I'm now officially "gradeated!" !!!!!! :)
To celebrate, tim and I went to see Fireproof. If you haven't already, and you've still got the chance, go see that movie. It's worth the $15-$20 you'll spend. The acting isn't exactly great. BUT, it definitely has good morals/no cursing/talks about God and "finding" salvation. Even though in the movie it -OF COURSE- implies that all you have to do is believe and you're "in".
It deals with all the major issues in the movie that some marriages deal with: respect/caring/romance/pornography/affairs/ect.
and if you think "there's nothing wrong with our marriage" .... go watch the movie. :) They address that, too. Because even though there may not be anything wrong with your marriage *now* there might be in the future, and thinking along those lines can blind you into believing that your marriage is perfect all the time.
Ok, getting off my tiny soap box there... but seriously. How many movies is out there now that does nothing but teach get divorced... find a new lover..conflictions... they're happy... end of story. WHILE taking God's name in vain and whatnot. We pay to see those movies... I've done it myself, I know others out there have too. (Stepmom... etc) We just kind of felt that this movie needed to be supported for it's "never leave your partner" mantra and all of the other good things about this movie. :) .... needless to say, I really hope you go see it and forgive the bad acting.
Today is Tim's birthday! :) AND.... I'm certified!!!! :)

The church that Tim and I have found ourselves to be in, is one of the best congregations I've been in. The people are so sweet. Some have taken Tim and I in as if we were their family and they knew us for years. It's truly been a blessing for us to be apart of them.
One of those couples that have taken Tim and I in, has been like family to us since the first day we met. They're A husband and wife who is older in the church. The husband actually went around "bragging" about how he was the oldest man in the congregation and could still ride the biggest, "baddest" roller coaster. :)
They had us over for dinner a long time ago, and they showed us some home videos of vacations they took (They went to all 48 states to go to the Church in all states. I heard they were shooting for Alaska next. :)
The husband, has been very sick lately. We thought he was getting better, but this morning between 8am-9am he passed away.
He was a strong pillar in the church, and a well respected man. I'll NEVER forget how moving it was for him to walk into church's building after he had been sick for so long (and we thought we had lost him then). Literally everyone in that building stood up and stood in line to welcome him back. I don't think there was a dry eye.
His wife had said today "I didn't get that last vacation with him, but I took my last trip with him. I rode in the hearse with him back home."
... it's a very sad/difficult time for the church right now, and especially his wife. I ask that you keep his family in your prayers -- as he was a very strong man who spoke boldly about God and the plan of salvation. He will be greatly missed.
****
Also, the preacher of the congregation -- he and his wife are currently sitting in the emergency room with their 1yr old who has blood in her stool. Please pray that everything is going to be ok with her.
***
Tomorrow I should "officially" graduate as a Phlebotomist! I'm to take my certification test... PLEASE please pray for me that all goes well. I can not afford to retake a test that *I* have to pay over $100 for.....
tomorrow is also Tim's birthday! (FINALLY, one good thing!)
Hoping ya'll are having a better beginning-of-the-week than we are!!! :) |
