Did you know...
That some flowers are edible?!?! Yes it is true, strange though it may seem. This revelation was revealed to me in yeterday's Tyler newspaper. In fact, ROSES are edible...
Roses - Flavors depend on type, color, and soil conditions. Flavor reminiscent of strawberries and green apples. Sweet, with subtle undertones ranging from fruit to mint to spice. All roses are edible, with the flavor being more pronounced in the darker varieties. In miniature varieties can garnish ice cream and desserts, or larger petals can be sprinkled on desserts or salads. Freeze them in ice cubes and float them in punches also. Petals used in syrups, jellies, perfumed butters and sweet spreads. NOTE: Be sure to remove the bitter white portion of the petals
hmmm...sound's interesting, however I don't think I'll be going out to the flower beds to get a snack just yet. :)
Summer's going good...so far I haven't found a job yet...Whitehouse has VERY limited jobs and most Tyler employers want eighteen year olds soooo....I am unemployed and thinking about volunteering at the library...maybe...
In my period of unemployment, I've been...
re-reading pride and prejudice, reading all of "A Grief Observed" by C.S. Lewis while sitting in Barnes and Noble, knitting a baby sweater, playing with two sweet little Sisco boys, swimming, practicing clarinet, drinking starbucks, meeting old people in the Austen section of the library who like reading Austen novels as well, hanging out with friends, celebrating father's day, and having a wonderful, relaxing, and enjoyable summer!
I already miss band...:(
But I'm looking forward to spending some time with Mallory next week in Longview, and of couse MO summer camp!!! :)
Pride and prejudice = happiness. :)
"You were disgusted with the women who were always speaking and looking, and thinking for your approbation alone. I roused, and interested you, because I was so unlike them."
"Adieu to disappointment and spleen. What are men to rocks and mountains?"
I hope that all of y'all are having a wonderful summer as well!

The Gospel meeting last week was great! The lessons were all so beneficial, and even though I was exhausted by Friday, it was so refreshing to be able to assemble with christians to sing, pray, and study together every night. :) It was also great to see yall!
Last week was however a little depressing because I invited my friend Travis to the meeting and he didn't make it...not because he didn't try...but because i am a HORRIBLE directions giver...or maybe he's a bad directions follower? :) anyway, I invited him...he tried coming...and later I found out that if he had simply driven a few minutes farther up the road then he would have made it! aahh! he did tell me that he would like to come some sunday or wednesday so please pray that that would be possible for him.
This week is the end of AP testing and band concert! That means...no more studying and no more practicing after Wednesday!!! Rejoice with me! :)

This past weekend was the UIL state trip to Austin. My computer died right before I printed my paper and I was therefore disqualified. Time was up and it is against the rules to touch the computer's keyboard after time is called, even if you are done writing. I'd rather have lost than to go and not even get the chance to be judged...I thought that the paper was pretty good too...o well. :) So, no success at state this year. No one else on the Whitehouse team placed either in any event except one guy placed 6th in history so I was excited for that. I did have fun hanging out with my nerd friends! :) In other news...
This week is our gospel meeting with Jay Taylor every night at 7! We'd love for you to come!
Friday is the AP History Exam! Yikes! Soooo unprepared for that (our teacher is a coach).
In Austin I found the most amazing book titled "Crepusculo"...it's the Spanish version of Twilight! I've started reading the spanish version while rereading the English one and have already learned a lot of new words! It's so helpful to be able, instead of just studying vocabulary, to see the way that their sentence structures, way of saying things, and different verb conjugations differ from Spanish to English. Plus it's just plain fun to read a book in Spanish! :) now if only I could go to Spain...:)
and finally, I leave you with a word of wisdom: exercise
lately I've begun riding my bike after realizing how extremely out of shape I am...it started one day upon deciding, "I need a break from school, I think I'll go for a nice bike ride." ha! 20 minutes later found me practically crawling into the house and collapsing on the floor panting before chugging a bottle of water. I've been going almost everyday now and...it hasn't gotten much better yet...it's actually pretty comical to see...:) So exercise, just do it...if you don't want your muscles screaming at you in outrage once you finally decide to get in shape. :) Hopefully it will get better soon...

And then I realize that this multitude of white names exists because I have been long absent from this marvelously beautiful blogging site. :( sorry. But I have enjoyed catching up on all of the latest pleonast news. It's so fun to read all of y'alls entries!
Life has been full, crazy, and wonderful. :) Lately I've been forced to play solos on the clarinet in band (while blushing the entire time most likely), killing myself to keep up with all of the homework and studying, going to practice U.I.L. meets every weekend, working on the newspaper with the crazy newspaper staff, attending singings and Bible studies with the young college kids from church, hanging out with friends, and having a wonderful crazy time! :) (wow i used the word crazy quite a lot up there)
Anyway, it should suffice to say that I have been busy. :)
Today is a happy day. Why you ask? Because, I answer, "NO TENGO TAREA!" (i don't have homework). Why? because of a lovely beautiful thing known as the Texas Assesment of Knowledge and Skills...yes the TAKS test!!! It might seem strange to some that I admit this but...I really do love taking the English TAKS test...it's kind of fun! Well, the multiple choice part is just easy and stupid but the essay...the essay is the joy of all joys, the pinnacle of happiness, the epoch of testing bliss; for, it is in one simple word...fun. :) I love just sitting down and rambling about some made-up event using a lot of grandiose language and descriptive scenes that in any other form of writing would be totally ludicrous. If you don't have the pleasure of taking the TAKS test...try it some time, it's quite entertaining. (wow that was nerdy) :)
Anyway...I've also been preparing for the upcoming district U.I.L. meet...scary! I'm going to be competing in ready writing (where you sit down and write for two hours using literary and historical examples about a quote provided to you - my favorite event :)) , news writing (like what you would read on the front page of the newspaper), and feature writing (human interest newspaper stories)...the meet should be fun...I love getting to hang out all day with all of my nerd friends...but it's still kind of scary because it's the BIG meet we've been preparing for. *crossing my fingers for a good writing prompt* Anyway...we still have a little longer to prepare for it which is a very good thing.
Reading that over I just realized how truly nerdy I am....wow. Anyway, I hope that everyone is having a great second semester. For those of you taking the TAKS tomorrow...good luck and have fun! :P I'll end this rambling entry with a quote I recently ran across that I fell in love with. Here it is:
"To the ear of God everything he created makes exquisite music, and man joined in the paean of praise until he fell, then there came in the frantic discord of sin. The realization of redemption brings man by way of the minor note of repentance back into tune with praise again."
~Oswald Chambers
Isn't it beautiful how he ties music in with Christianity? I think it's breathtaking.
