Upcoming vacation! 07-14-08 11:26pm EST
We will be leaving for vacation on Saturday morning and she and her family will be going with us. We are going to Gatlinburg. We are looking forward to the time together to do things around Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge and also visit my brother and his wife. This week I have appointments of some kind everyday and plan to get together with some friends to eat. I won't be able to go out to eat for a while after surgery. I'm going to really enjoy my vacation time with family. We won't be back until the 26th and then I will be doing a few things and get ready for surgery. Please continue to pray for me.
tucksmomHope you enjoy your time away.
livingforhim78Have a wonderful vacation. When is the surgery date?
bbeasleyAnother vacation??? I hope your appointments go well this week and then you can have time to relax with the family! Have fun!!
all_gods_childrenWhat a fun trip you will have! Enjoy!!! I keep praying!

Update on hiatal hernia!!!! 07-03-08 07:05pm EST
Today I went to the doctor and spent about 45 or 50 minutes in his office and listening to the procedure that he will be doing to repair my hiatal hernia and fix my stomach in place. It is a very detailed surgery and he will do it as laparoscopic surgery. The surgery will take about 4 hours. Please pray that all will go well. He said I would probably lose about 15 pounds after this surgery. For at least three weeks I can't eat bread and I can't remember but I believe it was about 6 weeks for steak, pork, chicken, or any kind of meat. He said there will be a lot of swelling in that area where he will be working and I'll have to be on soft foods for a while. He said even 6 weeks after the surgery I will feel fuller quicker and won't eat as much. This sounds like a very serious surgery and I would appreciate all the prayers that I can get. Please pray for me and for the doctor doing the procedure that all will go well.
lyndieOh, I'm so sorry you have to have all that! We'll sure keep you in our prayers.
cbairdGatlinburg was actually our first choice but then decided to go to my parents house instead. We though maybe the kids would enjoy TN more if they were a little older. Have a great trip and we'll be praying that your surgery goes well.
pjalfordwow...that sounds like an ordeal. you will surely be in our prayers. please continue to update!
cdillman23I won't be able to be there the day it happens but I will be there soon after.
all_gods_childrenIt does sound like a big surgery. We'll be keeping you in thought and prayer. Maybe you can get creative with your "liquid diet" :o) I pray with all of that done, you will be feeling better!

We are excited to see the whole family. The boys have been counting down the days with a calendar. We all try to get together about once a year, but it seems like it happens every other year. Still, it's great to have everyone in one place for a short while.!. :)
all_gods_childrenP.S. Picking your own Dr. is a good one. I like that freedom! :)
mjunutOoh. Best wishes and good prayers. I hope you will have a speedy recovery.
livingforhim78Sorry to hear that. They did the Laparoscopic surgery on my back. Less scaring and all. So that is a plus. Right? :) I lost 25 pounds from no appetite over a month's period of time. I think I should get another done soon, so I can eat less again. HAHA.
tucksmomThinking of you...
matkinsHi, remember me from N Blvd (cheryl's friend) I pray that all goes well and we will be praying for you constantly.
mmmcoffeeMay God bless you with a great surgery and quick recovery! sounds like a rough way to lose 15 lbs.
tortillaI am Cheryl's friend from FC. I will be praying for you! Sounds like a very big deal. AND if you are anything like Cheryl, can't stand to loose 15 lbs! ;) when is it planned for??

Things we are doing! 06-28-08 08:40pm EST
Today we went to her house that is being built and my husband helped Cheryl and her husband sort through some lumber he wanted to keep. The builder is planning to haul it away on Monday so Brian wanted to go through it first. We spent most of the day there. The house is really coming along nice and I think they will enjoy the place once it is finished. It is exciting to see the different stages of the house. We plan to go back down on Tuesday. My husband is cutting wood from the trees they had cut down and we are hauling it home to put in our woodstove in the winter time. We heat our house with wood. Thus far, we have been able to get wood free and we have been using a woodstove since 1985 to heat our house.

In three weeks we will be going to Gatlinburg for a week's vacation. I'm looking forward to going there but I know it will be crowded. Gatlinburg is really a tourist trap but it will be enjoyable anyway. I am always ready to go on vacation. We have three other vacations planned for this year after Gatlinburg. That's what people can do once they retire. My husband is mostly retired. I think he only worked 8 or 9 weeks last year.

I hope everyone has a good rest of the weekend. I look forward to going to church tomorrow. It's always nice when we can assemble with other saints.
tucksmomLooking forward to seeing you..
livingforhim78Yeah, I need a vacation too! How is your back feeling?
all_gods_childrenI think it's wonderful that you are able to go places and see and experience new things. Kuddos to you guys for doing it! Gatlinburg is a lot of fun... Have a great time!!!
bbeasleySeems like you are always going somewhere. That's great you can do that though!
matidwellAnd, thanks for treating me to dinner last night.
chickadeeWhere are you going on the other three vacations? Anywhere near Ohio?

Update on Endoscopy 06-25-08 08:49pm EST
This morning I had my endoscopy and the doctor wants me to see a surgeon. He says my hiatal hernia is large and the stomach is twisted in the hernia. I have an appointment with the surgeon on July 3rd. The doctor this morning says I need my hernia repaired and my stomach tacked down. Not much else going on. I'm just trying to recover from today. I was put to sleep and have been sleeping some since I came home.
tucksmomNo wonder you've been having problems! Thinking of you...
cdillman23Let me know when that is and I will try to be here for you.
livingforhim78Try to rest and relax.
all_gods_childrenWell...that doesn't sound good, now, does it? I'm glad they've figured out a solution and pray that you get some relief soon.

Home Again! 06-21-08 09:59pm EST
We got back home last night a little tired but glad to be back. It was a nice vacation and we enjoyed the train ride through the Verde Canyon. We also went to the Roosevelt Dam. The time spent away from home and doctors was enjoyable. Now it is back to doctors appointments this next week.

As you know cats can be finicky. Well, mine didn't even come out to see me when we got home. Misty actually came out first last night and she is the shy one. I guess they were sulking because I had been gone. Today, Frisky is back to sitting on my desk when I am at the computer, though. He thinks he is an ornament.

Not much else going on. Cheryl, Brian, and the girls came to town today to do some things and came by the house for dinner and visited a while.

I get a shot in my lower back on Monday to relieve some of the pain in the back. On Wednesday I have the endoscopy.
tucksmomGlad you made it home safely.
cdillman23We forgot to say thank you for supper!! I never did see the cats but I guess next time we are there, we will see them.
livingforhim78Good luck with all of your testing, and the shot. Glad you had a good and safe vacation. :)
matidwellWelcome back and I hope dad's sermon went well today. We also had a "guest" speaker. :)
batidwEmily and Drew have both said within the past week that they want to go to your house. When would be a good time this week for us to come over for a couple of hours?
norriejSure hope that the news is good with the Dr's this week. And I pray that the shot will help. My Dad got those for awhile.
batidwWhat time do you get home from physical therapy? I'll be getting ready for our trip at the end of the week, so tomorrow would probably be the best day.
all_gods_childrenSo glad ya'll made it home safe! And...had a fun time! Keep us posted! :)
