Well we are officially moved in! We got everything moved on Friday. We decided to rent a little longer before taking the plunge into purchasing a home. I want to get settled in my job more and save some more money by living closer.
Just an FYI, apartments prices are ridiculous! Most of the two bedrooms would have cost the same as the payment (principal & interest, HOA dues, insurance, and flood insurance) would have been on the home we were thinking about purchasing in Tomball. We did find a nice apartment complex and got a two bedroom for the same price as our one bedroom in Rosenberg, but there is one catch, they only had apartments available on the third floor. We didn't think it would be that bad, but let's just say after Friday, NEVER EVER again! At the end of the day, I was absolutely exhausted. For the most part it was just Carissa, my sister-in-law, and me moving everything up 40 stairs. My father-in-law was able to help us finish that night once he got off work.
I have a love/hate relationship with moving. I hate packing/unpacking and moving but I do like new things. I hate change, but also like it. I guess I am just weird.
Two bright spots about our location.
1. Steak and Shake
-It is less than .5 mile from us. I have always considered myself a Whataburger man, and I still think it's a great fast food restaurant, but ever since I found Steak and Shake, I have a new love. Carissa thought it would be hard to top Whataburger, much like I did, but she has converted. We love it. I think Bridget can attest to how much I like it. Carissa and I have eaten there numerous times before we moved. We have only been here two days and already eaten there once and gotten a strawnilla shake twice since we ate there. I love the Frisco melt and cheese fries. I have yet to venture away from this dish when I go there. Steak and Shake may hinder my saving money and make me a short 300lb+ man. Pray for me please.
2. Gas
-It is not over $2.00 anywhere around here. I paid $1.86 and it cost me $38 dollars to fill up! That is much better than the $93 that I was paying before prices started to drop.
Another thing that I hate/love about moving is changing churches. I fell in love with Ave. N and hate to leave the great people over there. If you read this blog, you are well aware that I believe you would be hard pressed to find a better group of Christians. I hated to leave Twin City thinking I would not find a congregation that I liked as much. I was wrong, I met great people at Twin City, met best friends who became brothers, and realized that there are people my age that care about Christ. I went to Ave. N and the congregation there exceeded Twin City to me. I always fear that I won't find a congregation that I like and will be "stuck" with one that is just ok.
We visited Cy-Fair this morning and they seemed like a great group of people. They were very friendly and outgoing. It was much like my first time at Ave. N, I had to fight my way out of the building with everyone coming up to greet us. That is a good thing of course. Shows me that they are friendly and a caring group. Seems like they are a close bunch. Carissa went again tonight and said that everyone was very nice to her and Cheyenne. Cheyenne was a big hit of course ;-). That's actually probably the only reason everyone was friendly to us was because of Cheyenne jk/lol.
I saw a lot of people there that I knew growing up and from college. I saw aTm buddy Levi and his wife Lauren, people I went to church with at Norhill, and a family that is very close to me, the Shaws. David was out of town, but I was able to see Ruth and Justin. It was great to see them again. They always treated me great and loved me when I was a kid, and I look forward to seeing David on Wednesday.
That's all that I can think of to update on. Hope everyone is doing well. |

What's going on right now....
Just trying to learn to play the guitar. It's enjoyable but quite frustrating too. That's really the only new thing that is going on right now.
Cheyenne is still the best baby I have ever seen ;-) |

Praise the Lord, for He IS truely good!
Carissa delivered a beautiful and healthy baby girl yesterday. She entered this world at 8lbs and 12oz., 21 inches long with huge hands and feet!
I will post pictures as soon as I can, but let me caution you, you will instantly fall in love with her upon sight. Now that you know, don't act suprised when you do!
God is gracious!
I must say, you will be hard pressed to find a stronger woman than Carissa. She had this baby without an epidural(?) and didn't utter one complaint. She was at 8cm and the most you heard about it was, "Oh it's a cramping some." The nurses and doctors were suprised at how well she did. She did not have any pain until the the doctor broke her water at 8cm. I am so proud of her and if there was a way I could show off how well she did, I would. I am SO proud of her.
God IS Love!
I was blessed in the seeing the birth of little Cheyenne. At first, I was thinking it would be gross, but that could not be farther from the truth. That was my ignorance and stupidity speaking. It was beautiful, it was awesome, it ripped your heart, it was something that cannot be described! I feel like John when he tried to describe Heaven in Revelation. I STRONGLY encourage anyone who has the chance to witness a birth, do it. Lord willing, I will be there to witness this for every other child of ours.
God is our Strength!
Please keep Carissa and Cheyenne in your prayers and please pray that I will be the type of father that God wants. |

Go here to see an update on the pregnancy. If you want to, feel free to leave her some encouragement, support, or a few words of kindness. She is about to embark on a monumental task! |
