We are working on getting one of the best impersonators in the country. It is scheduled for Friday, Oct. 17.
The show is a benefit - fundraiser for the Nathan Ing family. As many of you know Nathan is a six-year-old boy with terminal brain cancer. His family stands in need of help.
It is going to be a big event. General admission for adults is $20, children 12 & under is $10. Reserved seating is $50 per person.
The impersonator is Jimmy Johnson and he is amazingly like Elvis in looks and voice. The show is supposed to be fantastic.
If you can join us in the area on Oct. 17, let me know and I will arrange for you to get tickets before they are sold out.
We went to the zoo last Friday with Nathan, Paul, and Missy.
Nathan and Elijah had a good time.
You can get an update on fundraising for Nathan Here
If you want to see some zoo pictures and what I consider a great video of me interacting with a gorilla (it gets exciting about 1/3 of the way through) Click Here
We enjoyed the video. She was ready to take you out! You all are making special memories w/the Ings. I know you all are proud of Elijah, as you should be.
yeah, you figured out who I am.... I'm impressed that your son can tie his own tie, that's cool, our 15 year old cannot tie one but that might be because right now he does not own one.... since he required new clothes every few months we are saving the suit and tie thing until he stops growing for a while or he needs to go to a funeral which ever comes first!!
Just a quick note to folks. Our son Elijah, turning 6 next month, tied his own tie. He has a couple of "real" ties that he loves. I worked with him several times to show him how it is done. He came in the other day having done it himself. It was impressive to us.
He also lost two teeth in one day. It was tramatic at first, but then he got used to it.
Many of you have heard of Nathan Ing and his illness over the past 1 1/2 years. You may also know that the latest report is his brain cancer is back and is terminal.
It is devastating to his parents, sister, and all of us. Please go to the following web page on my site to read more of the situation and how you can truly help.
Wow. I cried. I remember when it was first announced at our church about little Nathan. He is the same age as my son Nathan so it hit me pretty hard. This is a wonderful thing you are doing for the family. Great site. God bless.
The trip to Idaho was a good one. I really enjoyed being with the brethren out there. We had profitable discussions on a variety of topics.
Travel back was quite rough. I preached Friday night and the question and answer session lasted until after 10 PM. I finally left town around 10:30 PM and made the approximate 3 hour drive to Salt Lake. I went to the hotel, but could not sleep...I had to be at the airport around 3:30 AM (Saturday).
I was feeling good because I had an aisle seat on the exit row with no one next to me. I was also first through security that morning. However, when I got on the plane, there was a punk kid behind me with his friends. He was talking loud, singing loud, and eventually hitting the tray on my seat. Well, those of you who know me know what happened next. When he began hitting the tray, I unbuckled my seatbelt, spun around looking over the seat and said, "Cut it out!" The reply? "Uh, what are you talking about." "Hitting the seat. Cut it out now!" The flight attendant came up about that time and asked if everything was okay. I bluntly explained and she apologized to me. There were not any problems on the rest of the trip, other than I got very, very little sleep.
So, from the time I got up Friday morning to when I got into Louisville on Saturday afternoon, my sleep was near zero (that is, a few minutes here and there on the second flight).
Anyway, I shot some video on the trip you can see on my web site www.PlainFaith.com
Nathan was telling me that story the other day and I was rolling. It always seems like he ends up with the crazy and undisciplined kids behind him every time we fly.
derbydi is right...you are a nut, but J and I were cracking up at your paragraph about my hair. you'll get to see it in person at xmas. i know you just, like, totally, can't wait! :)
I like Frani, laughed too. I hate to go to the movies for that same reason you get some punk kids either in front of you or behind you that cause problems.
Sorry you had such a rough trip... but it was worth it, right?! I would nevr have the guts to step up and say anything... the only time I do is when I am pregnant! For some reason I can stand up for myself and others when I am. Weird, I know.
At least you didn't get thrown up on. The only flight I was on this kid threw up on me. Right after the flight started. Luckily it was a short flight. Yuck I couldn't wait to get home and wash everything. I found a dime yesterday and I was wondering how the fund was going do you think I should save it for you? :-)
Christina, pregnancy does weird things to women...and sometimes men. Don't sweat it. Probably in a few years you will say many things to many people, especially if you feel your children are not being treated well...always seems to get a mother going.
ok since you really don't know me that well I'll give you a big hint. 3/4 of my husband's family are members at HL. We met at a really strange wedding.
