I am going crazy! Two weeks ago I bought a pineapple. With the pineapple came gnats! Usually not a problem...right?!!

WRONG!!!!!!!!!!!

We have a serious gnat problem on our hands. We have gotten on-line and found a few home remedy's for them but none are working as quickly as I would like!!!!!

Any suggestions out there???? I have never seen anything like this. We have had gnats before but they always have gone away as soon as the fruit was out of the house.

HELP!! PLEASE!!!


mommaroush	Ewwww..... um... I got nothin'. Have you made sure to wipe down everything in the kitchen in case there's sugar or something hiding somwhere?
becfie	are they fruit flies? I had an issue one time. One thing I tried that seemed to work well was getting a jar, put just a little bit of red wine vinegar in it and put a piece of plastic wrap around the top, secured with a rubber band. Then poke small holes in it. They are are attracted to the sweet smell and will get trapped in the jar. You might want to check that something else isn't attracting them, also. I didn't realize that I had put some potatoes inside my roaster, just to store them. That is where they were and it wasn't a pretty sight when I figured it out!
kristindoula	You might have to do a "bomb" thing. Ick. But I suggest calling your local pest control services and ask their advice.

snickers63	banana in a jar, with funnel on top - they fly in, but can't fly out. ^^^oh, someone else had similar idea
hoose	I had fruitflies in Lakewood EVERY stinkin summmer. I would get several plastic cups and place them around wherever the fruitflies were. In the cups, I'd put some sort of juice and a few drops of dish soap. The dish soap breaks the surface tension so that when they hit the water, they just go under. It's not a fast process. The key is finding the source. Like Serena said, try to see if they are coming out the drain. If so, then use a drain cleaner. Also check for other damp spots where they could be breeding (under the sink, in the garbage can below the bag, etc). The cup thing isn't a quick fix. I got them pretty bad a few times and wasn't willing to wait for that I had some bug spray. I'd kill all the ones that I could see, and then hide the fruit fly traps around for all of the strays. I'm sorry you have fruitflies. I had a 3 year battle with them and hated them!

nick_katie	Well, I've had experience with gnats from the working in funeral homes. (You don't really want to think about where those were coming from...) They really became a problem in TX at the funeral home I was working in. I called the pest control people and they told me that there was nothing they could do. They don't have a chemical to get rid of them b/c they reproduce so quickly. They said to pour bleach down the sink drains, remove all plants, fruit, trash from inside. Basically they look for any organic (food,etc.) material to reproduce in and they do so at an extremely high rate. If you remove all possible places where they can lay their eggs, you should see a significant reduction. The rest will die fairly quickly. Good luck! I KNOW they are so aggrevating.

dcroush	Gnats? Have you thought about maybe trying to understand their feelings? Get into their heads? Ask yourself, if I were a gnat, why would I want to fly around the Hardin's kitchen? Once you have ascertained the answer to this question, you will have the key to your solution. I have no idea what I'm talking about :)

I am in the mood for some Thanksgiving fun!

I am really excited. This year we are having Thanksgiving at our house. This will be the second time its been in our home. Of course I won't be cooking alone. My mom, grandma, sister and daughters will be there to help. :)

Anyway, I am ready and excited. So, what are you up to this Thaknsgiving??? Traveling or hosting??

flowerpower	Mom, Crystal and I are cooking for Grandma Dickey and Uncle Dick and Aunt Margaret...then Rex's mom's family (Hollingsworth's) are getting together that Friday. Hopefully we will have time to go downtown and see the circle lighted. I'm so excited!

alp1926	I love Thanksgiving. We'll eat at my dad's. The girls are big on tradition. My mom passed away, but they refuse to have it at our house. My mom would be so happy about that. She always said she loved having them come (we always go on Sunday, too) because she figured the day would come when they would have other things to do. They still love to go even at 21, 18, and 14. Wish she could know that. Enjoy your family.
