Blank Verse

I was told to write a poem,
But my mind went blank in time,
Now I have written a poem,
But it is not blank; it rhymes!

*Gleam* 11-20-08 09:58pm CST
Now this was abrupt, and unexpected (okay, I knew it was a possibility, but I didn't expect it yet). However, I think I'll take advantage of it.... Anyone care to list HSCampers who are on here, especially those don't already have on my list? =)

Thank you, my dear aunt!!! =D
swiftbladesintherainNice!
engelishgentlemanCool!
sirtarin"I it"? (Note that this is not a private comment, even though such are now within my capabilities. ;D
sirtarin)
sirtorin^ *Scowl* -_-
rogueangelYou're shiny!!!
the_rainy_dogOh what endless possibilities of twins leaving private comments. ;-) Scary. =D

Congratulations you two!
herebedragonsI think I need to post to break the monotony of gold posters. :P
tiaoooh. sweet!
phyllisophical_mom Yep, gold is over-rated... I LOVE silver myself!
phyllisophical_mom I'm just jealous. Actually...I'm not, I think it is a wonderful gift!! What fun the you can have now!
mr_and_mrs_berryOoooohhh, I'd wondered who you two were. Gold is nice, especially for you younger folks who are very adept at using it! As my dtr said (she had it for 1 year as a b-day present) - save your photos before it expires in one year.
sallyanneYou are going to have fun with this!!
lizzbethHave fun with your gold! :)
twiggyhello hamilton twin
bookworm14I know! I know! You got gold?! :)

dr_corndogAh, to be gold again.
dragon_bladeSweetness. I think...the possibilities of gold that are now opened up to you may make Pleo somewhat dangerous for us..."greys". o_O Jk... :D

Leavin' in the Mornin' 11-20-08 05:48pm CST
Headin' to Abalama, and plan to be gone for a week or so. =)

It might be a good idea to pack....

This Is My Father's World 11-19-08 05:21pm CST
My short talk for tonight is a bit different from what is usually done (at least not usually done here). I'm taking the song, This Is My Father's World, and going through verses that the ideas in the song seem to have been based on, to hopefully give more meaning to it when we sing it.

This is my Father’s world, and to my listening ears_______________________________________________Psalm 8:1-9
All nature sings, and round me rings the music of the spheres.
This is my Father’s world: I rest me in the thought
Of rocks and trees, of skies and seas;
His hand the wonders wrought.

This is my Father’s world, the birds their carols raise,__________________________________________Psalm 148:1-13
The morning light, the lily white, declare their Maker’s praise.
This is my Father’s world: He shines in all that’s fair;
In the rustling grass I hear Him pass;
He speaks to me everywhere.

This is my Father’s world. O let me ne’er forget____________________________________________I Corinthians 10:13
That though the wrong seems oft so strong, God is the ruler yet.
This is my Father’s world: the battle is not done:
Jesus Who died shall be satisfied,
And earth and Heav’n be one.

This is my Father’s world, dreaming, I see His face.___________________________________________Psalm 139: 7-12
I ope my eyes, and in glad surprise cry, “The Lord is in this place.”
This is my Father’s world, from the shining courts above,____________________________________________John 3:16
The Beloved One, His Only Son,
Came—a pledge of deathless love.

This is my Father’s world, should my heart be ever sad?________________________________________Psalm 29:1-11
The lord is King—let the heavens ring. God reigns—let the earth be glad.
This is my Father’s world. Now closer to Heaven bound,
For dear to God is the earth Christ trod.
No place but is holy ground.

This is my Father’s world. I walk a desert lone.____________________________________________Philippians 4:10-13
In a bush ablaze to my wondering gaze God makes His glory known.
This is my Father’s world, a wanderer I may roam
Whate’er my lot, it matters not,
My heart is still at home.

I didn't give the text of the verses on purpose.... Open those Bibles! =)
dragon_bladeThat is an excellent lesson, Torin!! ;) That song has always been one of my favorites... :D
pianobubYou should Google "music of the spheres"
sirtorin^ That's quite interesting... thank you for pointing it out. =)
cyber_space_cadetThanks, this was really good to read.
liseybugThis is one of my favorite hymns....I always think of sheep when we sing it...like Psalms 8:7 :-)
stevenbramanGood idea. It gives me a few ideas for invitation talks.
sallyanneGood lesson!
cyber_space_cadetSafe travels, and have a great time.
swiftbladesintherainHave a great trip!
tiaHave fun!

New Post 11-17-08 10:42am CST
Well, I've stopped getting comments on my previous post, so I suppose it's time for a new one, eh?

Since technically I was tagged twice quite some time ago now, and I only did 8 things, I'll join them and do another 8.

This set took me a while, because I felt like I cheated last time, and I didn't want to this time. =)

1) I sometimes find myself attempting to imitate facial expressions or small gestures mentioned in books that I read. Lately, I was trying to figure out just how someone with a twinkle in their eye looks....

2) I enjoy very warm showers, yet I still occasionally wash my hands in cold water... I used to do it all the time, but not so much anymore.

3) I thought it would be fun to refer to myself as a write-y lefty, lofty righty. This is because I throw better right-handed despite being left-handed.

4) I've about decided that I like Cheerios drizzled with honey better than Honey Nut Cheerios. =P

5) I dislike green beans, unless they are cooked in the way Mother has almost always done them (to the extent of my memory): drain half the liquid from the can(s) of green beans, sprinkle with garlic salt and boil until the beans are very tender, and most of the liquid is gone, stirring occasionally. Cooked this way, they might be my favorite green vegetable. =)

6)
~6a) My favorite spices in cooking are garlic and red pepper.
~6b) My favorite things to cook are desserts.
~6c) I don't use my favorite spices in my favorite things to cook.

7) When putting away dishes, especially the glasses, I prefer to try to have matching colors in each stack, if I can.

8) I don't have a particular favorite color. When someone asks such a silly question as, "What's your favorite color?," My favorite response is, "In what context?"
sirtarin1, 2, 5, 6 (Though I'd probably add chili powder to my favirtie spices.), and 8 apply to me too. Sometimes I do 7, but I generally don't bother putting much effort into trying. =P
phyllisophical_mom Are you going to Moulton? (I think that is how you spell it) Where your mom's mom lives? You'll probably go thru Memphis...we are an hour northeast from there, and Moulton is actually only about 2 1/2 hours from us. I drive thru their on my way to Cullman, AL...passing thru Corinth, MS...and you know who lives there!
sallyanneI'm all about desserts (referring to 6b) ;)
engelishgentlemanLOL at #6!!! And the other facts were quite interesting too.
cyber_space_cadetThis was fun to read, and I got a charge out of #6. :)
chessmanYou were too thorough with #6. I read a & b and though hmm..., then I read c...
sirtorin^ Hehe. There was a reson I added that in. =)
sirtarinReason* ;)
sirtorin^ -_-

Hehehe.

stevenbramanThey do make Garlic icecream in Gilroy California at the Garlic Festival each year.
sirtorinAh, my friend, I can return your favor... Favorite* (not favirtie). ;)
sirtarin^ Oh. The humiliation! =P
lizzbethIt very likely was what she was working on! :)
betterthanyouhaha I love number 6
memento_moriI cooked supper tonight, and as I put in the chili powder, I thought of you two. :-D
herebedragonsI love garlic and red pepper! I use red pepper almost the same way I use salt. :)
herebedragonsHave you ever had green beans cooked in the skillet with bacon and onion? I think that is pretty much the best way to eat them.
memento_moriI have a *mostly* clean bedroom, which is better than a *mostly* clean conscience, yes? (-:
sherryI agree with you on the cheerios. As far as color goes... In the context of hair?
sirtarin^ Natural. =)
dragon_bladeThanks! I'm really getting into this picture posting thing... :D
