Joseph A. Bank in Clear Lake in front of Target and across from the mall. I also bought one at Foley's at Almeda. I have particularly liked what's called a Trio -- you get two pairs of slacks with each coat. Because of those purchases, I basically just buy new ties to change them up...many combinations!
Well, I must have the smartest kids in the world. I have a ten month old who very seldom wets her diaper. After every meal she sits on the potty and tinkles and she even went "potty" in the potty. She acts like she doesn't like it, but is very successful. She knows what to do when she gets on. Today was the best day ever. She was happy all day long and much more calm. No times of panic. Jesse took her swimming (the water was a little cold) she enjoyed it as much as you can enjoy cold water. She did great. I think she has gained a little weight too. The first day she was not interested in anything to eat. Today, everytime we turned around we were having to find something for her to eat. So much for not changing her diet. Although we never really figured out what she was eating in the orphanage since we had the language barrier. She loves to eat and gets very excited about it. We hope to go to China Beach tomorrow, Monday. Then catch a flight to Hanoi at 4:30 Tuesday PM. AM your time. I will be so glad to get home, but will miss this little girl when we part ways. Hummmm, maybe I'll just head on up to Lufkin.
It is 6:40 AM here in VN. Maia is sleeping in bed with Jesse. Not a good habit to start, but she is sleeping "like a baby" he is too. I tried to take a picture w/o the flash, but it is too dark. She did great last night. Sept through, only a few minor wimpers. Jesse has to go with Hung today to start the process for her passport and visa. He then goes back to the orphanage to thank the nannies. It will give Maia and I time to get to know one another. We can relax now and look forward to going home. That will not happen until next Friday.
Thank you for all of your prayers, so so much. Thank you God.
Sincerely, Cindy
hi - this is deanna vaughan = a friend of kim and jesse from lufkin. i've so enjoyed reading on your blog about maia and your vn experiences! i'm so, so, so happy for y'all and can't wait to meet that sweet little girl. wasn't it so nice that you were able to help them out in this way! hope your day with her goes well!
I am so happy for your family. Shelby, Taylor and I have been reading your blog - we decided to skip China for now and study VN. We are all praying for yalls safe return.
As you know our G&R should have been yesterday, but Maia became ill and it was cancelled for yesterday. We went this moring to visit her and she was alseep and looked fine. She later woke up and seemed to be doing just fine. The couple that is here adopting their little boy "Bang", great name for him by the way, was here with us and while holding him he threw up on her. Then another one threw up. One of the nannies was showing us pictures from yesterday on her phone camera that showed them all eating cake a very sweet, very rich cake, which the kids are not use to. Some of the nannies were not feeling well yesterday after eating. So we think we have figured out the reason for Maia's upset tummy. We can't wait to get her and stop this type of thing. The nannies do a very good job, but NO CAKE PLEASE!
Everything is also filled with MSG and pork. I don't do either, but I am sure I have eaten my share of MSG this past week and not known it. Many, many people smoke here and there is no nonsmoking areas. So at breakfast we have smoke with our meal.
We went to the market again yesterday and saw many new sights. A bowl full of slithering type snakes, to sell, to eat. It was so gross.
Oh yes, the humidity here is 1000%. Lovely! And yes my hair looks really GOOD! NOT! Baby fine hair and humidity are gross. Today is very nice actually. Sunny. We are waiting for a call from Hung for any news. We want to go home with Maia, but first I want to do a little more sightseeing.
I washed all of our undie clothes last night and they are still not completely dry. Jesse tried to dry his socks with a hair dryer. It was a project to keep us occupied. We are learning to eat less, only two meals a day. We snack for the noon meal. I brought energy bars, cashews, walnuts, some cereal and we bought some fruit.
This is for my mom "Hi momma, I love you and miss you. Hope you are feeling good. Larry, I'll talk to you on the webcam hopefully tonight, your morning. Hey Rebekah and Carol, Brian and Mike and all my sweet grandkids. Magnus, Titus, (happy birthday Titus), Justus and Rayray. Kyle, Claire, Elias and Avery also little Rosemary. Be good and take care of your mom and dad. I love you all.
Makes you appreciate home a lot more doesn't it! You will have soooo many stories to tell when you get back. Can't wait to hear them all. Keep smiling and know that we are all praying for your quick return with beautiful little Maia.
We ventured out again today to shop for Maia. Milk, diapers, stroller, a pillow that she is fond of at the orphanage. We are looking for some little books, but were unable to find any appropiate for her. We are attract attention when we go out, but when we come out with a bright green stroller it is really bad.
I hope you all have a good Lord's Day and appreciate being able to be with those who are like minded. "Where two or more are gathered in My name..."
i've been thinking about ya'll a lot, can't imagine what it's like over there. i talked larry into giving us a short report on ya'll when he did the announcements tonite
