Stuff... 11-19-08 11:17am CST
In all the economic upheavals going on around us, I had an interesting email waiting for me when I came back into work yesterday. Our CEO was asking us to send a letter to our Congressmen and Senators asking them to loan the automakers (our partners) the $25b they are asking for.

I'm was/am torn...My conservative side says 'No', maybe going thru Chapter 11 would be good for them in the long run...make them and the unions re-work their contracts, build cars that are more fuel efficient, and more dependable. But my wanting to have a job and income for my family says 'Yes'.

I start thinking if I hadn't done some of the foolish things I've done financially, I could have the faith I needed to know no matter what happens...sending a letter or not, loosing my job or not...God is in control and will always take care of my family and I, as well as all of us.

That's enuff babblin' for now...
neenoutMy guess is that the automakers will get the bailout money in the end. I could be wrong but I can see your dilemma here. Your last sentence is exactly right. And that is true even when we make bad financial decisions. I know God has seen us through some very rough patches due to our mistakes with money. We have and will continue to keep you and your job in our prayers! No matter what you will be taken care of!
lovinstlouis02Yeah, I think they'll get the money, but I think it is wrong too. Wish someone would bail all of us out, but how much in debt is our country already? What will the automakers learn from this?
neentothebeanYou are so right! God IS in control and that makes everything better in my mind:)
nannaoh, Chuck..I miss you and your family. You should just move to NJ.
lovinstlouis02YES! Get Curt and Jody on here!
lovinstlouis02WOW. I had no idea adoptions weren't so expensive. Interesting detail. I mean, really, I was expecting like $10,000 or something!

Prayers Requested 10-28-08 04:29pm CST
Today was 'Black Tuesday' at ERAC (Enterprise Rent A Car). There were ~165 employees laid off from IT...some of them were close friends and teammates. Supposedly, they are done 'for now', but with some of the employees they let go, not many would be safe from further lay offs.

Please keep my family in your prayers, and that I will have the wisdom on what to do if the next round hits me.
angeladI'm sorry to hear about that. You guys will be in our prayers.
neentothebeanFOrrest came home and told me tonight! I am so sorry to hear this. We will be praying here!!
neenoutwe will definitely be praying for all. God will provide no matter what!

Big Pleo THANKIN' 09-16-08 01:55pm CST
With the weekend we had (10+ ER trips this calendar year) I thought it necessary to give out a big pleo Thank You to two unbelievable families.

They are some of the greatest friends, let alone Christian friends, anyone could have.

Thank you does not cover it enough...but THANK YOU!
neentothebeanWe are all so blessed to be here together and to be friends! It is such a joy to love and know your family!! We love you all!!! I hope that your ER visits have come to an end. That will be our prayer:)
clickI agree wholeheartedly!! =)
neenoutIt's very easy to love the Jenkins! It really IS a joy to have your friendship! I also hope that your days at the ER will decrease dramatically in the coming months. I can just hear your Christmas carols now..."All I want for Christmas is no ER visits, no ER visits, no ER visits.."
angeladThy are wonderful! I hope this is your last ER visit.
nannawow!! i'm so glad things are ok now. oh, and by the way, you should put up a new picture of your kids. that one is outdated.

Anudder Proud Moment 09-02-08 09:33am CST
Having six kids has taught me there will rarely be a dull moment...especially with the wide range of personalities our six kids have..

On Sunday night, we had our monthly singing at church. San and Sierra stayed home due to a fun early morning run the ER, so I took the remaining five to church Sunday night..

Being a holiday weekend, the crowd was small, and the song leaders were even smaller.

Micah sat right next to me, practically on me, and asked if we were just doing singing tonight...I told him yes, and his eyes lit up...

I asked him if he had a song or songs he wanted to sing...he said yes, and wanted to know if he could lead them???

After realizing what he asked, I told him he may want to talk to one of our song leaders and get some tips from him when he returned...What started as joy, quickly turned to disappointment...

I did a quick gut-check, said a quick prayer, and told him if he knew the words to the song and the tune, he could do it. He started beaming, and asked what would happen if someone else took his song. I told him to have a 2nd song ready...He then asked if he could lead TWO songs...what else could I say??

It finally came time, and he jumped up, walked confidently to the podium...I couldn't hardly look at him...the only thing I saw was his hair and chin...he kinda looked like Cousin It...

He calmly and loudly announced the song, waitied a few seconds, then started...After the first song, he announced the 2nd song...After realizing he gave the wrong page #, he said oops, I mean page #...

After finishing, he came back down with one of the biggest smiles I've seen on his face...

It truly was a proud moment.
txwhittlecThat is great! Wish we could have been here to see him and sing under his direction! So happy for you guys and proud of Micah! :)
callmehandsThat's great - I wish we could've been there for that. I'm sure Micah will be a great songleader.
