Well, I was tired of that post, so I thought I'd update a little. Lots of nothing going on here, if you know what I mean. Seems like we run and run, getting things accomplished, but nothing you can really put your finger on. Know what I mean? Both of the older boys are in soccer, so that has kept us busy. Tim is coaching Todd's team, and they are both enjoying that. Not sure if we will do it next year... this league is frustrating us.
School is going well for Douglas. His 1st grade teacher, Mr. Smith, decided to enter his class in a video contest. If they win, they get $25,000 worth of technology upgrades! His class placed fourth last year, so I think he has a shot. He wrote a parody to the song "Whip It" by Devo. The video is going to be hilarious. Instead of singing, "Whip it good!" they say, "Click it good!" It's about technology and how their classroom needs it. There is a point in the contest where the public has to vote for their favorite video, so I will definitely post it for your viewing pleasure, and so you can vote. =-) As homeroom mom, I helped quite a bit with costumes and props. I got to video the parts where Mr. Smith is in it, and I even have my hands in one part! Very exciting!! I can't wait to see the finished product. Anyway....
Well, that's enough for now. We just finished a four day meeting with Todd Chandler. For those of you who know Todd and have heard him speak, you know we had a great feast. He is such a good man, and even though he didn't bring his family with him, we still had a great time. (Maybe I'll post pictures of him horseback riding...) We had a great time with him.
Have a great week, everyone!!

Tim and I went up to Douglas' school for a meeting the other night. In the hallway, the teachers post different things the kids are doing. Mr. Smith's class (Douglas' class) had drawn ways we can show respect. Most of the kids had drawn pictures of themselves showing respect in some way... obeying their mom, feeding the dog, not hitting a kid on the playground... but Douglas had quoted Colossians 3:9-10, "Do not lie to one another, since you have put off the old man with his deeds, and have put on the new man in baptism." It isn't an exact quote at the end, but I was SO PROUD of him!!! He knows that verse because he has to read it when he lies about something at home. But to make the connection for his assignment in 1st grade was pretty impressive to me. He is already letting his little light shine! So sweet! (It's also funny that he didn't want to draw a picture like the other kids. Just a quote from the Bible will do.) |

Well, I am leaving in a few minutes to go to a scrapbooking retreat. I go about twice a year to a cabin in the woods with several other ladies, and we hole up there for three days and two nights to scrapbook. In reality, I like getting away from my children for a few days, sleeping in my own bed without interruption from small boys, and getting some rest. The scrapbooking is just an excuse. =-)
So, I hope you all have a great, productive weekend. "See you" on Sunday!! |

Mom and Dad just left, and I'm already depressed. I hate it when they leave, even when they have been here for awhile. Garrett is currently throwing a fit while saying, "Nana... Pa D" and refused to tell them "bye-bye", because he didn't want them to go. I feel him. =-) |

Well, seems like everything is fine in the great town of Abita Springs, LA where my mom and dad reside. They don't have power quite yet, but there is no damage to their house or property. Dad flew in today, and they plan on returning home on Monday. They have a generator.
In other news, I have to say that I really like Sarah Palin. I watched her speech the other night, and I'm impressed with her "tell-it-like-it-is" bluntness. I get tired of the same ol' blabbing of most politicians; it was quite refreshing. I especially liked the part when Piper (her youngest daughter) licked the full length of her palm to straighten the baby's hair. HILARIOUS! It was actually very sweet. =-)
Well, here's to a great weekend!! |
