Today I am wondering where the time has gone. Am I seriously in college? Out on my own?? Making the everyday decisions that will affect the rest of my life? It doesn't seem possible yet.
My one week of 'freedom' has been pretty nice. I've met too many people to remember and have too many reasons to smile.
I'm not yet sure which part of the day is my favorite. For some reason I enjoy waking up to start my day. I wake up to a brand new day, still devoid of mistakes and drama and any other bad thing. I love pulling back our yellow curtains and seeing the beautiful Florida sunshine. I like listening to my favorite songs off my ipod as I get ready. Mornings are truly a gift from God and I find it ironic that I'm finally realizing this in college.
God has blessed me and blessed me. I can't say it enough times and I can't stop reminding myself of it. I often forget what truly matters. I often forget certain vows I made to myself and why I made them. I hope I can be more diligent in the future to remember them.
I love my classes. Philosophy is challenging me in new ways and I love it. Sociology is no longer a boring subject with such a great teacher. Western Civ. is my favorite class. Dr. Crispell has an endless amount of knowledge of history. I could listen to him for hours, which kinda makes having to take notes difficult. I just want to listen! Old Testement Bible is also a great class. The same thing goes for Mr. Peeler as Dr. Crispell. :) I can't wait to learn more about the O.T. I haven't studied it as much as the New Testement.
Tomorrow I sortof begin Private piano lessons although they won't actually start until next week.
I'm hoping to get into yearbook as well. That should be a lot of fun :)
Still striving for the goal
love,
Sarah |

Well I made it here! My roommate and I are pretty much settled in our dorm and everything has been going great :) I've meet SO many people I don't think I remember half of them. But there's time :)

10:15am - Chapel!
11am - History & Geography of O.T. (Mr. Peeler)

Private Piano
Stage production lab with Mr. Moore
12 hours classes + 3 hours electives = 15 hours
I think my plan right now is to transfer to Western KY (or as they call it down here, KFC for 'Kentucky Florida College') for nursing. Hopefully I'll be able to get a lot of pre-reqs taken care of down here. I'll proabably have a better chance of doing that if I go to Western. But that plan is always subject to change. Sometimes you can over-plan these things ;)
I really like it down here! Everyone is very nice and welcomeing. It's going to be a great school year!
The hurricane missed us, thankfully! It's just been raining everyday off and on which has made it nice and cool. Well.. cool for Florida :P
I know I won't be getting on the computer much anymore (except to write papers..) since mostly all my friends are here with me :) So everyone have a great school year!
Always keep Christ first :)
love,
Sarah |

And when (she) is old,
(she) will not depart from it.
Boxes full of stuff take up all the space in the right corner of my room. Two suitcases full of clothes take up the majority of space left on my floor. A hamper and laundry basket (also full of stuff) stand behind the bedroom door allowing me to open it only half-way.
And in two short days all of this will (by some miracle) be piled into our mini-van and driven to Temple Terrace, FL.
God has shown His undying mercy and grace to me throughout my life in so many ways. I am thankful to Him for everything although I often fail to show my thankfulness. I would not be sitting here right now in the same situation I am in right now if it were not for Jesus Christ.
God has blessed me with a loving, Christian family. My parents taught me what is wrong and what is right and always encouraged me to do the latter. Although I would sometimes rebel and find things out my own way, I look back on those mistakes and realize that simply listening to their wisdom and obeying it would have been the easier route. I still, however, have a lot to learn but I know now to go to my parents for their guidance and advice.
I can't express my thankfulness to them for taking me to church services and teaching me the gospel. I am not a Christian because they are or to please them; my parents converted me.
On Sunday evening my father preached a lesson about children in the Bible who have left home and what they did with their freedom. He read about the negative attitudes and examples of Cain and Esau and then the positive and encouraging examples of Isaac, Rebekah, Jacob, Joseph, Ruth, David, Solomon, Esther, Mary, Elizabeth and Timothy. There are many things we can learn and godly characteristics we can adopt from this list of young people who feared the Lord. I am learning more every day.
As I go out on my own, I plan on taking these lessons I've learned with me. I plan on carrying my Bible with me throughout life. I hope to encourage my brothers and sisters in their own walk of faith. I will remember who I am and why I am here.
Likewise you younger people,
submit yourselves to your elders.
Yes, all of your be submissive to
one another, and be clothed with humility, for
God resists the proud,
but gives grace to the humble.
Therefore humble yourselves under
the mighty hand of God,
that He may exalt you in due time,
casting all your care upon Him,
for He cares for you.
(1 Peter 5:5-7)
Please keep us in your prayers as we travel to Florida. Please keep me in your prayers as I remain there. Thank you.
Love,
Sarah Jane |
