Yesterday was a good day. I got to attend the wedding of two friends and celebrate my 24th birthday.
For my birthday, my awesome wife was able to find good deals on a couple of items that I liked when I saw them in the stores but was not about to fork over retail to have them. She really has a knack for picking perfect gifts for people.
We attended her wedding in Columbia last night. Congratulations to Steven & Sarah!
After the wedding, we drove by the house that is to be ours in four weeks and saw a subcontractor doing what appeared to be work for the kitchen cabinetry. It was the first time we had seen lights on in the house. It’s pretty cool to watch an empty lot go from grass to a nearly finished house!
The Lord has been very good to me. May I always offer Him the honor and thanks that He is due.
The person I really felt sorry for was the guy that was in charge of the party...and he had to do it w/o a costume. I'll have to say, I wouldn't enjoy that job very much.
OK, you know that if I'm posting, it must be about something truly pleo-worthy. And this most definitely is.
Last week, I asked Whitney to marry me. Thank you very much for saying yes! I love you. She tells the engagement story much better, so for details please ask her.
Since I’m posting, I thought I’d share the following with you.
This wonderful event led me to confirm that my spelling and usage of "fiancé" was correct. My inner nerd doesn’t like to use terms for which I have not verified their meanings, even if I’m pretty sure that I’m right. Well, I had used the term "fiancé" in writing in reference to Whitney, but I wanted to be sure that I was correct. I was dismayed to find out that by using the term "fiancé" I was implying that I was marrying a dude! Following is some really useful information to keep from sounding embarrassingly uncultured when writing to people who aren’t.
A fiancé is a man that is engaged to be married.
A fiancée is a woman that is engaged to be married.
So guys, the woman you plan to marry is your fiancée. Girls, the man you plan to marry is your fiancé. In case you’re wondering, the pronunciations are the same.
Whitney, thank you for agreeing to be my wife, thus making you my fiancée.
By the way, congratulations. I know when you all get married, you are going to move into the Franklin area and need to be part of a Franklin congregation, right?
That's neat that you preach from it. I don't think I know anyone else who does ...maybe Jady Copeland does. Anyway, I hear you and Whitney are teaching together. That'll be cool :) And, when the two of you are in Columbia, let me know. I'd love to see y'all!
None yet. Contract ends on October 24. So I'll have to find another realtor I guess. Saw in today's Tennessean that the housing market is down 25% in Nashville. Hard to be positive with articles like that.
