Ok, ok, I deserve some heat for not updating my blog for four months...but here goes...
I'm here in Milwaukee covering the McDonald's All American game. I've been here since Monday evening, and the worst part about being here is I miss my lovely wife and daughter. Other than that, it's been fun. The slam dunk contest was Monday night, and media day was yesterday. Tonight's the game, so if you're around the tube at 9:30, check out ESPN and you may see me sitting press row...
What's ironic about me being here is that my other two brothers are out of the state as well this week. Dan's in Alabama and Nathan's in Canada, both visiting women. Go ahead and add a punchline for them, especially for him.
True Opening Day is Monday, and I can't wait. Yeah, we had those two games in Japan earlier this week (who actually got up at 6 a.m. to watch them, besides Red Sox and A's fans?), but to me, those don't count. For baseball purists, real Opening Day begins in Cincinnati, where the league was born...
Is spring ever going to arrive? They're calling for 4-8 inches of snow tomorrow here, and if they get even three inches, Milwaukee will have eclipsed the 100-inch mark for the winter. Yikes. Prayers please, on my behalf, as I head home tomorrow morning will be appreciated...
Hope all is well with your loved ones and family...
Shoot me a line to let me know how you're doing...
it's beautiful here today, very spring-like. i hope it sticks around. And i'm TOTALLY ready for opening day!! dan told me how much tickets for standing room at cincy were and i about dropped my teeth. but i would still totally go :)
I got to go to the reds/phillys training game while i was in florida. It was actually pretty boring. I'm with you though, opening day starts with the reds!
Hey Bud! Sorry I didn't get over to really talk to ya! It appears miss rachel is officially sick! Bummer, huh? and have no fear, we will difinitely send words of . . ."encouragement" towards your dear middle brother!
i think i will come to the old hood sometime, it was my neighborhood for a while and my home congregation @ times too. i was telling my parents the last time i remember seeing you & heather was at john & lesley's wedding years ago. it would be good to see you & meet your little person!
...since I've posted, so I figured this was the perfect time to write after a fulfilling Turkey Day and Lord's Day yesterday.
Just some random thoughts heading into this week:
For all those clamoring for Ohio State to get into the national championship game, be careful what you wish for. Voters/talking heads don't want a repeat of what happened last year, so they will do everything in their power not to let OSU back into the title game. Yes, I'm an OSU fan, but as I take off my OSU blinders, do you really want OSU's defense to go up against WVU's spead offense or Missouri's run-and-shoot? We all know what happened last year with UF's C. Leak and T. Tebow. Wasn't pretty.
Kudos to the Reds for actually digging deep into their pockets and spending a little $$$. Now, if they could only get another starting pitcher, the Reds will be right back into the Central Division conversation come '08.
Eleven games into the NFL season, who would have thought the Browns would be the best team in Ohio? I sure didn't...but hat's off to the Brownies for being one of the biggest surprises of the season. As long as R. Crennel doesn't cave in to the pressure of a playoff hunt, they should grab a wild-card berth. As for the Bengals, well, that's another story...
Finally, our little Alexis turns 2 in a little more than a month (Jan. 4, to be exact). We've already done some Christmas shopping (for her, of course), as Little Einsteins are her favorite — books, dolls, movies, etc.
So, question: What do you want to receive this holiday season? Or better yet, what do you expect to get your children/young relatives, with the true joy seeing their smiling faces?
Thanks. I'm feeling better. Wish you and Nicole could have been here Saturday. Maybe next time Abby and Ryan will give a little more notice and you can come.
Right now I have no clue what to get anybody -- young or old. It gets harder and harder to give gifts the older the children get. I think I'm just hoping we'll all be healthy.
Today when I was making a grocery list Natalie told me to write Lucky Charms ( the cereal) on it. We don't buy sugary cereals like that- so I am seriously thinking of getting her a box and wrapping it up for under the tree. I like to keep it simple :)
Yep, it is the same guy. He is coming and I think Tommy was going to email your brother to let him know. We were not advertising it to other congregations because of the nature of the singing presentation he does. But Tommy knew that Daniel wanted to know. As far as the Christmas thing all JT talks about is this huge set of orange tools at the new Target. He is getting those from the big guy who goes HO HO! I can not wait to see him play with them!
Just a quick question before I head off to my game.
I've gotten hooked on the 24 reruns on the A&E channel in the afternoons when I'm home during the day. I saw the promo for the new season, which kicks off Jan. 13 with a two-hour premiere. I've seen bits and pieces of the previous six seasons.
My question: How important is it to catch up on all the action? Have a full understanding of what's going on, before sitting down and watching Season 7 unfold???
He saves the world in 24 hours, his dad is actually a bad guy, and you missed a horrible attempt at a romantic interlude. Don't worry you'll be fine :o)... Good to see you by the way.
Thanks Steven, we are very well. Katie seems to have hit a 3.5 hour mode in the evening, so we are both getting better sleep. Rach wasn't feeling well last week, SOOOO since Ange gets up with the babe, I get the toddler. everyone is better now though.
