I watched Barack Obama win the Presidential election tonight.
I really just wanted to remind all of my good friends of a couple of things we can remember and keep in the back of our minds.
Psalm 57:2-7
2 “When I choose the proper time,
I will judge uprightly.
3 The earth and all its inhabitants are dissolved;
I set up its pillars firmly.
4 “I said to the boastful, ‘Do not deal boastfully,’
And to the wicked, ‘Do not lift up the horn.
5 Do not lift up your horn on high;
Do not speak with a stiff neck.’”
6 For exaltation comes neither from the east
Nor from the west nor from the south.
Romans 13:1
1 Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God.
7 But God is the Judge:
He puts down one,
And exalts another.
Daniel 2:20-21
20 Daniel answered and said:
“ Blessed be the name of God forever and ever,
For wisdom and might are His.
21 And He changes the times and the seasons;
He removes kings and raises up kings;
He gives wisdom to the wise
And knowledge to those who have understanding.
Hello Everybody! Super long time since the last post, I know, but I've been a little busy as of late.
Myah and I were married, for those who don't know already. The wedding went really well, no undue awkwardness and an interesting honeymoon story. No, we do not have pictures yet, the photographer apparently takes awhile to get the prints back.
So, the honeymoon. After spending two nights in Indy, we went to catch our flight to Chicago, and then from there Maui. Ironically, there was a tornado watch active in Chicago (stupid Windy City) and we sat in the plane on the runway in Indy for two hours. Needless to say, we missed our connecting flight. Oh, and thanks to United Airlines, we missed being rescheduled for another flight leaving an hour later because we had to stand 3+ hours in line at Customer Service. Heartbroken and fed up, we stayed the night in Chicago, made a failed attempt to catch a Stand-by flight the next morning, rented a car and drove back to Indy. No Hawaii Trip. Boo.
We did make the best of things, however. Next day we drove up to Cleveland to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (which I very highly recommend for anyone). Next day, we went to Cedar Point, which is the most amazing place on Earth for roller coasters. We had an amazing time just road-tripping thru Ohio. Upon refund of our trip money, we will attempt Hawaii later, perhaps near Christmas.
The new apartment is nice, 2 bdrm 1.5 bath townhouse in Bowling Green. Couple more semesters of Western and hopefully I will graduate! Myah graduated in May, so it makes working a little easier on the both of us as far as finances go. I honestly love the fact that we're finally married. We get along great, working together and just staying relaxed about things. I've put on at least 5 lbs., she's a pretty good cook :)
I will be on pleonast more often, now that school is getting back in session and I'll need more excuses to not do work. I miss all of you in Florida, and I do plan on moving back down when I graduate. If I do, I really don't want to move a washer and dryer set down a flight of stairs by myself. Again. (Ask Myah about that one) Love you all
That totally stinks! Well, you should come have your honeymoon in Florida and come visit some of your old friends. You can look at my Hawaii scrapbook and pretend you're there. :)
I just rocked and rolled all night. No, literally. I turned on Pandora (wonderful customizable internet radio), kept picking classic rock from the last 3 decades, and worked on my MASSIVE education project. Yes, I did get it done, I'm just gonna play Call of Duty 4 for the next hour and a half, till time to "get up". hehe.
Why not sleep? I tried sleeping three hours before waking up. My body refused to wake up in time, causing me to be horribly late to my 8:00 class. Today ought to be fun :) I'll hit the computer lab at school at 6:30, Einstein's Bagels at 7:00, and be good to go.
I'm heading down to West FL for a weekend lectureship I'm speaking at, in case anyone else knows where Oak Grove, FL is. Passover weekend too, i'm so tempted to wear my yamaka (sp?)
If I had one single regret, it would be that I have not treated everyone in my life as well as they deserve.
This fact was recently revealed to me as I considered people that I really do not keep up with as well as I should. The vast majority of these are due to the natural progression of life: you just lose contact with some people, and we all do it.
The other instance of losing a contact (and more importantly, a close friend) is sadly due to something I did. Because I violated a trust between the two of us, this person hasn't spoken to me in close to a year. Forgiven, perhaps, but the wound still hurts.
I want very badly to talk to this person, to apologize and say whatever words are necessary just to be able to talk to this person again. It is remarkable (and agonizing) how painful silence can be on one's conscience. We are used to people running the mouth and spewing all sorts of verbal garbage. Silence is not only golden, but oppressive. It would be nice to just have one chance, just one conversation.
Do I deserve this? Probably, yes I do. That does not mean I wish it would continue.
I understand.Life is about learning and growing though.We all make mistakes in our lives too.If we have learned something from it, I don't see it as regretable.Hope all is well, bud!
I plan to be in town sometime Friday, probably really late, depends on what classes I can sneak out of. For the weekend, I'll be in the Bell/Trenton area, and during the first couple days of the week I hope to be observing a H.S. classroom (for a ed. class here) but my afternoons are in large part pretty open right now. I'll be spending lots of time w/ Dad but I'm open to whatever.
I do plan to spend at least one day in Tampa, not sure which day yet but I'll figure that out later.
I cannot wait for a few things when I get there:
1. Sunny, above-freezing days.
2. Akins/Sonny's/(REAL Seafood)
3. People breaking the speed limit.
4. No Classes/Work
5. Family/Friends
Q: For those of you Florida natives who have ever left the state for a period of time, what did you miss the most?
what do I miss the most? definitely the temperature. a lot of other places don't have such a mild temp. such as georgis. Augusta georgia that is. more humidity and less breeze.
