10 wonderful years 10-24-08 09:52am EST
Today I am celebrating 10 years of marriage with my wonderful husband. God has blessed us richly with eachother and our three beautiful children. I can say with all honesty that I love John more today than I ever thought possible when we exchanged our vows ten years ago. My respect for him continues to grow daily, as I watch him work so hard for the cause of Christ. He is a loving husband and a wonderful daddy, and I am so blessed that he chose to share his life with me. As the clock approached 12am this morning, we talked about what we were doing at that moment ten years ago. He said he was sleeping and I was too nervous to sleep, thinking about tripping over my dress during the wedding ceremony. We both laughed because we knew that at that moment ten years ago we never would have imagined that we would spend the night before our 10th anniversary cleaning up after a sick kiddo (Julianna has a stomach virus). How lives and marriages change throughout the years!! :-) But for what it's worth, there is noone I would rather have by my side helping me clean up throw-up in the middle of the night!! Happy Anniversary babe, I love you.
bubbysprincess12Congrats! We're coming up on our 10th anniversary on January 1st. Yeah-anniversaries are quite different now than they were before kids-me like you, wouldn't change it for anything.

Lots to pray for 10-22-08 09:54am EST
I haven't updated in a while, so I thought I would do a quick one. I know there are so many people out there right now that need our prayers, Kelsey Harris, Nathan Ing, Stacy King, just to name a few. I sometimes find myself feeling a little overwhelmed by all the people who are suffering right now and need our prayers. I also struggle with feelings of guilt that my family and I are healthy. Does anyone else struggle with this?? It is so easy to put myself in the place of a mother worrying about her sick child or a sick mommy worrying about taking care of her babies. I guess I need to not think so much about the suffering, but instead focus on what a wonderful example all these people have been. It is so encouraging to me that when faced with such struggles, people can take refuge in the Lord and lift others up. What an example!! Please continue to pray for those who are going through hard times right now and remember to thank God for all our blessings.

"Be strong and take heart, all you who hope in the Lord."
Psalm 31:24
sweetgirl_103Thanks Mrs. Stacy, I love you too!
bubbysprincess12Totally makes me feel guilty as well-I'm right there with you for sure.

Okay...here are 8 random facts about me! :-) 09-30-08 06:44pm EST
1. I love, love, love shoes, purses, jewelry, makeup..pretty much anything that goes along with being a girl. I am as far from a "tom-boy" as one person could possibly get.

2. I must start every morning with a hot cup of coffee. If I don't, the day does not go well. :-)

3. I threw shot-put in highschool and I wasn't too bad.

4. I got married when I was 18, six days shy of my 19th birthday. Yep, I was pretty young, but have never regretted it.

5. I am addicted to Fox News. Gotta watch it every day, at least for a few minutes.

6. I love current event, politics, etc. ^^See above...

7. I am at my happiest when I'm really, really busy.

8. My southern in-laws have always teased me about being a Yankee. I never knew I was a Yankee, just thought I was a Hoosier!!??
sweetgirl_103I loved reading your list! I didn't know you got married at 18 or loved watching Fox news!!
ambiguous_usernameDon't number 1 and 3 kinda contradict each other? I don't know, it's just hard picturing someone throwing shot-put while wearing nice shoes and a purse :-P
ambiguous_usernameIn any case, I'm impressed!
flowerpowerTrue Hoosier! I didn't know you were only 18! Wow!
stacygYou're right Kyle, 1 and 3 do sort of contradict each other. To help put things in perspective...my throwing shoes (have to wear special shoes in the shot-put ring) were neon pink and purple!! :-)
walrus_luverhey stacy!! i don't know how long ago you requested to add me on here but i haven't been on here in forever so sorry if its been a while. but yea now i can keep in touch with you all better. hope all is well. ill see ya soon.

Just when you think life couldn't get crazier... 09-22-08 10:46pm EST
Well...our lights came back on Thursday and it looked like once again things were returning to normal. Until Friday...Our oldest daughter, Sarah woke up with a tummy ache. Didn't really think much about it. I gave her some tylenol and she went back to bed for a couple of hours. When she got up, she immediately said she was feeling much better. She had a birthday party at Build-A-Bear to go to that night, so she was not going to miss that. About an hour later, she was crying saying her tummy hurt, especially on her right side. I logged on to the internet and googled "appendicitis." It pretty much said no worries, unless there was a fever, which there wasn't. The day went on and by 3:30 she was running a fever. For whatever reason (God's providence) I decided she needed to go to the Dr. I called her pediatrician and they said to bring her in right then. When we got there they did a blood test and her white cell blood count was 18,000!!! Normal count is 4500. YIKES!!!!! The pediatrician immediately knew it was probably appendicitis. She sent us directly to the hospital where a surgeon was waiting for us. Within an hour Sarah was in surgery having her appendix taken out. Thankfully it hadn't ruptured, but her abdomen was already full of infection. After 24 hours in the hospital, she got to came home and is now on her way to recovery. For a six year old she did amazing. She was very brave and mature through the whole ordeal. She made us so proud. :-) Please remember her in your prayers as she heals.
eehiabehiaMom told me today that all this was going on and that her biggest concern was missing the meeting. What a sweetheart.
saricbradleyhmmm, something must be in the air! Glad Sarah is doing better and you are such an attentive mother to read her signs. Isabel had to go to the ER tonight, she was eating mulch outside and Eric felt something in her throat and then her breathing started getting very light. Never found anything, x-rays showed nothing, so I guess she swallowed it doing just fine now! :)
homeschoolmomma23Poor little thing. We're glad she is doing well.
flowerpowerSmart momma to get her into the hospital! Tell her to get well soon for us. :)
flowerpowerAw, thanks! :) You make me smile, too. Especially when you named your first born after me. HAHA LOL Just kidding!

In the dark 09-15-08 08:20pm EST
What an interesting 24 hours it has been in Southern Indiana. On Friday evening we were blessed with the opportunity to have David Maravilla come to Galena for a weekend meeting. Those of you who may know of him, know that he has an amazing ability to explain how we can improve our worship. Friday and Saturday were wonderful, edifying and encouraging. Sunday morning was equally as edifying. As Sunday morning worship began to draw to a close, the wind began picking up. By the time we left the building, a tree was across our main highway, so we had to take a detour to get to the restaurant we were eating at. We were enjoying our meal when the lights began to flash on and off. They eventually flashed off and stayed that way. We finished up and started on our way home. What should have been a ten minute drive to our house took about 50 minutes. We had to turn around several times dodging down trees and powered lines. The wind was practically blowing our van off the road. By the time we finally got to our driveway, we were so relieved, until we pulled up into the driveway...The first thing we saw or didn't see was David's van. It was buried under a fallen pine tree. There were limbs and debris everywhere and my beautiful Bradford Pear tree in the back yard had been split in two. :-( We then realized that the power was off and we had no way to get into the house, we always go in through the garage door which uses electricity to open. Unfortunately, we don't carry a key to the door to get, bad plan. Next thing I know, John kicks the side door in!!! AHHHH!!!!! After a few hours of sitting in our un-electrified house :-) David and John decided to began cutting David's van out. They worked for a couple hours and finally got it out. The damage was not as severe as we had originally thought. The windshield was busted in and the roof was dented. After some discussion, we realized nothing was going to be done to repair David's van until the morning. After twiddling our thumbs for a few hours, we decided we would go for a drive and survey the damage. The devastation was overwhelming. We didn't pass a house that didn't have downed trees or roof damage. It is unbelievable!!!!!! It is now Monday evening. David was finally able to get his van repaired and is now on his way back home to Missouri. We are still without electricity and they say we will only have water for a little big longer. We plan to spend the night with friends from church who have electricity and water. We were able to eat a warm supper and take hot showere!!!! :-) We have a lot of cleanup ahead of us, but we have experienced nothing like those on the coast. Please pray for everyone who has been affected in some way or another by Hurricane Ike.
ambiguous_usernameYeah, we had about 5-6 trees down on our driveway. Out of power too, of course. We're at the Barker's right now though. They say it may be as much as a week before our power is back. I certainly hope they're wrong!
p_atrickStacy I recieved the card from the brethren in Galena and I wanted to say (and pass this on to all) that it so deeply touched my heart and my love in the Lord for you all is so great. I love the brethren in Galena so much and thank you for being what you are!
