Snow 12-02-08 04:50pm EST

The kids are having fun in the snow. Aaron doesn't care much for it so he's inside working on his Tae Kwon Do essay. He tests for his blue belt on the 13th. Bart has his first basketball game on Sat.

We had a great Thanksgiving with Rick's parents. On Friday after Thanksgiving, we took the kids to Fairoaks Dairy Farm and the Indiana Dunes.

At Fairoaks we got to see calves being born and got to tour the milking facility. I thought it was fascinating but Rick was bored. For lunch we had grilled cheese from cheese that they make. Yummy!

We could see Chicago from across the lake and the kids were amazed at the size of Lake Michigan and the size of the Dunes. Bart could have stayed there all day playing in the sand and climbing the Dunes.

We've been to Fairoaks Dairy Farm. We got lucky and saw 3 calves born. We enjoyed the tour.

We got a dusting of snow last night, it disappeared earlier today.

I would have been fascinated by all of that too! How neat that you could see Chicago from that direction... that must have been neat too!

Cookies 11-21-08 02:39pm EST

I've been baking cookies for the past two hours. My knee is swollen and my ankles hurt. I always have 2 little helpers that try to squeeze their way into my workspace. All the kids come running as soon as they hear the electric mixer. They know that yummy cookie dough is awaiting them.

We have been baking cookies for Thanksgiving baskets that some women from our congregation fill up and give to the elderly or those who have had a recent loss. Also, we are making them for a 4-H cookie exchange. I don't think I want to see another cookie again.

We've attempted minimal school today. We still have yard work to complete this weekend. I'm also cleaning out closets and drawers. Rick needs to install closet organizers in the girl's and boy's rooms. He has a whole week off work and we are traveling to Lafayette on Tues and then heading to Rick's parents on Thursday. We plan to be back on Sat. Hopefully we can get all our work done before we leave.

Have a great Thanksgiving.

I talked to Toni today. She seemed ok.

She is still waiting on the testing. They say they are going to deliver a month early, which would be early March. If she delivers in Philly as she thinks she will, then I will go out and be with her. Probably taking care of her daughter.

I haven't done much baking yet but I need to.

Dan is in the process of making a cabinet for our girl's room. They only have a very small closet that is only about 4 feet tall at it's highest point. The closet follows the roof line so it gets shorter and shorter. The cabinet will give them much more closet space and room for other things as well. I can hardly wait until Dan gets the cabinet done.

I have also been sorting out and cleaning out the girl's dressers. They tend to not only mess them up, but they also put things in them that don't belong. I have completed about 1/2 of that job.

Yum, cookies. Judy picked up my mints for the baskets today. I just wanted to stay home with Sean. He took yesterday off and the kids and I are loving him being home. I told the boys that if they did school on Fri (even though daddy was home) we would take all next week off. Do you guys want to go see Bolt today? Call me.

nillabarr

Yummmmm....cookies! Wish I could have made it today. But I had so much to do and I know they had enough helpers. Hope it was fun!

Rock songs 11-14-08 06:22pm EST

Okay, my boys really love to rock. Can you tell me some of your favorite, upbeat, clean, songs. I can tell you all about talk radio but I'm kind of ignorant when it comes to rock and I don't really listen to the radio unless it's classical or talk. Sometimes they need to relieve stress so we listen to upbeat songs and they can go crazy in the living room. They like Life is a Highway, Trans-Siberian Orchestra Canon Rock, and one of our favorites on you tube: The Picard Song. Suggestions please........

blessings_of_a_mom

My kids like Bon Jovi. They listen to a lot of 80s music, as that is what Stephen and I like.

countrymom

We like to listen to Elvis when we clean. Also, it isn't rock, but my boys really like Gene Autry.

keithsluv

Brown-eyed Girl is a classic, and clean. Alot of olderrock is OK..like 50s and early 60s.As far as contemporary, search radio disney..there's a station in Indianpolis we listen to when traveling. Still have to be discriminating, though, unfortunately. Wasso good to see you& family..sorry we never seem to get to hang out. Maybe at the ladies' getaway in Spring.

Really miss my husband 11-13-08 08:28pm EST

He's been gone for 5 days now. He will be home in 2 days. The kids and I have been getting along fine, except I really miss him.

nillabarr

I am so sure you do! :( We should have had a play date this week!

redtop

I can imagine! Hang in there, and just think how fun it will be when he gets home! :)

tanja

I think the last few days of waiting are the hardest. When Rick gets home maybe he will give you a break.:)

armywife

It's always hard when they are away. No matter how often they leave, it's still hard. I know that far too well!

stitchinmom

I know you miss him. :( Is this his last trip for awhile?

Rick made it to Brazil safely. Now only six more days to go before he returns home to us.

tanja

We are thankful to God for Rick's safe travels.
