Christmas 12-25-08 01:51pm EST
Well I'm sitting here at Mimi's house in San Marcos thinking about how great this Christmas was. Not because of the things I got even though I was pretty suprised about some things. But because I got to come early and hang out with my Mimi and spend all day Tuesday cooking and baking with her in the kitchen. By the end of the day I had turned into the chef and she was my sous chef. We made an Italian Cream cake, a chocolate pie with a cookie crust (my fav), Special K balls, a turkey, a ham, dressing, corn casserole, tea, and probably a couple more things. Oh yeah and the day before we made a killer peanut butter pie. The we had our Christmas last night and I got my new purse that I knew I was getting, and some more perfume, and 3 new games for my playstation 2, and the big suprise was a printed out reciept of something bought online and it said Wii sport pack. I couldn't believe it. My mom and Papa had been going around town yesterday looking for one and had no luck, but they did find one online. I thought it was kinda funny because I just got all these new games for my playstation and now I need different games. The Wii was a last minute thing and I think I will return a couple of my new games for the Wii version of them. While I was here I also got to spend some time with Kia and go see our semi-annual movie. It was tons of fun. I think that about covers everything so far. After lunch mom and dad and I will go back to College Station to have our Christmas and then I'm headed all the way home to repack and leave tomorrow for skiing!!! YAY!!! I can't wait for dad to open his present from mom and I. I'll make him post pictures later. Well it's time to get stuff ready for lunch so I gotta go.

Later Days~

bigdeborahGlad u had fun with the fam!
cmdlYay! We had a lot of fun over here too. I love spending time with my Grammie. And it's cute that Grammie and Mimi know each other, and go to the same church. Hehe. I love how our "otherside" family has connections too. I can't WAIT to come to your house after the trip!

I've been staying away from the sick-o's around here. I'm so excited! Love you! Have fun on your trip. :)

P.s. I got this super cute zebra purse from Aldo. Hehe. And it makes me happy that you like purses now.
a_shipleySounds fun! Merry xmas! How long yall in CO for
agdad23I got my Aggie Plates changed over to my truck yesterday when we got back and they are on the truck now. Also I got your vest exchanged and will bring it to WC. You and Kia be careful and we will see y'all Friday.
cmdlWell, I'm going to party like a rockstar, but you're being boring. Jk. Hehe. You're reading this as I type it. Lets go to Starbucks today!!!

12-19-08 11:10pm EST
School's out for the holidays!!!! Today I had to give two finals. I brought breakfast to my first class since it was so early. (I'm such a nice teacher). All my grades and parent contacts are done so the only thing I have to do over the break is finalize the 4th 6 weeks calendar and fix some notes. Now I get to start my holiday travels. Going to San Marcos Monday to help my Mimi start cooking for Christmas (and to see Kia for our semi-annual movie date) then coming to CS on Christmas Day for Christmas with my parents. Then maybe coming to my home that night to hang out with the cats. Then the next day leaving for Colorado to go skiing!!! YAY!!! Then by the time I get back from that I will have a week till school starts again. Boooo! So the best part about today was that I finally got real blinds in my house!!!!! I've been in my house almost 2 1/2 years and have had paper blinds. It's different now, but I think I'm gonna like it. Well Jenni just got here so I'm gonna go hang out with her and then go to bed soon hopefully.

Later Days~

cmdlHaha. Nice! You finally got them. I think you forgot someone special on your schedule!
tjmeadowsIt is so good to hear from you. I am tired just reading your schedule. You are a good teacher. I was never served breakfast by any of my teachers. If you get a chance, call me when you are here. It would make my holiday so much brighter to talk to you. Be safe and I hope all of you have a great trip. Love you.

Jury Duty 10-25-08 03:36pm EST
Wow what a week!!! Tuesday I had jury duty so I went, happy to have a day off from school. Alot of people complain about having jury duty and yes it is a pain sometimes, but you have to think about it this way...It is our right to have a fair and unbiased trial by jury, what if one day you needed a jury? Wouldn't you want people to be there? Wouldn't you think that it is their civil duty to show up? Would you want 12 people who were just there and didn't care, just wanted to hurry up and get it done so they could get back to their lives? I know most of us won't ever have to have a trial by jury, but if some weird thing happened I would want 12 people who did their job correctly. So on Tuesday I went to the assembly room and out of about 440 people I was in the first group of 70 who left to go to a case to get chosen. Then from those 70 they chose 12 people to be on the jury. They ask all kinds of questions to narrow it down, but usually pick the first 12 people they can. I was number 40 and the lady next to me was like I don't think we have anything to worry about, we are pretty far back. So anyways they tell us that this case is about an aggravated sexual assualt of a child (so under the age of 14) and with these types of cases there are soo many people who have known someone close to them who has been assualted or accused or something and they are affected so much that it is not possible for them to make an unbiased decision. So alot of people are cut out and they go back pretty far in the numbers. So I was the 8th juror picked. Now they told us for the morning group there was 5 courts schdeuled that day. On Wednesday we found out we were the only case that ended up needing a jury. So on tuesday over 350 people got to go home by noon. So out of 440 people I was 1 of 12 that actually served on a jury and this was my first time to go. How crazy is that?? So yeah it was a crazy experience and very mentally tough and emotionally tough. We started the trial on Wednesday knowing we would be there at least until Thursday and eventually had to come in Friday as well. By Thursday all the witness had testified so Friday all we had to do was hear closing arguments and make a decision. Easy enough right? I left the courthouse Friday night at 11pm!! But we stuck it out and finished that night and every decision had to be unamious, so that is why it took so long. So that is how my week has been and I am allowed to talk about it so if you want to know just call, but I have already typed my longest post ever!! Now I get to go back to school Monday to a group of kids who are going to pout and whine because I was out all last week and they had to take a test Friday. That's a whole other story because I am very unhappy with some of my students right now. But I will worry about that on Monday. For now I will just wait for my check to come in the mail for my good job this week ($40 per day) :)

Later Days~

cmdlThat's funny. I have a Forensic Psychology class, and reading your post made me feel like I was in class. LOL! But you're right.
agdad23Hope you got some rest today. I know you had a rough week. The people in front of us have already sold their extra tickets for the Colorado game.
cmdlYeah, that would be pretty cool! Oh guess what? I'm going to be a substitute. Hehe. I forgot to tell you. I have orientation next month. Everyone keeps telling me not to put HS down, but I think I'm going to do all grades.

It should be interesting! :)
a_shipleyWow. I kinda want to be on a jury. Ill have to get the story from u sometime!
tjmeadowsGood for you for doing your duty! Have a good week. Love you.

I can't believe I'm actually doing this, but here it is :

-When I was little I used to wear two different shoes and my mom let me. She said I needed to be able to express myself

-When I grow up I want to be a shamu trainer, wait I mean a storm chaser.

-I love true story movies, especially sports ones.

-I am scared of the dark and turn on all the lights as I walk through the house. When I first moved into my own house I would check all the rooms and closets every time I came home, even though my alarm was obviously not tripped.

-When I went off to college I told my mom that I would NEVER major in math and that I would NEVER take anything above Calculus 1 and then during my junior year I called her and asked her if I could change my major to math.

-My first year of teaching I ate one of those $1 frozen dinner things, a dr. pepper and a little Debbie brownie every day for lunch…. And I lost weight.

-I don’t like change. If I do something out of order in the mornings when I get ready I feel weird the rest of the day. When I go out to eat I almost always order the same thing because I just can’t get something different.

-I like to act gooberish around my students and pretend like I don’t know about anything cool these days. And I actually don’t care if they think I am weird or dorky because I am a teacher so they are supposed to think I am dorky.

So thinking about my last post, the Thursday before we got out for the hurricane my students had a homework assignment. I knew that they would all wait until the last minute to do it and not get it in on time. Since this was the last week of the 6 weeks I was trying to tell them about the homework from that Thursday that I would still accept for full credit. And Since we had been out for so long it was hard to describe when this homework had been assigned so I started calling it the hurricane homework. LOL Some of the kids actually wrote hurricane homework on their paper. How fun is that? Anyways I gotta get going. I am finally getting caught up on One Tree Hill. My friend has it DVRed so I am heading over there for some good times.

bigdeborahI don't like coming into a house by myself either....BUT I do trust the alarm if it hasn't been tripped...you're too funny!
cmdlHaha. That's funny. Yay for Hurrican Homework!!! And YAY FOR CATCHING UP ON ONE TREE HILL! FINALLY!
a_shipleyoh yah, i will one day! :) but its gonna have to be a pretty small fourwheeler for my car to pull it lol
jm36#4 - I can relate - use to do that all the time - still would if I was alone!
jm36#5 - NEVER say never!
cmdlI am SO happy that they were inflexible. School shootings are so scary to me! I think you and I have talked about that before. Ahhh, chills.

Anyway, I hope OTH is new tonight. :)
cmdlP.s. One time my Mom said "NEVER say never" to something I seriously KNOW that I can say never too, and she kept saying it so I said, "Fine, I'm NEVER going to marry O'Bama! See, I CAN say never!" Hehe...
kernel^You're crazy.
cmdlLOL!
cmdlWell, I knew I for SURE would never marry him! Hehe.

Hurricane Ike 09-16-08 03:40pm EST
So I hunkered down and rode out the storm here with the cats. It was kinda scary listening to stuff hit my house, but I really wanted to go outside and see what it was like. (I want to be a storm chaser when I grow up). I really want to talk to the 11 people in galveston who rode out the storm in the Flagship Hotel, which is literally on the water. That would have been SCARY. Anyways I was lucky enough to not lose power during the storm, but I did lose cable, internet, phone. However, I did lose power Sunday morning during the T-storms that came through, but only for a couple hours. I woke up Saturday to shingles in my backyard, but they did not come from my house. I think it helped to be next to a two story house. I have been out of school since Friday and have just recently learned that we are not returning until Monday Sept. 22. They are still doing clean up and recovery stuff and think it is best for our safety. It's been nice being able to catch up on alot of work, but kind of dissapointing knowing that ALL the hard work I put into making the Algebra 2 1st six weeks calendar work is messed up now. Oh well I guess what I really should be worried about is how the kids are going to be when we finally come back. Yikes! Well that's my update I guess I'll get back to work. Hope everyone else has made it through the storm ok. If you are in the Houston area and need anything let me know. I have ice and food!!

littlebitty624wow, scary!! i'm glad you (and your cats) are ok though!
cmdlLol. You're not going to be a storm chaser silly! Glad you were okay though. :)
jekeshayglad you were okay!!!
coffee_girlWHAT?! Now you don't go back until Monday! Not gonna lie...I'm a little jealous. But I totally see the point of rowdy kids... blech.
tjmeadowsHi, it is good to hear from you. Our son, Les, also stayed through the storm. I think he is still without electricity. Glad you are o.k.
daisyheadlaceyK! Sounds good, I'm available and I can talk to Jenna and Jacob, and Bridget wednesday night about it and see what their plans are for the weekend!
a_shipleyglad you fared well! man stacey and gary still dont have power!
bigdeborahUgh...pictures? I thought those had all been destroyed! Haha. J/k. Those were good times!!
agdad23Where is the building on Amy's page with the light poles and steps?
daisyheadlaceyHey! I talked to the Campbell's and Bridget about the game, and Jacob is helping his sister move all day Saturday, so I don't think this is the best game for him. But Bridget and I don't have plans for the morning/early afternoon. What do you think?
cmdlTag, you're it! Go look at my post.
daisyheadlaceyOkay, so bad news. Turns out this may not be the best weekend for Bridget and I – We’ve got a surprise birthday party that got rescheduled for Saturday at 5, and driving all the way to katy and back to Pasadena by then would be tough. Let’s try to do it a weekend were all of us could be there! Sorry about this!
