In case y'all didn't know, the majority of my titles come from something I said or somebody else said. Today's title comes from "Secondhand Lions." I hadn't watched that movie until very recently (didn't even know it existed). Very awesome movie. I think that is a movie that I will have to buy someday.
And since all the cool kids are doing it, here are 8 things:
1.) I like making lists for the sole purpose of marking things off when I'm done with them. Sometimes I will have multiple lists for one week and will keep them all, checking things off as I go. For some reason it makes me feel like I've gotten more accomplished. (And when I'm done updating pleo, that's another thing to mark off the list! woo! :D)
2.) I get very involved in the movies I watch. I tend to talk a lot. I don't do this in movie theaters or when I'm by myself, but if there's someone else with me at home for some reason I just talk.
3.) I am deathly afraid of banquets, especially when they are honoring me in any way. It's not as bad when it's for other people, but it still creeps me out.
4.) I cannot talk about serious matters in front of more than 3 people. I try, but I just stumble over my words. I'm just fine talking one on one or with two people. Sometimes, on a good day I can deal with 3. But if I get past that, no matter what I say or practice ahead of time, I just mess up. Math is completely different for me though. Not sure why.
5.) I can't sleep if I know the blinds are open somewhere in the house. I feel like I'm being watched, even if I'm not sleeping in the same room as the open blinds.
6.) I like to doodle, especially if I get real depressed or stressed out. It's almost as if I just draw the bad emotion out of my body and then leave it on the paper. Though the doodle itself doesn't have to demonstrate depression or anxiety. It just relaxes my mind.
7.) I don't like sappy. Whether it's a movie or people talking or whatever. I thought this would change as I got older, but I still don't like it.
8.) I'm picky about my comics. I like quite a few web-comics (unfortunately there are plenty of crummy ones online as well so you have to kind of wade through them all to get to the good ones). I think there are a few good strips left in the newspaper, but for the most part I just look online.
So, Raymond has an interesting theory going on that I would like to share. Apparently there are two types of women in the world: those that like Orlando Bloom and those that like Sean Connery. (Y'all can probably guess which one I am, so I won't even say) So far I've only found two people that mess up that theory (namely my roommate who likes both and my mother who likes neither). So I'd like to test this theory out on y'all: Orlando Bloom or Sean Connery?
And here's a picture because you can't have a Susie post without a picture:
I rally like second had lions. When I first seen it a friend of mine asked it I would go to the movies with her. I said sure, no idea what we were going to see. I laughed so much! Come home and told Bruce he has to see this movie. I think we went the next day. Yes I did but it!
Sean Connery in almost everything; Orlando Bloom in LOTR (LOVE the ears!!!) but not particularly in anything else. Does that count? I'm also curious as if older women prefer Sean, and younger Orlando.
She has been up to the amazing task of THINKING about b=creating a new post.
Right now she is on this New POST FREE DIET where she is trying to quit posting.
Science has proven that which out posts fences are not created.
Please see entry below for pictures.
I thought I'd put a short little entry up so that I would not have to scroll all the way past my pictures to see comments.
So here's a joke that pokes fun at everyone:
Several scientists were all posed the following question: "What is 2 * 2 ?"
The engineer whips out his slide rule (so it's old) and shuffles it back and forth, and finally announces "3.99."
The physicist consults his technical references, sets up the problem on his computer, and announces "it lies between 3.98 and 4.02."
The mathematician cogitates for a while, then announces: "I don't know what the answer is, but I can tell you, an answer exists!"
Philosopher smiles: "But what do you mean by 2 * 2 ?"
Logician replies: "Please define 2 * 2 more precisely."
The sociologist: "I don't know, but it was nice talking about it."
Behavioral Ecologist: "A polygamous mating system."
Medical Student : "4"
All others looking astonished : "How did you know?"
Medical Student : "I memorized it."
Hahah, eel hair. : ) (And, I don't know what's going on in that picture, because I love Hamtaro). Thanks for explaining my math packet to me, with the help of Raymond and the internet!
ythe afternoon around 4pm my time would be a good time during the week, and any time after that. Weekends are usually pretty free as well, but Saturday is the singing and I have a job interview, so I'm only available in the morning and early afternoon before 3pm. All day Friday is good though, I don't have any classes on Friday so I'm home all day.
I had to go to summer school for most of June to get some of my education classes out of the way. Here are some nifty math posters I created.
After classes, I drove home, hopped on a plane, and flew to California to see my Aunt Susan.
Arshile
Lily
Riding in my aunt's car to the square where we shopped...
... and got frozen yogurt (mine had peanut butter cups in it :D).
We hung out in my aunt's awesome garden.
"The den"
Crystal ball gazing. :D And of course we had to go to the creek.
We watched 4th of July fireworks on top of my aunt's car.
We saw this in the bus on the way back to the airport. Sleep deprivation made this extremely amusing.
I also had my 21st birthday. I got so many calls and cards, so thank you! I really have been blessed with wonderful friends. I'm not sure how I got so lucky. :)
Near the end of July we went to San Antonio to see more family.
I love this picture. :D
We decided to play town while we were there. Apparently, because there was some confusion on the "rules" of town, some people had to run as mayor of the town.
The candidates:
Jesse. "Spoon Insurance!"
me
and Andy, the last minute candidate who left before we even started voting.
The paparazzi
And what would an election be without the exciting voters! (To be fair, the debates had gone on for a while!)
I became mayor with 4 votes (woo!). And finally we had a town.
Allie got the most money since she had the only restaurant.
Eventually I decided, as mayor, to open up a water park.
After being in San Antonio, I drove up to Lubbock, repacked my suitcase, and flew to Ohio.
Apparently one cannot just fly from Lubbock to Cleveland. We had to fly American Airlines to Dallas, hop on another plane to St. Louis, and then switch to Continental and fly to Cleveland. We weren't even allowed to have all of our boarding passes at first. In St. Louis we had to leave security to print up the rest of our boarding passes. (As a side note, apparently you can use an expired driver's license up to a year as an acceptable id at the airport.) It was exhausting but we finally made it.
in Dallas (I think this picture pretty much sums it up)
on the final flight
It was raining when we got there (much to his delight). Unfortunately, it was so bad that none of the planes had been able to take off, so no gates were open for us. Eventually they got a ladder so everyone could get off the plane.
Once we were off the plane, we drove to Medina and crashed.
This was waiting for us when we got there.
No dead armadillos!
While we were there Raymond helped install some lights.
(That's how Raymond gets his crazy hair... electricity! :D)
We went on tons of walks.
I also met the most awesome dog in the world.
:)
Raymond got a haircut.
I listened to some music.
We made baklava. Mmmmm...
And went to Nerts camp.
By the end of the week I was exhausted.
But I really had a lot of fun.
Then I came back to Lubbock.
I finally decided to recycle all of those cans I had been saving.
And yes, there were a ton. (I thought you'd appreciate this.)
Yay! Looks like a great summer! You did a much better jo of getting pictures up than I did! I still haven't gotten pics up from our trip! I will call you tomorrow! Sorry I couldn't talk the other day when you called! I MISS YOU!!!!
Well, I finished 4 of my 5 finals now so I'm taking a small break. Plus I think my brain died, so that's not cool.
Officially I am done with math for my undergraduate career (unless I failed a final or something) I don't know whether to feel a little down or relived, but I feel both. Now it's just mostly education classes from here on out.
So I figured this would be a good entry for the occasion. (I think I got this from her. Sorry if y'all have already seen this before, but they amuse me)
Annndddd... hm. Well, I'd post a picture of my haircut, but it's already grown an inch. So, I guess I'll just post this picture of Tyler and Raymond.
Enjoy. :)
Happy Singles-Awareness Day! Even though I am technically dating someone, I still want to hit someone with a dead fish.
In case you don't want to celebrate V-day or the related holidays, you can celebrate the 60th anniversary of my Granddad coming to the US. 60 years ago my grandfather, Elias Abdulnour Awwad, arrived in New York and went into a restaurant, asking for a "real American meal." The waitress said that he needed to eat a hog dog. Of course, I'm sure that translated real interesting, but he was assured that he was not eating a real dog. 3 days later he moved to Austin and attended University of Texas where he met and married his wife Mary Sue Havins. They had 4 kids, one of which was my mom who met my father and had...me! :-P So Happy 60th B-day of you coming to America, Granddad! :)
Since a lot of stuff has happened since my last entry, I posted some random pictures for you to enjoy below this one. :)
