Please say hi to my son. 08-21-08 08:40pm EST
Brian finally decided to join us.
btomlin I was going to try to link but I'll let you do the work. :)
---------------------------

One of the good people on here, sorry I forgot which one, posted info about ebates.com. We have been using them, when we remember, and today received a check for $40.42.
It's simple to do, just go to ebates.com, sign up and put in the email address of the person who referred you (if you want that person to get $10) and choose your store. You will see the % you get back on your purchases. That's it...ebates keeps up with your total and will mail you a check.
You will also get an additional $10 when you make your first purchase.
I will give you our email address privately if you choose to send $10 our way. If you know the original poster for this, I'm sure she (I do remember it was a woman) would appreciate the $10. :)
harbermamaClick here for the link.
jdb1972They'll let anyone on here... ;)

cdillman23I need to remember to do my other rebates! I keep forgetting...
am37kartyes ma'am, I am trying to. :)
centexpreacherDon't know of any relatives in Memphis. My dad's cousin Johnny used to preach in Loudon, TN, and my brother preached in Jonesborough, TN. But that's all been years ago.
ex_patSo did I a long time ago. She doesn't check it very much.
jessica_baileyHey, I just found your message where you were trying to contact one of April's friends... Sorry that I wasn't much help in determining whether she was ok or not, but I can tell you that she is a little sleep deprived now, but doing well.
jessica_baileysince I'm a little late, I figured I'd provide an update.
crab_rapperWe are keeping a close eye on things and will be ready to evacuate on Friday ... probably. Time will tell. Of-course we will try to go the opposite way that the hurricane appears to be going ... how do we do that ???

Aren't you in S. Carolina? What city again??
kerifieldsriceMy aunt, uncle and cousins attend worship services with them in Texas. So I meet them when I went to visit. Kandi's mom is just absolutely sweet. The whole congregation there is really awesome! [x]
crab_rapperI was in your state about a month ago ... visited the Taylors congregation and then drove to Beaufort.

Back home, praying Fay won't be a problem for our kids 08-18-08 02:24pm EST
We delivered Amanda to FC and made it home after spending quality time with the McKinney family, watching Alan race for the first time. YAY, Alan, congratulations on your win!
I enjoyed the service Sunday morning at TT. I got a little choked up at one point during the singing...most edifying.
I appreciate Don Truex's lesson...especially when he addressed remarks to encourage our children to make the right choices.

Amanda's room was a wreck when we left on Sunday afternoon but I'm hopeful she and her roommates will eventually find space for whatever they have in all those boxes, trunks and bags.

Everyone, please, remember to pray for those in the path of Fay.
mcbecciNo prob doing the flyers. Glad you're home safe and sound. Amanda did seem pretty happy, and Alan, too.
momsterSure wish we could have been at TT for Don's lesson...he does such a wonderful job. We miss everyone there. Glad you got Amanda delivered safe and sound...will keep them all in our prayers with the bad weather. Fortunately, I believe FC to be one of the safest places there in TT during all those storms.
dorothy129I am glad everthing went well. I am watching the storms closely and praying for safety for all in its path, as I am sure other parents are also.
am37kartThanks! Glad yall made it home safely!
cdillman23Glad you made it back safely! I heard at one time that Fay's path included Tampa. I am hoping that we get some of the rain from it.

If you do need that change of pace, let me know if you want to come for a visit in October. :)
deewatsonI think that Dave Ramsey is on one of the Charleston radio stations sometimes. I don't know if you can get any of their stations, but you can go on his website and there is a place for you to put in your zip code and they tell you if he is on any stations in your area. I'll be praying that Fay will bring welcome rain and that's it!
sarahtidwellI'm glad you made it to FC and back safely. I'm sure Amanda is looking forward to her second year there.

on the road again 08-15-08 09:56am EST
We are ready to leave for FC again. I'm afraid it won't be so easy to come home without her this time.
ex_patHave a safe trip. My daughter is leaving today to drive down.
carolina_sueIt never gets easier! I hope you have a safe trip. I think it helps to focus on your daughter and be thankful she's happy and where she wants to be - and especially that she's with so many Christians. If I think just about myself and being a long way from my kids, I'm miserable!
trefe_somethinghopefullly I'll see you around tomorrow...I'm off campus this year, but I will be over there, hanging out and visiting tomorrow during the madness!
centexpreacherI don't know if you know Diana and Danny, but they're taking their son to FC this week.

Danny is my cousin, he preaches in Huntington, Texas. This will be James' first year at FC. Anyway, they're great people, maybe your daughter could look him up.
harbermamaEvery blog I go to tonight is talking about this; it helps me to know my feelings are shared by others, but I am needing to be happier! :-) She's sleeping on the floor next to where I'm sitting; this is her last night with "us".

Olympics 08-10-08 04:54pm EST
I'm wondering if the people in the opening ceremonies would be better olympians than those competing.
deewatsonThey have visited a lot lately. To my knowledge, they haven't placed membership or anything yet.
deewatsonI don't know if I have told you this before, but years (long time!) ago when my grandparents moved back to SC from Huntsville, AL they tried to meet with other Christians around Cola. and could find no non-institutional groups anywhere near here. (My grandmother and her mom had been members of a more liberal church that still exists around here). When they couldn't convince any of the members of that group that institutionalism was not right, they tried to start a work in Orangeburg. After trying hard for a while to make it work (while driving from Pelion to do it), he finally closed the doors to the building and they eventually moved back to AL because they felt that is what they had to do to be with other strong Christians. Of course, they moved back to SC in the 70's, and when I was young we went to Lower Richland for a pretty long time (but it was about an hour drive), then we went to Aiken (about a 45 minute drive), and then we began with a small group meeting in my mom's office/showroom in Cayce (which was still a 35-40 minute drive). When we got enough people (and funds) together, then we built the building that we are in now, and thanks be to God, we have continued to grow. It was a long road, though. Hopefully the group that you have down there will be able to grow. But, you know that we would love to have you join us anytime you can. I assume that you know this, but Anne England Steibing (Fred and Thomasina's daughter) and little Aidan worship with us also.
losteeyoreTell Amanda happy late birthday, which is how i tell everyone,LATE. WE are leaving early Friday morning if all goes as planed, we will spend the night somewhere and then back on the road early Saturday. So I am not sure what time we will get to the dorm.
losteeyorewhere will you be going to church on Sunday? how long are you staying?
matermagistraJean Allen's name on the recipe, please. Thanks!
am37kartalright, I'm ready! :)
mcbecciI emailed you what the flyer looks like so far if you want to take a look!

I HATE dealing with student loans! 08-07-08 12:12pm EST
It's a vicious circle! I have spent all morning, and several hours last night, trying to make sense of my son's student loans. Should he consolidate, who should he go with? The only information I can get is a huge range of rates. Of course, it all comes back to the credit rating.
There is also something called "weighted" rates...news to me but I learned how it's done. I suppose an old dog can learn every now and then but it really hurts my head!
He is also considering buying a new truck. He wants to know how much his monthly payments for government and private loans will be before he can budget for a truck payment, not to mention insurance, taxes and the like.
I wish I could convince him to wait a few, or several months, to buy but you know how it is when you have the fever.
Anyone want to wade in with loan consolidation advice?
deewatsonDon't have any advice on that, except that if he can't hold off on the vehicle, to go with a credit union for financing if at all possible. On the other thing, I know that Jenny has brought some visitors with her, mainly children, but it was my understanding that they were visiting from Florida. I may have misunderstood, though. I didn't realize that Kathy wasn't worshipping with y'all anymore. How are things going with wedding plans? I don't know if I ever heard the exact date? Have a good weekend! :)
mcbecciHappy Birthday to Amanda!!!
deewatsonKathy had come with Jenny on Sunday evenings a couple of times in the last several months, but on Sunday mornings, as a rule, it is only Jenny and Hunter.
