Hi, Ashlyn, this is Andrew's mom. It was nice to officially meet you at the Whitsitts'. I've seen so many pictures of you from banquet and stuff like that. :)
By the way, the first time I saw Hoodwinked, I thought it was funny. After that, I couldn't stand to watch it anymore for a LONG time. Andrew, Robbie and I finally just watched again last week, and I have to admit that it made me laugh. Twitchy IS really funny. (He should be in a Starbucks advertisement, no?)
Just thought I'd update and let everyone know I'm still alive. But the real reason for this update is to ask for prayers. I know many of you already are, but I'm asking you all to remember the Harris family in your prayers. The latest update about her doctors appointment today(10/21)is on the Praying_for_Kelsey group. Kelsey is one amazing girl and I wish that you all could know her like I do.
We have chemo every other week, starting next Wed. So you and your mom could look at your schedule for those "off" weeks we would be happy to have you!!
Yeah , I actually had my first High school practice tonight. It was not as bad as I thought, but this was the easiest practice of the year! I hope you are able to go to the next singing cause I really want to see my Ashy-Poo! LOL

The meeting this week was absolutely fabulous! It was so encouraging and I hate to see it end, it felt like it just started! This weeks been fantastic for many reasons...!!
I was tagged to write 8 random facts about myself and Kelsey told me to make them something she didn’t know. Well Kelsey and I are best friends so this could be interesting, but here it goes!
1. When I find something I enjoy, I do it with obsession. Examples: 1.)Gilmore Girls, Within two months I think I owned all 7 seasons. I don’t even want to think how short of a time it took me to watch all of the seasons… 2.) My newest obsession: Twilight, I read the first three books in eleven days.
2. Every time I touch my shoes I feel the need to wash my hands. Yes, I will admit to it, I can be a bit of a germ freak, but I’ve actually gotten a lot more laid back about it this summer. No one likes to cook with me; you touch your face, you wash your hands, you touch your hair, you wash your hands. Yeah you get the idea. Oddly, I will eat/drink after some people though.
3. Unless I’m doing something important music has to be playing in the car. And it generally is on a country station unless I have my ipod plugged in. And when music is playing in the car I will sing along as long as I know the words, but it also depends on who is in the car. I will only sing around people(other than my family) if I’m very comfortable around them, there are a couple exceptions to that ‘rule’ though.
4. I’ve been windsurfing, ocean kayaking, parasailing, I’ve ridden in a glider, rode 4-wheelers through a trail in the Rocky mountains, I’ve been ‘skydiving’ in one of those wind tunnel things and a few other things like that. I’m a little more adventuresome than most people would probably give me credit for. I love to try new things.
5. I made my goal, at the beginning of my Freshmen year to go to Harvard. For those of you wondering the reason behind that, see random fact 1, example 1. Yes, I have researched Harvard, Yale, and a few other of the Ivy League schools; I found out tuition, SAT score needed to get in, summer programs for high school students, etc. This slowly turned into the goal of having good enough grades to get into Harvard.
6. I love spicy foods, and food that has strong flavors. When my family thinks that a soup is too spicy or that they over seasoned something, that’s when I like it. And even then, I think it could use a little more:)
7. I don’t believe in eating normal breakfast foods. On occasion I will, but I much prefer to eat something that any normal person would cringe at to eat for breakfast. I had a burrito for breakfast on Monday, yeah I know I’m weird.
8. I’ve been told I say words like “talent”, “challenge”, “bounce”, “bowl”, “balance” etc. funny. I don’t think it sounds funny, but I honestly have no idea where I learned to pronounce them the way I do, I’m the only one in my family who says it that way.

9. I like cars that either A. I can’t afford or B. The insurance would be outrageous on. Newest cars added to my “dream on” list: 350Z and a Porsche 911 Turbo. My dad told me that I'm starting to sound like a teenage guy because I keep pointing out cars I like as I'm driving. :-P

2. During the holiday season, she bakes a different batch of cookies EVERY DAY!And she doesn't even EAT most of them
3. You know that girl at the sleepover who gets up to brush he teeth at one in the morning and makes everyone else feel guilty? Yep, that's Ash.
4. Ash doesn't really like or trust cats (dont say I blame her)
5. Ash does this weird thing for fun. She runs . Even when no dog is chasing her!
6. Ash has been known to get dressed inj shorts and a tshirt, gather all the pool toys (including a big blow up boat) put on flip flops and walk to the pool in latew September. Then when finding the pool was closed, w-she tromped back to her houser and proceeded to set up a slipnslide down her hill and scream like an idiot until the visiting preacher came back from his walk. Then she dried herself in the front yard and waved to whoever passed.
7. Ash says the word "bowl" like "bull"! I was as confused as a penguin in Hawaii!"
8.I love Ashylyn very very much! (although, if that is a little known fact, I am either a very bad sister/friend or you dont know me very well...hopefully the latter)

I Like the Gilmore girls too. The roll reversal between Mother and Daughter gets on my nerves sometimes. That Grandmother is a bit too much, but I love to watch it!
no. I was counting all the other stuff you listed. I HAVE to have music playing constantly. In my room, in the car (iPod), no matter where on earth I am. And I love spicy foods. That was it.
Ive never met her. But have read about her and I wish I do get the chance to met her. Ive heard only great things about her and her family. She is such an incredible girl.

I was doing some studying on this verse and the topic of perseverance and thought I'd share some of the things I studied.
1 Corinthians 9:24“Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but only one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may win.” I know there are a multitude of things we need to do to run this race and be faithful but here are five points/examples I thought of in regards to this verse. I plan on writing on the first three now and the last two later on this week Lord willing.
Put Away Sin. Ephesians 4:17-24“This I say, therefore, and testify in the Lord, that you should no longer walk as the rest of the Gentiles walk, in the futility of their mind, having their understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God, because of the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart; who, being past feeling, have given themselves over to lewdness, to work all uncleanness with greediness. But you have not so learned Christ, if indeed you have heard Him and have been taught by Him, as the truth is in Jesus: that you put off, concerning your former conduct, the old man which grows corrupt according to the deceitful lusts, and be renewed in the spirit of your mind, and that you put on the new man which was created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness.” 1 John 2:15-17“Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—is not of the Father but is of the world. And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever.” I look at Saul(Paul) as a great example of someone who put away sin. In Acts 8:3 it talks about how Saul was persecuting Christians. He put them in prison and even killed some of them. The complete turn around that Saul makes amazes me. In chapter 9 verses 20-22 it tells us that Saul was preaching in the synagogues. Saul turned away from what he was doing wrong and devoted his life to God. We need to be like Saul and stop sinning and put the focus back on God where it needs to be.
Determine to be righteous. The word “determine” means: to decide upon; to come to a decision or resolution; coming to a firm decision; set limits to; to mark the end or boundary.
I think of Daniel when I think of someone who was determined to be righteous. In Daniel 1:5-8, Daniel purposed in his heart to not defile himself with the king’s food even before he spoke with the person in charge. He had already made that decision of what he was going to do and nothing was going to change his mind. In our words, Daniel was being stubborn for a good cause. How often do we think about determining to be righteous, and deciding beforehand what we will do when a temptation comes along? Ephesians 6:13-17 says we need to put on the armor of God. That requires us to be PROactive and not REactive. Don’t wait until you are in the heat of the battle to put on your armor.
Be Faithful 2 Timothy 4:7-8“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing.” Matthew 25:23“His lord said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant; you have been faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.’” James puts things in perspective when he said “…whereas you do not know what will happen tomorrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away.”. I find this verse to be very comforting. I know that the trials I will have to endure here on earth are very short when compared to eternity in Heaven. To know that one day I can go to a place where there will be no more tears, no more pain, and no more sorrow(Rev. 21:4), makes it much easier to persevere through the trials and challenges I’m facing now.
Let us all look to Jesus and follow His example and try to be the best servant for Him! 1 John 1:5-7“This is the message which we have heard from Him and declare to you, that God is light and in Him is no darkness at all. If we say that we have fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth. But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.”
I'll have to ask him about it. We've been spending a ton of time together. We're seriously getting to be like brothers (physical brothers mind you. although I suppose we could always grow together spiritually too) I think maybe I often don't realize what God has done for me because I don't put everything into it. But He just keeps blessing more and more the more we serve Him.
Probably more the latter than the former. =P I'm working through pretty much the entire day, breaking for lunch and dinner, and to rest my mind towards the end of my night. College life? College minus life is more like it. lol
Don't get me wrong, though. I need this, and I know I need it, and I'm grateful that I can get it. It just seems that the support from my family and friends and my trust and confidence in God (that more than anything) are the only things keeping me sane right now..... when I really think about it though, that ought to be enough. :)
