Thanks to all who sent encouragement!

I am the most blessed of peoples. My husband loves me. I have my sister and husband, my son and family, and my other son and his wife are coming in Nov/Dec. My Dad and Shirley are coping with medical problems but doing ok. My other sister loves me. My brethren are loving. I am blessed with many friends. And I love you all! And best of all, my Lord and God and the Holy Spirit are loving me with mercy and kindness. It is too good to be true!

Good news also, my husband has had cataract surgery on one of his eyes and can see 20/25 vision. The other will be done Wednesday. His eyes had gotten so bad that we were running out of options with glasses and contact lenses. I am so happy for him!

Even Sweetie Pie loves and obeys me. Most of the time. She really wants more treats.
raifhausBut I don't want to be "company"... I want to sneak cookies from the cookie jar!
I am just amazed at the improvement in eyesight.
ellwoodwd^i really don't think you were allowed to do that when you weren't "company".
marmeeI am sorry we didn't get to visit more at the Knapp wedding, but I'm glad you had time with Stephen & Amber. Very happy to hear of Robert's improved eyesight. I am one of those brethren that love you! :) {{Hug}}
mr_and_mrs_berryOh I'm so glad about the eyes! What a blessing for him.
mr_and_mrs_berryand oh yes, we are so blessed; sometimes I just need to begin remembering and counting.
ruthkrumreiHi Nancy--You are a blessing in my life :) You had such a great influence on me when I was a young mother...You and Raif are truly a blessing to all who know you!
leyvaleyvawow, thats great about the eyes.
grannyI may be sitting right now in your home, gathering all the love you surround me with, but when I now read your entry -- you are love and are loved, by so many.
nickkrumreiDid you tell Raif those weren't cookies, but Sweetie Pie treats?!?! Well his teeth are nice a white and fresher breath. I am glad he looks better now. Will they do the other eye? Joanna wrote me and Patti told me of you Thankgiving get together. What a precious time. I miss you all desperately!
mirrorjranchI received your Christmas letter! Thank you! So good to hear you had a great holiday! Tell Raif to show you our pictures on Facebook. Jeff put some on there recently. Love you!

I don't know how much you all are keeping up on the hurricane aftermath. There's many pictures of Galveston and other areas that are so sad. People have lost so much. My parents still don't have electricity. My doctor lost half of his roof which brought all the rain into his house. And now the mold and mildew are growing. We just got a midsize hole in the roof and a very messy yard. But now I am smelling mold/mildew coming from where the roof leaked and went down into the walls. I have no idea what this will mean to our house insurance payments and what they will be willing to do. Hopefully clean it all up. But there is a clause in the insurance agreement that if the damage is from a tropical storm, the first two percent of the value of the house is a deductible. And they upped the value of the house. I wonder what they are going to cover? But I still remember those worse off and am thankful. Most of the Christians here just have yard damage. God has been good to us.
nickkrumreiDo you have a dehumidifier? Hi Nancy. Nice to hear from you, we miss you like crazy. We pray for your youngun's every day. Murph is in Austin with his mom. She is not doing well. Hugs to the big lug from us.
mirrorjranchHello! I'm thinking of you! We visited the brethren in Burnet last weekend and they asked how you all were doing. ~Janice
mr_and_mrs_berryHi Nancy. A dehumidifier would help. Also that silica type absorbent jell stuff is good in closets. God is good.
sweetiepiesmomHadn't thought about a dehumidifier. Thanks. Now that we have electricity, the mildew smell has gone down. I miss you, too, Nick and Ruth. I saw the picture of your kitchen window. What talent! So sorry about Murph's mom. I really dread it when my Dad dies.

Silly me 09-03-08 01:54am EST
Well, Gustov was coming directly over our town so we purified the water, cleaned out the garage so the car could get in it, and collected all the things the Hurricane System warned us to get. We were ready. Ready for the trees all around us to fall on us. Ready to lose power (as much as we can bear the heat). Ready with flashlights, batteries, etc. and the car full of gas. Ready with emergency numbers. Praying fervantly for ourselves and our friends. We go to bed and I'm needing comfort because I've never "rode it out" this close before. Get up. The sun is shining. We get a few soft patterings of water on the roof and find out that the hurricane had decided to go another way. What a let-down! Not that I would wish a hurricane on anyone including myself, but when you've covered all (?) your bases and there isn't any game, all there is to do is the chore of putting it all back. What are we going to do with all this water? Hmmm. And then there is all the boxed junk that we haven't unpacked since we moved here and was put in our bedroom to make room for the car. I don't think they will be allowed back out there. So I guess I'll do some more unpacking. She said after lifting another box up out of the way so she could get to the top drawer of the dresser. Oh well, after all, we've only been here almost a year.
marmeeI'm currently in Houston (Katy) with Crystal and family. We did a little preparation, too, and haven't had a drop of Gustav either. The humidity is so oppressive, I wish we would get some rain! Maybe from Ike! Happy unpacking ... or not. :)
carolynBetter safe than sorry. Love you too!
adamandjessesdadHey, Nancy. Where do you live now?
sweetiepiesmomI thank the good Lord who answered my prayers for safety. I hope none other of his people were harmed.
sweetiepiesmomLivingston Texas. Give me a clue as to who you are? You probably told me before but I've forgotten.
sweetiepiesmomThe people here have told me so many terrible stories, I have no wish to go through another hurricane. And guess what! I am finding that half the boxes belong to my husband. Ha!
raifhausI was always disappointed when we actually did go to the trouble to tape our windows in prep for a hurricane when living in RI, and there was no excitement. The simple peaceful life is probably better, anyway :) Glad you didn't even have to sit around in the heat with no AC.
grannyI have a solution sister dear. How about sending us some of that drinking water? Our well has gone dry -- well, the city's ability to supply seems to be in great diffiuclties. So, I'm thankful another hurricane passed you by. Very thankful.
grannyHang on to that water -- I just had a look at Ike. He doesn't look to friendly!
tlungstrumHi there! Yes, we are expecting a baby girl in Nov. We're very excited although that does mean we are running out of room in the house... We are thinking about enclosing the back porch for a play room. Mom is doing fine. How are you guys doing?
sweetiepiesmomGlad you are expecting a girl. How wonderful! Hope you can work out the space problem ok.
sweetiepiesmomYour well has run dry? We saved up over 25 gallons to get us through the aftermath and we used most of it. So glad they warned us to do so.
