I know that this is true for me...there are just certain memories that I think about more than others. Not that they are significantly more important, though some are, they just happen to be more prominent than other events. I think, most importantly, they give me a sense of peace when I think of them...they help me to realize how blessed I am.
So here are the memories:
#1. A few years ago, at the end of my sophomore year in high school, my family had the opportunity to visit Canada! We drove up through Toronto (which is seriously the cleanest city in the world) up to Mont Tremblant(a resort up in the mountains/wilderness of Quebec). It was absolutely amazing and beautiful. Although we had language barriers, and a few of the stressful events that often occur in different countries, we were treated with such kindness by complete strangers...like when dad drove his car into a ditch haha :)
Every morning and evening, a layer of fog would blanket the lake and town. I would stand there for hours just watching the mist roll through.
#2. My roommate brought me down to Alabama before our freshman year at FC for some fun & roommate bonding time. Near the end of the trip we went to a gathering for FC-bound students which was held at a home by a lake. It was beautiful and sunny, absolutely perfect weather. And I, the girl who is afraid of roller coasters, went jet skiing for the first time! Ashleigh was so sweet and patient, while I got used to it (even when I flung her off the back...oops!).
It's hard to describe the way the wind violently hits your face as you round the waves of sloshing currents made by other boaters...or how quickly the picturesque scenes of lakeside homes perched upon rocky cliffs fly by as you accelerate to reach the shore in time for lunch. It was breathtaking!
These are my top two memories...although, I have to say that I have one more at the moment. Before posting this, I asked my sis what memories she thinks of first.
Here's what she had to say:
My favorite memory is ridding in the car with you when it's just us...and you let me listen to whatever music I want...and we talk.
Did I mention that I love her!!!! This is definitely my new favorite memory.
What about you? What are some of your favorite and most blessed memories?
And, in conclusion, study about Patience in James 5:7 and following. Some of it's highlights are #1. Don't swear (it's opposed to faith!), #2. Pray (how, when, and why), #3. Bringing others to the truth.
If you made it through this post then I commend you on your patience ;)
I read on a plaque this week, "We do not remember days, we remember moments." Sometimes we (parents) try to create wonderful days of memories for our children, when they probably won't remember them. But they might remember the moment we took to listen to them or to take them along for a ride. Good thoughts.
One of my favorite memories has to be riding on the Maid of the Mist with my family at Niagara Falls (Canadian side, of course) - The mist was so thick that we could barely see. We all got drenched in our ponchos, and we couldn't stop laughing. I was probably 7-8 years old, and we still have a photo of us on the ship framed to this day.
I am writing this post in the midst of an extensive coupon search...I am planning (with the help of mom) our Thanksgiving meal. It's a lot of fun! Looking through ads, cutting out coupons, and calculating savings is also fun...but be warned, it is extremely addicting!!
It is cold and rainy outside. The ground is masked by red, slushy leaves and the hills are muted by a wonderful layer of fog each morning. During this season, classical music is a must...at least for me. Yay for NPR, in spite of all its liberals :)
School and work are good. For a while it has been driving me crazy though, trying to balance it all. Although I like pharmacy, it is very stressful. And, for some reason, the pharmacist thinks that he will convince me to stay in pharmacy. I keep telling him that I am not going to be a pharmacy tech or pharmacist. Either he doesn't believe me or he chooses not to remember...hmmm.
And while he is trying to keep me in pharmacy, my manager wants me in customer service. This is something that I am actually considering because it is not nearly as time consuming or stressful. I should be able to do it at the same time as my radiology program, when and if I get in. Also, I can definitely argue for a major pay raise...I can't really do that in pharmacy, believe it or not. The techs make the same amount as a cashier!
An interesting thing happened today. An older lady left her purse in a shopping cart outside. I found it and brought it to customer service. When she came back for it later, she was so happy to see it that she said she was going to give me money. I was like "oh no!" I was honestly just happy that she got her purse back. Before I could protest anymore she shoved $40 in my pocket!! I really didn't deserve that.
Isn't it funny how the Lord blesses us? Now I have christmas money to buy presents for my family :) What a wonderful surprise!
Tonight was a wonderful night to be outside, despite the drops of rain. I had to bag tonight but I enjoyed it. Sometimes it's nice to escape the ringing of cash registers and the noise of customers.
Also, church is wonderful! I love it when fellow Christians sit with you after service, just to talk about what is happening in everyone's lives. The Wed. night lesson by Trevor Brandt was also very nice. It was about infant baptism, and about how we shouldn't be afraid to talk to people about what they or their denomination believes. You never know when they might just listen.
In other news, I have acquired a lovely green cloche hat to wear to church and other places. Now Hallie and I match, for she has one, except it is black not green. She thinks we look smashing.
Oh dear, I did not realize how late it is! I must go to bed now so that I can get up early for pharmacy. I will write more later.
So lovely to wake up and hear from you this morning :)
Have you heard of grocery_gaming? (It's one of my groups) It's very cool! I don't do it yet because I can't afford to since I'm only buying for me --but I'm keeping it in mind for the future!
God is so good! And He does help us in the last ways we would expect! Isn't that cool!?
It is cold outside. It is fall. It is beautiful!!!
This is definitely my favorite time of the year. Sometimes I wish we could just stay suspended in the wonderful autumn season!
I am still working a lot...big surprise lol...but it's ok. The Lord still manages to outpour his blessings, perhaps not in "big" or "important" ways (as we would have it), but in little ways. And I think that makes it all the more perfect.
Although sometimes I complain, I know that my job is such a blessing! I work in a safe, happy, and friendly place. While at times it can be stressful, it is not more than I can bear. I have made a few friends, both young and old...maybe they are not the "kindred spirit" (to quote Anne of Green Gables) type of friends that I would like to have, but they are all generally pleasant to work with. And for that I am grateful.
School is going pretty well. I am constantly learning new and entirely amazing things. Anatomy is definitely my favorite class...it has impressed upon me so many things...like how the human body can be so fragile yet incredibly intricate all at the same time. I love it!
Next week I have 4 major tests!!! Ahh it is crazy. The only class I am really worried about is Medical Terminolgy...math, anatomy (lecture and lab) should not be a problem.
Anyway, that is all I have to say. But before I go, I thought I would share a few pictures from my Halloween. I had to work...but I did get to dress up! I was going for medieval/renaissance princess...no one could really figure it out haha. This one guy asked me if I was "Lady Byron"...I was like "uh yeah that will definitely work." Why hadn't I thought of something that creative?
Me, er "Lady Bryon/princess":
Customer Service Staff, Christina as "Mary Poppins":
Fellow Cashier, Katy as a lady bug:
And last, but not least, Hallie the cow girl:
umm yeah she obviously did not know that there would be candy...
Though I didn't get a picture, we went out to eat Friday night and one of the waiters had a small wooden bench strapped to his head. He was wearing a puffed out pink coat. What was he?...a blob of chewed bubble gum stuck under a chair! hahahaha
first of all I would just like to thank everyone so much for wishing me a happy birthday!! You all really made me feel special :)
Wow so I am just so incredibly busy right now. I know that I keep saying that, but it is so true.
Today was my first day working in the Pharmacy! It was pretty much amazing (esp since I got to wear the comfy blue pharmacy smock lol). This morning I learned how to fill prescriptions. I had to learn fast because we had a whole stack of orders. Once you get the hang of it, it's really a lot of fun. I also learned how to mix suspensions, take calls, ring up orders, and fill prescriptions on the computer. And I still have more to learn!
I won't be working in there all the time. I basically just fill in when someone's sick, when there's a schedule problem, or when things get really busy. The pharmacist also wants me to work in there one weekend each month.
Also, next week I start my cashier training...which means no more bagging!!! Well, actually, I'll probably still have some bagging shifts, but I should be cashiering most of the time...and then the rest of the time I'll be in Pharmacy! This all makes me very happy :)
School is absolutely crazy right now b/c I'm trying to balance it along with my work schedule. This thurs I have my first Anatomy and Physiology test...which is a little nerve-wracking b/c I have no time to study! Oh yeah and I also have a math test tomorrow...which means I have even less time to study for A&P...hmm.
Oh and I'm just a little (more like very extremely) disgruntled b/c apparently everybody at volstate smokes...a lot. It's gross. I am very glad I only go in for A&P (the rest is online).
Friday is an exciting day for me b/c I get to pick up my new glasses. I had to get new ones b/c I couldn't really see out of the other ones (the glare was giving me tons of headaches!). I usually wear contacts but sometimes I'm so tired they just won't stay in. Anyways, the new ones are brown and green & uber cute...so I pretty much can't wait!
So basically, things are going really well right now. I feel as if a lot of prayers have been answered as far as my work goes. Cashiering + Pharmacy is going to be so much easier on me than bagging!
What else...
Oh yeah, I registered to vote! Go McCain and Palin!!
Ok so I think that's all I had to say. I'll write more later,
