So on Sunday afternoon during the hurricane force winds, our shed decided that it wanted to fall victim to the nasty winds. This resulted in the shed becoming demolished or imploding upon itself. Not fun. So on Sunday night after the Garcia's let us borrow some of their garage space for our lawn equipment. We to work cleaning up the debris so that it wouldn't blow anywhere else.
Also these hurricane force winds have resulted in school being called off for an entire week. JCPS (Louisville) had been calling school off on a day by day basis, but today they announced we are closed for the rest of the week. Crazy!!!
Wow! That is crazy. I know Hannah was off through today. I would have thought the winds would not have been so strong by the time they got to the Louisville area. I'm sorry about your shed. Did your lawn equipment survive okay?
Btw, things have been crazy, so I don't remember if I thanked you or not for you sweet phone message. I think I did, but just in case I didn't, thank you very much. I happened upon it again today when I was going through my voicemails, and it was just really sweet of you and meant a whole lot. Knowing you are up there and have been so kind to Hannah is such a comfort.
This Saturday, Hannah and I went to KY State Fair to see the sights and attend the Brad Paisley Concert! After we finally made it there (due to a bad accident on I-65 that Hannah had to detour around) it took us about an hour to park.
We got to see some of the exhibits and some of the sights... and even catch up with some old friends of mine and my parents. :) (Yes, Laura I'm talking about you guys! ;) ) We got into Freedom Hall and found our seats and partied away with Brad Paisley. :) We had so much fun! What a great way to celebrate surviving the first week back to work (school).
This year I am starting my fourth year of teaching and my second year teaching the fourth grade. Right now, I only have 23 students which is GREAT, but I know that will change before too long due to turnover and new students coming in. This year I am teaching Reading to all 3 fourth grade classes. So hopefully I don't get too bogged down and can make it fun and exciting for the students. :) Well, I'm off to grade papers and watch The Closer!!!!
Wow, I didn't realize it had been that long since we graduated! How do you like 4th grade with all the portfolio and testing stress? I'm sure you handle it really well. That fair sounds like so much fun, esp. the Concert!! Maybe next year I can make it up there for it. Hope the rest of your day goes okay!
Thank you so much for your phone message, Rachel. It meant so much. Truly though, what we did was nothing to be praised compared to what Hannah is having to do through such trials. I can't tell you what a comfort it is to know that you are up their keeping an eye out for her and helping her, and the rest at the congregation. Thank you so very much! It was great to see you and hope you all are feeling better!
Ryan and I celebrated our 3 year anniv. back on the 9th. It just seems like yesterday that we got married. I love him even more than I did when we got married. I'm so glad that God has blessed us and through him we will continue to grow stronger in Christ and in our marriage.
Time is really flying by.
I finished my summer class back on the 23rd!!! I'm so happy that is done. I'm officially halfway through with my graduate degree now. Who-Hoo!!! I've now begun working on preparing for school... it is the dreaded word right now! I've spent a lot of time getting my new classroom ready for the upcoming school year. Well, i've got to start getting ready for this evening and dinner!
Have a great day!!!
This past week, Ryan and I went on our summer vacation. This year we went to Florida and had a blast, even though it rained a bit while we were down there. We went to Sea World, Gator Land, Universal Studios, and Islands of Adventure. We also went to Arabian Nights (a dinner show), which was really neat and a good show. We had a safe trip and as of last night we picked Lexi up from my rents who helped us out by watching their grand-dog. :) Now we are in the midst of the unpacking process and getting back to "normal" life. I just went to a technology PD and rec'd a laptop and a projector for me to use in my classroom. I am so excited to be able to integrate technology into my classroom and I know it will help keep some of the kids more interested in the class discussions and will make reviewing content more exciting!!! Well, I've got to go make a salad for dinner. Have a great evening!
Sounds like so much fun! Glad you all got to get away. Oh, and I SO feel your excitement about your new technology! Congrats! I know that will be really helpful!
Well, I should say school's been out since last Friday which I am so glad!!! Due to teaching 4th grade, the students just go downhill once testing is over b/c it such a long period for them to be under so much stress. I am so happy that it is summer time. :) I went and got a "summer do". I think it looks great! Ryan and I are leaving on the 7th and heading to Orlando for a week. I am looking forward to relaxing in the sun and enjoying FL. I start a 2 1/2 week summer intensive class on Assessment in teaching in July on our 3rd year anniversary and I have a ton of Professional Developments to attend. But overall I am looking forward to the summer and relaxing though I know I'll be ready for the school year to start come August. Pathetic I know, but what can I say I love my job even if the kids drive me insane at times. :)
I did forget to mention that I got to attend the 134th Ky Derby in the Grandstands!!! Megan and I had so much fun!!! Her dad was so nice to get the tickets for us!!!!
