Kaitlyn had her 4 month check up and vaccines yesterday. She weighs 13 lbs 8 oz and is 26 inches long. She is in the 50th percentile for weight and 95th for height. I guess her weight is catching up with her height. The doctor said she is already teething. I thought she was because she has been gnawing on everything, including our collar bones :) But I kind of hope it takes her a while to get a tooth. I can't imagine our little baby with a tooth! She hasn't been fussy with it yet, so maybe it will still be a while. The doctor said that the risk of SIDS is no longer an issue since she is rolling over on her own. She also said she could begin eating rice cereal if we want, but that it's no big hurry if we want to wait. Kaitlyn does seem to be getting a little curious about food, but I guess we'll know when she's ready.
I am buying his food right now. I was trying to see if there was anything he didn't like that way I wouldn't prepare a bunch and have to toss it. So far he's liked EVERYTHING! he's such a little chunk! I think I'll keep buying it for convenience sake. I read that you can't duplicate the sanitary conditions in a factory in your kitchen so that made me feel a little better. Besides this stage is so short, he'll be eating table food soon. He already downs Ritz crackers like crazy. 2 or 3 at a setting! He loves to munch.
Yes! Thanks for asking, his naps are much better as of this week. All the sudden he decided he can nap 2 hours at a time! Little stinker! Her goes down for his morning nap about 2 1/2 hours after he gets up and then does the same thing in the afternoon. He still takes a third nap around dinner time but it's short, about 45 minutes. I'm SO happy. I actually got some cloest doors painted yesterday while he napped!
It's so nice ti be able to check on ya'll here!! Glad to hear Kaitlyn's Dr visit went so well! She is so sweet and we enjoyed meeting her a few weeks ago. All is well here- say hello to Victor. Let us know when ya'll will be in Tampa again! Have a wonderful evening.
Just as Kaitlyn has started sleeping in her own crib, I just found out that her crib has been recalled. How frustrating! Thankfully she is taking a nap right now in her pack n play--on her belly of course:-) All of you ladies who responded to my last post confirmed my mother's intuition. I figure if she is strong enough to roll over like that she is probably safe. Of course, I still frequently check on her. I think I'll still see what her doctor says on Tuesday when we go for the 4 month appt. In the end though, I think a mother usually knows her baby better than anyone.
Your baby is beautiful! I guess I haven't been there since before she was born. Thanks for the prayers for my dad, he is still recovering, but it is a slow process. Daphne was in town for a wedding.
your family picture is too cute! I want one! (Kaitlyn is still on our fridge, by the way). Everyone thinks it's a commercial card with a beautiful baby on it, but then they see the front and realize she's a friend's of our's. She's just so beautiful!
Okay, so Kaitlyn has just started sleeping in her own crib in her own room for nap time. We're still working on night time. The only problem is she keeps rolling over to her belly or her side. All I've heard and read says to lay your baby down on their back to sleep, which I do, but what if they roll over on their own? I know this wouldn't be a problem if she were older but 2-6 months is when the risk of SIDS is the highest, and she is almost 4 months. Every time I roll her back to her back she just rolls right back over to her side or belly. Should I be worried or should I just let her sleep?
Just let her sleep. Mine would only sleep on there bellys. I also didn't have anything in the crib with them. She will be fine. I hope to see her and you all soon.
I say leave her alone. If she's rolling around like that the risk of sids has taken a nose dive already.
We've been putting Isaiah down to sleep on his belly since he was 5 weeks old. He started sleeping so much better at that point. I like to sleep on my belly too, it's just more comfy!
Do of course what makes you feel the best. If you're nervous about it then flip her over.
I remember going thru this as well. I think that once they learn to roll over, there is not much you can do because they will just do what ever makes them comfy;) Alayna is a tummy sleeper and I had to learn to leave her alone because that is they only way she would sleep well. But if you are going to be nervous the whole time she is asleep, then do what ever makes you feel better!
Terra! This is Beth Beasley. I saw your comment to Holly about your mom seeing her at church and I had to come find out who you were. :) We sat in front of your family at church when we lived there. We moved back to NC last August.
Congratulations on your baby girl! Christy sent me a note letting me know you had her, but the picture she sent didn't come through.
Can Kaitlyn roll from her belly to her back or just from her back to her belly? My girls both slept on their bellies, it was the only way they would sleep soundly. If she can roll herself back over if necessary, then you really have nothing to worry about.
I can't believe our baby is already 3 months old. Many of you know that we had to wait a long time for our little one to come along, but she was definitely worth the wait. God has truly blessed us with a precious baby girl that brings us an unimaginable amount of joy and happiness. These past 3 months have been the best. We can't imagine our lives without her now. It is so neat to see how she develops and learns new things every week. For example, on Father's Day she laughed out loud for the first time when Victor kissed the side of her belly. Evidently he found her tickle spot. We will always remember that first laugh. She continues to be such a happy and lovable baby. At the airport she was not only smiling and squealing at us, but at everyone else around us. We thank God everyday for giving her to us.
I have just joined the world of pleonast. I have several friends on here but never jumped in until now. I am looking forward to connecting with old friends.
Victor and I are very excited to announce the birth of our beautiful baby girl, Kaitlyn Elizabeth. She was born March 20, 2008. We have another private blog with pictures and updates on our growing family. If you would like to visit that blog, just send me an e-mail and I will invite you to be a reader: tbosorio@comcast.net.
