Six more sleeps here, then I'll sleep in Ohio for five sleeps, then sleep here again. I never sleep too well away from home, so I'll be counting sheeps and reading a lot while the others saw logs, but it'll be nice to see my sister and her kids & hubby, and my brother and his wife (still strange to type that, even tho it's over a year now), and hopefully some cousinly and auntful visitations can be arranged, if they aren't already too busy next week.
DH will not be joining us, as he is hardwired to his business and cannot take a chance on a business customer being out of service and he being 300 miles away, especially at the beginning of the holiday shopping season. I was wanting to let them make the trip alone, but he was insistent that I must go as well. I'm not complaining, just hoping he'll be okay and able to keep the house warm enough.
I went to icanhascheezburger.com and used their lolbuilder to make this. If you like it, click on it and rate it. If it gets a LOT of good ratings, it might get put on their front page.
Valerie Jarrett, co-chair of the transition team for president-elect Obama, was interviewed by Tom Brokaw on Meet the Press over the weekend. She made an interesting choice of terms to describe what she thinks Obama will be doing once he's sworn in.
Excuse me, but TAKE POWER and RULE?
Someone needs to explain to Ms. Jarrett, and likely to the entire transition team and anyone else surrounding Mr. Obama,
that the president and other officials are elected to SERVE the people, not to RULE them.
The president of the united States is not a king or a dictator. At least, not yet. (I even hesitate to refer to the president as our leader, because that word always makes me think of Fearless Leader from Bullwinkle, and that would be a bad thing.)
But, Ms. Jarrett is saying that he'll be ready to "really take power and rule from day one" and, what with people saying he's the Messiah,I just have to wonder what it is that they believe he's going to do.
More seriously, have you read it lately (or ever?) so that, as a citizen of these united States of America, you may rightly judge whether this document that is the law of our land is being adhered to or rather being flouted by those whom we have elected to serve us?
Watch this video of Judge Andrew Napolitano - it makes some excellent points, and I think I might just look for his book, A Nation of Sheep.
I know McCaffery's novels aren't for everyone, but Dragonsdawn has a touch more science than the others, if I remember correctly, if you are interested.... (I am a fan of the series, obviously.)
