Christmas Lists 12-04-08 03:46pm CST

Do you find it hard to think up things that you want for Christmas? I feel so blessed that when a family member asks, I kind of go blank and try to think of some things that I have been wanting.

That being said, I really want a new ceiling fan for my livingroom. Ours stopped working a couple of weeks ago and I really miss having it for air movement. (don't really need it for temperature reasons in the winter, but this is Texas after all!)

What is the strangest thing you have ever requested when asked?
runningjakeI'm not a big fan of lists. I have too big of a family to be able to get everybody something so I'd rather they just tell me Merry Christmas. Normally my husband and I then buy a joint gift for each other, like this year we really want to get a new couch...
little_mommaYes, I have the hardest time! My birthday was a couple of weeks ago and I asked my husband for a bread machine! :) I think I come by it honestly...this year my mom asked my dad for an iron and asked me for a toaster and a caulk kit.
carolattheriverThis year I have asked for dishes. Boring, but exciting!
desiI don't know if it is strange...I asked for a lava lamp one year and received it. This year we are asking for some new Wii games since we don't usually spend much money on that ourselves.
fireboltask my mom about my strange request. One year I wanted masks. And then for like three years straight I asked for a "flower-makin' basket" whatever THAT was.

I am having a hard time his year too.....I honestly just want my hubby, brother and brother-in-law home!

Post-Thanksgiving Post 12-02-08 04:17pm CST
Since we have all had our turkey and dressing and PIE...I thought it would be a good time to reflect on what we are/were thankful for in 2008.

I'll start.

I am thankful I have a Christian, loving, supportive husband and soon-to-be-daddy. I could not have smile so much without him in my life this year.

I am thankful for "Micah" that will join this world in April and for him to know what a special gift he is from our God. I want him to love our God and know He is his Creator!

I am thankful for my job. So many 9including my husband) have struggled this year looking for good employment (or even bad employment). We are blessed to pay our bills and live in content (see Amy's blog on being content!). We are so blessed.

I am thankful I am an American that has the freedom to worship our Heavenly Father openly. Now...to spread that good news! :)

Ok. Your turn...what are you thankful for in 2008?
sarahsmileI'm thankful for friendship...no matter how far away you are!
kennenI'm thankful that 2008 is almost over...it wasn't the best for me :)
But seriously, I'm thankful for the great friends I made thanks to the providence of God. I'm thankful that I have my health and that I have a wonderful husband.
runningjakeI'm thankful for Chloe (hopefully she decides to show up around the end of 2008:) ) and, of course, my wonderful husband! I guess I'm thankful for my cat when she's not in heat...

Nursery and baby name...and a first! 11-24-08 09:54am CST
Sorry, this is a completely baby post! :)

I had had an empty room (somewhat anyway) and a guest room. The guest room is the room I would prefer to be the nursery since I can possibly hear Micah thru my bathroom wall (share a wall) and the other room shares a wall with the garage and didn't want him to wake up everytime. Last night, Ryan and I moved all the guest room furniture into the other bedroom and got it situated (somewhat, still have some things to change on the walls and whatnot). THEN, we put together the crib!! YAY! I bought a "silky" bumper/bedding set at Bracken Village in Garden Ridge, which is a bunch of little shops that look like little houses. They are specialty shops and I found this on sale for half off!! It is chenille dark chocolate brown with baby blue satin ruffles on the top of the bumper and baby blue satin ribbons for the ties to the crib! I love it! Ryan and his sister are going to paint the nursery the weekend I am on a youth group retreat as a chaperone (Dec.12-14). One wall I am going to do the dark brown and the rest baby blue...except I am going to use different sheens of the same color, making it look like stripes! So excited! Tonight, we will put together the matching changing table. I promise I will post pictures!! Oh, and I found letters spelling "Micah" in a neat font with baby blue gingham ribbon attached to hang it up over his crib. The baby blue ribbon is perfect to go on the chocolate wall.

Ryan and I decided on the name "Micah Greyson Pitts", but Ryan constantly was saying he wanted 2 middle names. (I didn't want to do that to the kid everytime he has to fill out government forms!) He was going to let it go (and I wasn't looking for another name) when my incredible, creative friend told me that we should use the middle name "Rhodes" since Ryan and I met and married in Rhode Island. (keep in mind she didn't even know he wanted 2 middle names!) I mentioned to him last week jokingly and he said "I LOVE THAT!". Needless to say, that name is now "Micah Rhodes Greyson Pitts"! So, Sarah, you have had a hand in our child's name! Love you! :)

Our first....Saturday night Ryan and I went to go see the new 007 movie. (was a disappointment!) Before it started, Micah started kicking HARD! I asked Ryan to see if he could feel yet and he looked at me and said "I love you. That is my son!" He had a tear in his eyes and said he is so happy about his little boy. It was so neat to see my husband so mushy....especially since my hormones are changing again! :)

Promise pictures will follow!! What did you guys do this weekend?
runningjakeAh, it sounds like your nursery is going to look wonderful! I can't wait to see the pics. We're getting close to setting everything up, we mostly just need to put the rest of the baby clothes away and set up the changing table still, ah!

His name is really cute! Oh, and thanks for the heads up about the bond movie. We're planning on seeing that and twilight this weekend...
runningjakeOh, and we had our baby shower AND our first parenting class this weekend, they were great!!
stylinmamaSounds like your nursery is going to be ADORABLE! I really wish we could paint the walls in our nursery, but we can't. I can't wait to see pictures of it all put together!

Still love the name. It's a mouthful, but you usually one use the first one. I love the significance of "Rhodes". :)

Taking a mental note...around 21 weeks is when Chris will feel the baby move. How exciting! What a sweet moment between you two. :)
runningjakeOur hospital offers a bunch of classes (27 to be exact!) so we had a lot to chose from. We ended up signing up for: prenatal yoga, breastfeeding/infant care/infant cpr, and a lamaze class. I might end up doing mommy and me yoga afterwards too but I haven't decided on that yet. I would strongly suggest taking an infant care class because we learned so much as first time parents!

The baby shower went really well, I was just stupid and forgot to take pictures. :( Hmm... maybe we should wait to see it on DVD, how disappointing!
DessertDivaCan't wait to see pictures of the nursery!
a_starrI love the name!!!
And I LOOOVE the idea of the stripes with the different sheens of paint. LOVE it! You have a great decorating style!

I'm SOOOO excited that you can feel Micah kicking. Awwww...!!! I am DETERMINED to see you before you have this little boy!

I spent the entire weekend getting ready for company, and lots of it! Jody, Chris and Sean got in last night. I'm DYING to get home to see them!! Mom and Dad get in on Tues night and then Tim, April and Leila get in on Wednesday night. Fun, Fun!!
little_mommaYeah for getting started on the nursery! It sounds adorable! This weekend we had our first of 3 Thanksgiving celebrations!
sarahsmileNo stinking way!!!! How awesome!!! Ah...I'm so excited for you!
ilovepondsOh, I love his name, btw!
desiThe name choice is great! Yay for a first kick...that's so neat!
spike427how fun to get the nursery set up!
runningjakeDefinitely take those classes, they are really worth it! But I don't blame you for wanting to wait, we tried to take a lot of notes so we don't forget anything.

When you wash the baby clothes, make sure to use a detergent that's unscented and with as little chemicals as possible because baby's skin is really sensitive. I didn't realize it either but it's nice to here what other people have done because there are so many things I wouldn't have thought of either!
sarah_seatonHappy thanksgiving, my dear friend! :)
LizWilcoxThat sounds like an awesome nursery! Isn't it so fun to plan? I'm excited to see pictures and I love his name!

Out of Pleo world! 11-17-08 04:52pm CST

My computer has been sick...it has been fighting this virus that has been going around and needed to be restored. I had to buy a new heart (a whole new drive!) and revived it! We had a really good friend that restores computers. We haven't had ours since last Wednesday!!! This, of course, is why no one has heard from me. I have missed out on so much.

I didn't realize just how much we rely on these silly things until I had NO WAY of even checking email until this afternoon.

In other news, please pray for my job security. I have heard that today my company is going to be "cutting back" and therefore all the temps are first to go. With my income, I am sure I am someone they would think about. I am also the major income provider for our home, and with the baby on the way (YAY! I'm half way there!!) it makes me a bit nervous.

I hope everyone had a great weekend and I will catch up with you all soon!
championismehello. i'm friends with her and saw that you, too, are having a baby. congratulations! i hope the rest of your pregnancy goes well.
desiI will pray. We're kind of in a bad job situation too.
runningjakeYou should install linux :) Seriously, though, it really prevents viruses.

I'll be praying about your job. I know how you feel! I'm still stressing out about what will happen to me after I graduate...
a_starrOh, no about CSM! Let me know what they decide to do!!
runningjakeYeah, it's really funny how animals sense these things. I think she's been acting up more just to make sure we give her a lot of attention. She definitely sees all the changes around the house and I almost wonder if she doesn't think we're moving again (she freaks out when we clean too much, have suitcases around etc..).

Oh the noise was horrible! It was really cute at first but the noise just gets to you at 3 in the morning!!
jensquintAww. That is so sweet of you to say. Thank you so much! And you're right about the friendships we have. It was a nice thing for me to blog about. It helped me sort of take account of the great people I know and the lessons they've taught me.
sarahsmileyay for 1/2 way there! I will pray for job security!
jensquintJust read your blog. I'll be praying for your job security. The whole "cutting back" trend seems to be going around, making so many of us nervous.
sarahmarcelleSorry to hear about your job!
DessertDivaYikes - that's nerve-racking. I hope everything works out!!
stylinmamaI hope your job situation works out for the best! I know it's hard to sit and wait it out. Good luck!!
sarahsmileactually, after the sugar "detox" you should feel better..my cramps and pms is 1000X better since I gave up sugar
a_starrDeMarcos!!!!! I NEED Demarcos calzone or Greek Salad with extra pita bread. YUMMMMMMM!!!!!!!
ilovepondsHope you aren't cut, but the Lord always provides and you'll be taken care of in ways you never dreamed! But, like I said...hope it doesn't come to that.
rachel_bonneryes- we need to! saturday the 6th will work for me if it will work for you... i guess that is 2 saturdays from now.
