I missed a call from him today (he called during the Bible study), but I did receive an email from him with some good news:
"I arrived at my forward operations base about two weeks ago. My team and I are assigned to support one of the Military Transition Teams advising a battalions of the 7th Iraqi Army Division in the Al Anbar Province. Our biggest task right now is to occasionally convoy to Al Asad Air Base for our logistical needs.
It's really quiet over here, it's a complete 180 from my last deployment. As an illustration, in the past three months, there have been 19 Marine deaths in the province, only two of those are attributed to hostile action."
I was happy to see word from him. Also, Vanessa, this is encouraging news for you too because I'm sure all of the area is much more calm than it used to be!
Some of you asked that I would give you his address, so here it is for those who wanted it:
Captain Frank, Daniel B.
5th ANGLICO, Det C / FCT 10
Unit 38554
FPO AP 96606-8554
Let us all remember the men and women fighting overseas, and pray for their safe return home.
Have a wonderful day, and remember to keep God first in all things!!! |

My brother is leaving for his third tour in Iraq this week. My sister-in-law and two nephews will be staying in Okinawa, Japan while he is gone. Please keep all of them in your prayers, along with all the other service men and women who bravely offer their lives so that we can continue to be a free country. |

Today he brought Mr. Spot, his "TA" to class. He introduced Mr. Spot by saying that "We have a special guest in class with us today." He then grabbed the plastic bag that Mr. Spot was in, and proceeded to urge the creature out of his "nest". He even jerked the bag as if the bird was struggling to fly out.
And it gets better!
My professor asked for Mr. Spot's advice several times throughout the day. Mr. Spot even "answered" one of his questions! |
