As the semester goes on, I find the amount of things on my to-do list more overwhelming everyday. This is definitely the most challenging semester of my academic career, and I find myself struggling to keep my head above the water. I try to sleep, but all those things I need to get done run through my head and I feel as if by lying there thinking about them I am wasting time as I should be doing something. Tonight a song crept in between those thoughts and reminded me of the most important thing on my to-do list that is often the easiest to forget or let slide. I'll post the lyrics below. I hope everyone's week is off to a great start and I apologize for such a blah post. As depressing as it may sound, I am rather optimistic about things I just needed an outlet for those that are weighing on my mind right now. Next time will be better, I promise. :) Now, here are those lyrics...
Take time to be holy, speak oft with thy Lord;
Abide in Him always, and feed on His Word.
Make friends of God’s children, help those who are weak,
Forgetting in nothing His blessing to seek.
Take time to be holy, the world rushes on;
Spend much time in secret, with Jesus alone.
By looking to Jesus, like Him thou shalt be;
Thy friends in thy conduct His likeness shall see.
Take time to be holy, let Him be thy Guide;
And run not before Him, whatever betide.
In joy or in sorrow, still follow the Lord,
And, looking to Jesus, still trust in His Word.
Take time to be holy, be calm in thy soul,
Each thought and each motive beneath His control.
Thus led by His Spirit to fountains of love,
Thou soon shalt be fitted for service above.
I agree...it's easy to forget what should be our #1 always...I'm sure you'll figure out a way to get it all done (or at least what needs to be done). :)
Time is on your side. Unfortunately I can say I have experienced the same thing many times before. Something that helps, is to keep a notepad by your bed. Everything that is racing through your head, write it down. You may have to turn the light back on and hit that pad 4 or 5 times, but if you stick with it you will 1)Be asleep before you know it and 2)Have all those handy thoughts waiting for you the next day when you need them. I know it all sounds cheesy, but I'm all for cheesy if it works.
Thanks for reminding us of that song. Timely words.
I'm glad! It's a fantastic meeting! It's been years since I have heard Brother Smitherman preach, and he's excellent - very to-the-point, but not "in-your-face." :)
In hard times like these, it is good to step back and examine all the blessings in our lives. Thanks for tagging me and making me do just that. I absolutely LOVE the weather that we've been having! I think I like fall more and more every year. I just wish we could see a bit more foilage around here! But the break in temps and humidity along with the clear, sunny skies have been awesome! I've been swamped with school and work these past few weeks. I am constantly going over everything I need to get done in my head, and it never feels like I accomplish any of it. BUT, I am ordering my cap and gown today so YAY! My dad is in West Virginia for at least a month working, and fortunately he found a sound congregation there. From what I hear they have already been vrey gracious to him, and I'm thankful for that. The county fair starts here on Friday and they have some pretty good music lined up for this weekend. Hopefully I can get there to catch a night or two of it. I've got to get back to work, but I'll leave you with my list of thanks. Have a wonderful day!

1. I am thankful for my friends and family who are always there supporting me no matter what.
2. I am thankful for my job that allows me to live a comfortable lifestyle and also finish my education.
3. I am thankful that I have someone in my life that is completely wonderful. I love him. :)
4. I am thankful for my past and all the mistakes I have made. If they had not happened, I wouldn't be here today.
5. I am thankful for those people who have taught me and been an example to me.
6. I am thankful to be living in this country. No matter our faults, it is still better than most places.
7. I am thankful for all those who fought so that we do have the right to complain about this country's faults, and all the other comforts that we enjoy.
8. I am thankful for everything that God has provided for me and the opportunity that He has given for me to live on this earth and be a light to others.
I won't bore you with my Ike story, but I will say that thanks to Ike I got to enjoy a week-long Hurrication to Austin. It was nice to get away and even nicer to come back and not have any damage to my apartment. I hope that you all have returned to a similar situation. If not, please let me know what I can do for you.
Pray for those who are hurting right now, not just because of the Hurricane, but because of trials that life sometimes brings.
Has noone tagged you yet? I find that hard to believe. Well I Thank You Tag You. You are supposed to list 8 things you are thankful for, or 8 blessings, or compliments to others, or a mixture of those sorts of things.
You're welcome for the invite! I'll keep you in mind for others. I think they're going to have it about once a month. We couldn't make this one either.
I love just sitting and listening to the rain. I especially love it when I don't have to get out in it! So, nothing new or exciting here. The summer has been good, no big trips like last year but still fun. There are some things going on that make it hard to see the bright side of things, but thankfully I have someone who is always supporting and encouraging me and reminding me of the good things. I am planning for some big changes after the first of next year, so pray I make good decisions. I have been obsessively watching the Olympics since they started. I can't get enough, seriously! I always wish they were on more than every four years. Just thought I'd give a little update (sort of) for you. Hope y'all are doing well!
I love the Olympics too. For some reason I am getting the feeling that is a little less hip these days (like using the word "hip"). But I still love them. Ever since I watched the Movie "The First Olympics: Athens 1896 (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0086713/) I have been enthralled with the olympics. It's a great movie. Very inspiring.
Yay for the update! It's always good to see what you are up to these days :) I'm sorry to hear that you are having some difficult stuff to deal with...if you need to chat, give me a call. You are in my prayers, and I Miss You!!
Los Cucos is good but La Carreta is BETTER :D You should get a wii I think you would have a lot of fun. I'm having a stamping party on October 4th you should come!!!!
How did you fare through the storm? Hope you're okay. Let me know if you need anything (my cell is posted next to my name on my blog - you have to be logged in though)
It has been one crazy week at work and next week will be another hectic time with so many people taking vacation so I took off today for a "mental health" day. haha Actually we only work til noon on Fridays so it isn't really that big of a deal. I just needed to be away from there! So, I'm sitting in my living room, no lights on, with the patio door open listening to the rain fall. Its bliss. I'm weighing my options of activities for the day. I'm thinking:
Plan A-a pajama day which entails a Gilmore Girls/A&E Pride and Prejudice marathon
Plan B-grocery shopping, buying some new plants and repotting some old ones, cooking dinner
Plan C-going to Houston for shopping, meeting old friends, then staying for the Micky & the Motorcars show tonight
I'm leaning toward a combination of all three, but I usually overestimate how much I can do in a certain amount of time so we'll see what happens. Whatever I decide to do, I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!
I LOVE A&E's P&P! Absolutely love it. I vote for that for sure! Course, everything else sounds good too. Maybe you can watch the movie in the backgroud, cause let's face it, you already know what's going on while potting plants, then run into Houston to catch the show with friends! lol Have fun!
