Black cat crosses path: Bad luck.
No cat crosses path: Non-Event, no change in luck.
White cat crosses path: Must mean really, really good luck, right?
I think so.
It happened to me today on the way to work...
So far, nothing seems drastically different.
Or just maybe, I would have fallen down an elevator shaft this morning when I got to work?
It might not be an entire day FULL of good luck. It might not even be TODAY. I almost said, "but you might just get lucky soon." That, however, carried a connotation that I did not intend.
So I'm teaching the 11th and 12th grade class at TT this quarter, and the subject is Biblical authority. We were discussing the general topic of authority and systems of government, where authority comes from, etc.
I really wanted to bring in this clip to show to them. I think Dennis makes a good point about where authority does and does not come from.
Well, Obama's our new President-Elect. I'm just going to go ahead and tell you, for those of you looking forward to 2012, you might want to start looking forward to 2016 instead. Unless he does something really bad, and i mean REALLY BAD, he will serve two terms. Joe the Biden will be a couple of years older in 2016 than John McCain is right now and will probably not be seen as a viable candidate for president. The Dems will do what the Republicans would not...they will drop Biden at some point and pick up someone that they can run in 2016.
I guess that brings up a good point. If he does serve two terms, then that would probably mean that he's not doing a horrible job. That's a good thing I guess.
If he does get defeated in 2012, that will mean that he did worse than pretty much any president ever, and a Reagan-Type figure will (hopefully) step up.
With respect to submitting to authority, I wonder how many of us would have voted for Nebuchadnezzar? God calls him "My Servant". God will raise up whatever leader he sees fit.
But along those lines, isn't it nice to be in America, where the authority of the land is the Law, and not a man? Obama can do nothing unless it is backed by the law. I am thankful that our country prizes the rule of law the way it does. Granted, he does have the backing of the legislative branch, for now, so hopefully not too much will go wrong in the next two years.
I say two years, because the I expect the republicans to take back the House in 2010. They could pick up a couple of Senate seats, maybe Arkansas and North Dakota, states McCain won, but some of the other Dem seats are in pretty liberal states:
Here are the other Democratic Senate seats up in 2010 (Obama won all of these states)
Connecticut
Connecticut
Colorado
Hawaii
Illinois
Indiana
Maryland
Nevada
New York
Oregon
Vermont
Washington
Wisconsin
While it was disappointing to see Obama win, several states came out and supported Man-Woman marriage. That was good to see. But I've been wondering, who has done more damage to the sanctity of marriage over the last 40 years--homosexuals or heterosexuals? I don't know how you could even begin to argue that it's homosexuals.
This uncharacteristically long post has been brought to you by whatever is wrong with my stomach (nasty virus that's been going around?) that sent me home early today.
I'd love a Jeb/Putnam ticket. But I'm afraid that W's kind of killed Jeb's chances. That, and the fact that no sensible candidate would have two people from the same state on the same ticket.
You're welcome. I rode to work today on my 150 MPG scooter in Arctic Temperatures in FLORIDA. I did my part to combat global warming today. I think that the least 'the globe' could have done in return is to actually be 'warm'. Seriously, if we're going to change our lifestyles to accomidate your supposedly high temperature, could you get 'arctic' and 'tropic' back where they're supposed to be?
Look, I am doing the best I can. It's not like I don't give you warm weather 360 days a year. How about a little appreciation. Do you ever post and tell me thanks? No. Do you ever consider that mother earth may have PMS like all the other ladies out there? No. all any one does is gripe gripe and pollute. Well get over it. Besides I didn't tell you to buy that motorized tricycle thingy in first place. you did that o your own.
from mcbecci's blog: hehehehe....Brian and I got a call around 7:15 last night, from David. His scooter had busted and he needed us to go get him over on Riverhills and bring him home. But it wasn't just "Come over and get me and we'll throw the scooter in the back." It was "Come and bring my van and we will attach a rope to it. I will then hold the rope and you will drag me all the way back to the house on my scooter." :) So there we were, with David tagging along behind the van, holding a long blue rope, with big buggy goggles on. Trying to allude the law by weaving through Temple Terrace. He looked like the biggest little kid I've ever seen. And it was so illegal. But so very funny. :)
About half an hour ago I happened to see for the first time a certain blue scooter crossing over Fletcher onto Morris Bridge. And he who rode upon it was in countenance like a guy grimly determined to ride on to the ends of the earth, with golden locks whipping in the breeze (but no goggles). Whatever happened with the haircut vote, anyway?
